MAHOPAC — The Putnam-Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center reported a surge in demand for its services in 2025, describing the year as one marked by resilience, compassion, and meaningful impact.
Executive Director Piaget Solpiaget released the organization’s annual report this week, commending staff, volunteers, board members and supporters for their efforts in providing “safety, advocacy and healing to individuals and families affected by violence and trauma.”
According to Solpiaget, the center responded to increased community needs over the past year, ensuring survivors had access to shelter, counseling, advocacy and other critical resources. “Every hotline call answered; every safe bed provided and every client supported reflected our collective belief that everyone deserves to live free from violence,” Solpiaget said.
In 2025, the center served 1,797 adults and 114 children. Staff provided shelter for 58 residents, accounting for 5,004 bed nights. The center fielded 1,082 hotline calls, responded to 34 sexual assault cases with law enforcement, successfully filed 44 orders of protection and provided supplemental housing for 21 women. More than $53,000 was dispersed directly to clients.
Founded in 1979 through a county grant to assist women reentering the workforce, the Women’s Resource Center has since expanded its mission to become a comprehensive domestic violence and rape crisis center. Over the years, its programs have evolved to serve men, women and children of all ages.
The center’s main office is in Mahopac. For assistance, call 845-628-9284 or the 24-hour hotline at 845-628-2166.
