In the kingdom of Eldoria, there lived a princess named Lyria. Unlike other princesses who adored sparkling gowns and glittering jewelry, Lyria loved adventure tales more than anything.

One day, the townspeople panicked and reported that a dragon had been spotted in the northern forest. The strange thing was that this dragon couldn’t breathe fire, it didn’t even roar. Still, everyone was frightened and demanded that the king send soldiers to get rid of it.

Princess Lyria disagreed, “If it is truly dangerous, I will know. But if it isn’t, we must not harm it.”

The king worried deeply but could not stop his daughter. He offered to send guards with her, yet Lyria refused.

She carried only a lantern and a few pieces of bread before heading into the forest alone.

After a full day of walking, she heard soft sobbing. Hidden behind tall oak trees was a small green dragon, its wings drooping sadly. It shrank back into a hollow tree as she approached. Lyria gently asked, “What’s wrong, little one?”

The dragon trembled, “I’m not like other dragons. I can’t breathe fire. The others laughed at me and drove me away. Now humans fear me too… I have nowhere to belong.”

Lyria sat down beside it, “No one deserves to be cast out for being different. I’ll help you.”
For many days, she stayed in the forest, teaching the young dragon how to warm things with a soft, hot breath

and how to fly by gliding off low hills. The dragon practiced patiently, slow but determined. It longed to prove that it could be useful.

One night, a fierce cold swept across Eldoria. Frost covered every roof, and all the hearths sputtered out. People shivered helplessly, unable to relight their fires.

Lyria knew what she had to do. She brought the dragon back to the village. People screamed and scattered in fear, Lyria stepped in front of the dragon, her voice strong: “This is my friend! It means no harm!”

The dragon looked at her, then gathered all its courage. It released a warm breath— not fire, but a gentle heat that melted frost from rooftops and warmed the entire square. The villagers stared in awe, then burst into relieved cheers.

When things settled, the king asked, “Why should I trust a dragon?”
Lyria smiled, “Because the truth isn’t always what people say. And everyone—everyone deserves compassion.”

From then on, the little dragon was welcomed as a hero. It stayed in Eldoria, warming the town during harsh winters and playing with the children.

And Princess Lyria?
She became a symbol of kindness and courage: someone who sought the truth with patience and believed that even a dragon who couldn’t breathe fire held a light worth protecting.
