President Donald Trump will address the nation in a prime-time speech on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET to announce the launch of TrumpRx.com, a new platform aimed at providing prescription medications at discounted prices, according to the White House.
Press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed the plans during a briefing on Feb. 5, describing the initiative as a major step toward reducing health care costs for Americans.
“This historic announcement will save millions of Americans their hard-earned money,” Leavitt said, adding that the new platform is designed to increase affordability and access to essential medications.
TrumpRx.com is expected to focus on lowering out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs, an issue that has long been a source of bipartisan concern as Americans continue to face rising health care and pharmaceutical expenses. The White House has not yet released detailed information on how the platform will operate, which medications will be included, or how pricing will compare with existing discount programs and insurance-based coverage.
The president will be joined during the address by Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Joe Gebbia, director of the National Design Studio. Their presence signals that the initiative may involve both federal health policy oversight and a consumer-focused design approach intended to make the service widely accessible and easy to use.
The announcement comes as the Trump administration continues to emphasize cost-cutting measures in health care, including efforts to increase price transparency, promote competition in the pharmaceutical market, and reduce what it describes as unnecessary regulatory burdens that drive up costs for patients.
More details about TrumpRx.com, including eligibility, enrollment, and rollout timelines, are expected to be released following the president’s address.
