GOSHEN- Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler hosted the Hudson Valley Law Enforcement Symposium on Tuesday, January 27, bringing together representatives from more than 50 law enforcement agencies from Albany to Westchester County.
Hoovler co-hosted the event with John Sarcone, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York, and Jay Clayton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The symposium featured presentations from federal, state, and local agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Postal Inspectors, U.S. Marshals, New York State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Presentations focused on addressing cartel-based narcotics operations, gun trafficking, human trafficking, and violent crime in the Hudson Valley. Participants also discussed strategies for interagency collaboration to improve public safety and quality of life across the region.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the event marked the first time law enforcement agencies from across the entire Hudson Valley gathered for a regional symposium.
“Drugs, guns and violent crime are public safety concerns that know no boundaries,” Hoovler said, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among agencies to protect residents.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said collaboration between federal, state, and local partners is critical to keeping communities safe and holding violent offenders accountable.
