NEW WINDSOR – A 47-year-old New Windsor man has been arrested by the State Police on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
According to investigators, David Mejia Sr. has been charged with promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16. Both are felonies.
The arrest stems from a proactive investigation that began in July 2025, which revealed that Mejia was in possession of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children. As a result, a search warrant was executed at Mejia Sr.’s residence in New Windsor in January.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit, Troop F Violent Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team, Troop F Major Crimes Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at Montgomery and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Mejia Sr. was arraigned on Saturday in the City of Newburgh Court, where he was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Windsor Court on Feb. 10.
