WHITE PLAINS – Hundreds of people packed Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains Wednesday evening to stand together in prayer and unit in the wake of the violence in Minneapolis.
Rabbi Jason Penster told the hundreds in attendance that clergy of all faiths are standing together in their call to end the violence as ICE agents continue to arrest and detain people.
“Tonight, we are not here to march, though there may be need to march. Tonight, we are not here in protests, though there may be need to protest. We are here to stand together in love. We are here to affirm the kind of community we are and the kind of community that we hope to be – one that stands up for and with one another,” he said.
Over 50 members of the clergy and faith leaders joined with elected officials on the federal, state and local levels to affirm their commitment to dignity, justice, and care for the community.
