The FBI executed a court-authorized search warrant Wednesday at the Fulton County, Georgia, Department of Elections headquarters, confiscating documents and ballots related to the 2020 presidential election, according to multiple reports and official statements.
Approximately 25 FBI personnel were observed at the facility while agents conducted what the bureau described as “a court-authorized law enforcement action.” Federal officials took custody of 2020 election materials from the county office, according to reporting cited by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Journalist Scott MacFarlane reported that the FBI confirmed its presence at the Fulton County elections headquarters, writing that agents were on-site at the facility Wednesday afternoon. His report was shared publicly in a January 28 post.
According to FOX News Digital, the investigation is related to the 2020 election. The FBI declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing nature of the matter, and the Department of Justice did not immediately comment.
Additional attention was drawn to the search following social media posts highlighting longstanding allegations involving Fulton County’s handling of the 2020 vote. Liz Harrington, who has closely followed the county’s election processes since 2020, shared a Fulton County email dated Nov. 19, 2020, referencing “quick adjustments/corrections,” alongside claims involving thousands of disputed votes. Harrington stated that the issues she cited were never corrected and that the hand-count audit incorporated thousands of improper ballots. Her comments were posted in a January 28 message.
The FBI said it would not release additional information at this time because the investigation remains active.
The search follows recent legal action by the Justice Department against Fulton County. Last month, the DOJ filed suit seeking access to the county’s 2020 election records, including ballots, after years of dispute over transparency and compliance with record-retention requirements. The lawsuit was reported by The Epoch Times.
Federal authorities have not disclosed what prompted the warrant or what specific evidence they are seeking. Officials confirmed only that the operation was lawfully authorized and remains part of an ongoing federal investigation tied to the 2020 presidential election.
