One of the world’s most-watched sporting events will also serve as a national tribute this year, as U.S. military aircraft from multiple services are set to fly over Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8, 2026, honoring 250 years of American independence.
According to the Department of War, the flyover will feature a joint formation of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy aircraft, highlighting the strength, unity, and global reach of the U.S. armed forces. The formation includes two Air Force B-1B Lancers from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, and two F-15C Eagles from Fresno Air National Guard Base, California, alongside two Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets and two F-35C Lightning IIs from Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
While the flyover showcases the Air Force and Navy, it represents the full joint force — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard — working seamlessly across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace to defend the nation.
A joint armed forces color guard from the Military District of Washington will render military honors during the national anthem, providing ceremonial precision and national representation drawn from the capital region.
In the days leading up to the game, participating service members will also engage in community outreach efforts, including public aircraft displays, search-and-rescue demonstrations, and backseat flights aboard an F/A-18F Super Hornet for community leaders.
As the nation marks its 250th anniversary throughout 2026, these Super Bowl week activities reflect the U.S. military’s shared history and enduring commitment to safeguarding freedom.
The flyover will offer a powerful visual reminder that, 250 years after its founding, America’s military remains united, ready, and dominant.
