President Donald Trump has disclosed new and dramatic details surrounding the U.S. operation that led to the capture of Venezuela’s now former socialist dictator, Nicolás Maduro, shedding light on what he described as a decisive and highly classified technological advantage.
In a recent interview with the New York Post, Trump spoke about the January 3 raid that resulted in Maduro’s capture, calling the mission a complete success carried out without the loss of a single American life.
According to the report, the operation relied on a secret weapon that effectively neutralized enemy defenses before they could be deployed.
Trump revealed that the weapon rendered opposing military equipment useless at the critical moment. “It made [enemy] equipment not work,” he explained, before giving the mysterious technology a name.
“The Discombobulator,” Trump said. He quickly added that he was not permitted to go into further detail about how it works, though he made clear he wished he could.

Describing the scene during the operation, Trump said Venezuelan forces were fully prepared to engage U.S. troops. “They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off,” he said. “We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us.”
According to Trump, the complete failure of the enemy’s weapons systems stunned Maduro’s forces and cleared the way for a swift and decisive strike.
Video footage released afterward shows the U.S. strike on Venezuelan targets, highlighting the speed and precision of the operation.
Shortly after the raid, Trump publicly announced that Maduro and his wife had been captured and flown out of Venezuela, a development first reported by Breitbart News on January 3.
Maduro, who had clung to power through what critics and international observers have described as sham presidential elections, has long been wanted by U.S. authorities.
He faces multiple narco-terrorism charges, and the United States has offered a standing $50 million reward for information leading to his arrest or conviction.
In 2020, U.S. prosecutors accused Maduro of being a central figure if not the leader of the Cartel of the Suns, an international cocaine trafficking network allegedly run by senior members of the Venezuelan regime.
According to U.S. court filings, the cartel worked for years to “flood” the United States with cocaine as a means of harming the American population.
Maduro has pleaded not guilty to the narco-terrorism charges and has repeatedly portrayed himself as a victim of U.S. aggression, once claiming he is a “decent man” targeted for political reasons.
Weeks after the strike, Venezuela’s Defense Minister, Vladimir Padrino López, made a striking claim of his own.
He alleged that Venezuela had been used as a “testing ground for the use of unknown weapons” during the operation that resulted in Maduro’s capture, a statement reported by Breitbart News. His remarks fueled speculation about the nature and capabilities of the technology Trump alluded to.
The New York Post also noted that Trump’s comments came in response to questions about recent reports suggesting the Biden administration had purchased a pulsed energy weapon.
That weapon has been suspected by some analysts of being similar to the technology believed to have caused so-called “Havana Syndrome,” a mysterious illness reported by U.S. diplomats and intelligence personnel overseas.
According to reports cited by the Post, members of Maduro’s security detail experienced alarming symptoms during the raid, including nosebleeds and vomiting blood.
One member of his guard team reportedly claimed that radar systems abruptly shut down without explanation, leaving Venezuelan forces blind and confused as the U.S. operation unfolded.
Taken together, Trump’s comments and the aftermath of the operation have intensified speculation about a new generation of advanced U.S. military technology one capable of disabling enemy defenses without firing a single shot, and one that may have played a decisive role in the downfall of one of America’s most notorious adversaries.
