MONTICELLO – The NAACP of Sullivan County hosted a Martin Luther King Junior celebration at the First Baptist Church in Monticello on Monday. The pastor of the church, Nettie Womack, spoke about the importance of the day.
“We are still struggling and fighting the fight, for humanity, for the, for poverty.”
Choir singer Patricia Curtis talked about Doctor King’s contributions to herself and the lives of others.
“He was so, so awesome. He did so much for us before he left us. But I’m so thankful I can go anywhere I want. I can feel free.”
Pastor Womack had this advice for everyone:
“Treat others the way we want to be treated. That’s all.”
