Tuesday marks the first anniversary of President Donald Trump being sworn into office for a second term. The past year has been defined by an aggressive governing style, marked by hundreds of executive actions, extensive travel, and frequent engagement with world leaders.

In a statement released Tuesday, the White House said, “One year ago today, President Donald J. Trump returned to office with a resounding mandate to restore prosperity, secure the border, rebuild American strength, and put the American people first. In just 365 days, President Trump has delivered truly transformative results with the most accomplished first year of any presidential term in modern history.”

Executive Orders
Trump signed 229 executive orders during the first year of his second term, far exceeding the pace of recent presidents and his own first term, when he signed 55 orders in the first year. By comparison, President Joe Biden signed 77 executive orders in his first year, while President Barack Obama signed 40 in the first year of his first term and 20 in the first year of his second term.

The only modern president to surpass Trump’s first-year total was President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who signed 381 executive orders during the first year of his third term as the nation mobilized for World War II.

Pardons and Commutations
Trump has granted 88 individual pardons, excluding a group of roughly 1,500 people convicted in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot who were pardoned on his first day back in office, as well as additional symbolic pardons related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election. More than half of the 88 pardons were for white-collar offenses, and about half of the recipients were business executives or politicians. Trump has issued more pardons in one year than Biden did over four years.

He has also commuted the sentences of 36 people.

Foreign Travel
During the year, Trump took eight trips abroad, visiting 13 countries. His travel included a trip to Asia, two trips to the Middle East, and two visits to the United Kingdom, one of which was a state visit.

Domestic Travel
The president made 56 trips outside the Washington, D.C., area. These included nine visits to disaster sites, nine trips to swing states, and two trips to deliver commencement addresses at universities.

Media Interviews
Since returning to office, Trump has participated in more than 100 news interviews, including 40 television interviews. The total includes some, but not all, of the informal phone interviews he frequently conducts with reporters. By contrast, Biden gave only five interviews during his first year in office.

Meetings With Foreign Leaders
Trump held more than 100 publicly known meetings with foreign leaders during the year, including 49 at the White House. His domestic travel also included 18 trips to Mar-a-Lago, nine visits to Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey, nine trips to disaster sites, nine trips to swing states, and two university commencement appearances.

Golf and Sporting Events
The president made 106 visits to his golf properties over the past year. This included 18 trips to Mar-a-Lago, totaling 77 days, and nine trips to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, where he spent 23 days.

He also attended 13 professional or collegiate sporting events, including the Super Bowl, UFC fights, and the NCAA college football national championship on Monday night.
