Elon Musk has made his largest single financial contribution ever to a U.S. Senate candidate, donating $10 million to a super PAC supporting pro-Trump Kentucky businessman Nate Morris, according to a report by Axios.

The donation went to Fight for Kentucky, a super PAC backing Morris as an “outsider” candidate in the Republican primary to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who has frequently criticized President Donald Trump, including during the recent Greenland dispute.

According to Axios, Musk’s contribution marks his biggest single donation to any Senate candidate and signals renewed willingness to spend heavily in Republican races after contributing nearly $300 million to pro-GOP causes during the 2024 election cycle.

The outlet reported that Musk came away from a conversation with Morris “impressed with Morris’ business background and anti-establishment message,” particularly his “anti-McConnell” positioning, citing “a person familiar with the conversation.” Morris and Musk are also said to share a personal connection through Vice President J.D. Vance.

The Republican primary field to succeed McConnell is shaping up to be competitive. It includes former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Rep. Andy Barr, while conservative commentator Scott Jennings has expressed interest in running if asked by Trump.

Morris has already secured backing from several prominent conservative figures, including the late activist Charlie Kirk, Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio, Sen. Jim Banks of Indiana, and Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon. According to Axios, Morris plans to “largely” self-fund his campaign through the primary, citing a person familiar with his plans.

Musk’s sizable investment adds a major new financial force to the Kentucky race and underscores the growing influence of pro-Trump donors in shaping the next generation of Republican leadership.
