A viewer asked me a few months back if I thought America was on its way into civil war. At the time I was a little taken back by the idea. It isn’t a question I get very often. “No way” I thought. We are a divided country but we have always been divided. Civil war? As in Americans meeting each other on a battlefield? No. No way that is going to happen.
In a way I am correct, but in an increasing number of other ways I was wrong. I looked at the question through historical lenses only.
Now I believe that America is already locked in a cold civil war. No rifles or uniforms like the history books. They are not needed to fracture a country anymore. In their place are weaponized words, families torn apart, and digital battle lines drawn by Big Tech and fake news.
Those lines have been distorted and blurred to serve the media’s decades long campaign to control the people rather than to inform them. The goal was to influence and condition the American people into a desired response. Many years of indoctrination now shows on the faces of the enraged Americans attacking and slandering other Americans. It shows in the brazen actions people now seem willing to take against federal officers legally doing their jobs. It shows in the cold and mocking response to the public assassination of Charlie Kirk and in the death threats online. More than I have ever seen. No one is safe from their seething but manufactured anger. My family and I have been victims of doxing and death threats as well. Even children aren’t safe. This divide is different.
I see real hate in the eyes of the people who protest or riot in the streets and post their hateful opinions online. Proud to show the world their ugliness if it gets them a few more likes. Not much different than a trained rat hitting a button for a treat to be dispersed. The people have turned. The long road of subversion is complete and we now have zombies walking among us. Infected by those who despise what this country stands for or who benefit from its destruction.
I feel silly that a few months back, I’d have called this talk overblown. Not anymore. As a blue-collar guy who’s seen the real America from the ground up, I can tell you. This divide is real, and it’s called affective polarization. A deep, gut-level loathing for the “other side.”
It isn’t about debating taxes or policy anymore. This is emotional warfare, where good people are brainwashed into seeing their neighbors as evil scum or subhuman threats.
This isn’t natural. It’s been cooked up over years by media manipulation from outlets like CNN and MSNBC, algorithmic poison from Silicon Valley overlords, and the lack of critical thinking in our schools. We were told that social media would bring us closer together. Instead, it helped spread loneliness, turning deep emotional needs for family and community into tribal rage. We huddle in our group think echo chambers, fed lies that make us hate Americans we’ve never even met. All because someone we don’t know told us to.
The deep state, globalists, and radical leftists water these seeds of division with fear, rage, and fake narratives. They’ve conditioned millions to despise patriots like me, all while claiming the moral high ground.
If you know History then you know this is straight out of the playbook to weaken America from within. History screams warnings if we’d listen. Our nation’s been down this road before, and each time, it’s the same forces of tyranny trying to break us. This time they may just win.
America has had great divides before but none have rivaled the Civil War, until now.
Back then, it was about real principles as opposed to now where it is more about power. Slavery split us like nothing before or since. It was a true moral clash where the North and the South saw each other as evil and subhuman. Those emotions caused Congressman Preston Brooks to beat Senator Charles Sumner half to death on the Senate floor over an anti-slavery rant in 1856. He faced a $300 fine (about 10k today) and resigned only to be reelected in the following special election. Another Representative, Laurence Keitt aided by pulling a gun to prevent interference.
That emotional fire led to secession and war, with no room for compromise. Partisan rags fanned the flames just like today’s fake news. Throughout history polarization cycles have divided America, but America always bounced back. However, this particular cycle seems more considerable than any I’ve studied or experienced.
But here’s the good news, America isn’t done yet. We’ve stared down the barrel of division before. Bitter fights over Vietnam, or the cultural wars of the ‘60s. Race riots of the 90’s. We’ve clawed our way back each time because at our core, we were a nation of fighters who love this land more than we hate each other. I am not sure that is true anymore, but I am hopeful that it is. In my core I believe America can overcome it but it will be ugly. People are so deeply subverted these days that it is more effective to give up on them and focus on future generations.
To unite again, we must start by reclaiming our own minds.
Step one. Unplug from the poison. Turn off CNN, MSNBC, and those Silicon Valley echo chambers that algorithm your feed to keep you raging. Replace it with real conversations. Sit down with your neighbor who votes the other way, share a beer, and talk about what actually matters: family, jobs, and fixing the roads in your town. No screens, no scripts, just Americans being human.
We’ve got to teach our kids critical thinking in schools again, not this woke indoctrination that’s turning them into tribal warriors. Demand it from your local boards and get involved, run for office if you have to.
Pray and rediscover your faith. Share it with others, especially your children. Make it real to them. Tell them how God has effected your own life. It makes it much more personal than a dusty man at a pulpit recycling sermons from the previous year.
Elect leaders who put America first, not globalists or deep state puppets. Real Americans who will drain the swamp for real this time. Bust up Big Tech monopolies that censor patriots. Remember that we are one sovereign nation under God. But it starts with us, the blue-collar backbone.
Reject the rage bait and understand that social media has changed. People are paid for their engagement so many have traded in their principles and integrity for wild posts that get engagement. What they say isn’t important, it’s simply how many times they are read.
Volunteer in your community, support local businesses instead of giant corporations that divide us for profit. History shows tyrants win when good people stay silent so speak up but do it with truth and grace. If we take these steps, we’ll bounce back stronger, turning this cold civil war into a warm American reunion.
America is not just an idea. It is We the People. It’s us, and together, we’ll make her great again. Not with weapons or anger but with strength, wisdom, and love.
United we stand!
