United States Representative Ilhan Omar faces scrutiny after newly filed financial disclosures show a sharp increase in her household income despite her previously denying claims that she is a millionaire.

According to Omar’s most recent congressional financial disclosure, her household’s net worth has a 3500% surge since 2023. That’s estimated income between $6 million and $30 million. Her husband, Tim Mynett has a law firm with a reported revenue averaging $5 million to $25 million. Omar had pushed back on criticism surrounding her finances stating she’s not a millionaire and claims suggesting financial surge were politically motivated.

“ There has been coordinated right-wing disinformation claiming all sorts of wild things, including the ridiculous claim that I am worth millions of dollars which is categorically false,” said Omar.

Although no evidence has been released, critics suspect the uncanny income surge to Minnesota daycare ponzi scheme. Influencer and independent journalist Nick Shirley has recently gone viral for exposing alleged daycare fraud in Minnesota. Shirley’s reporting highlights facilities that reportedly received millions in public funds while appearing to have little to no children enrolled.

In the video, Shirley links up with a investigator to unlock the mystery in the daycare scandal, comparing the scandal with the Somali population in Minnesota. All possible fraudulent contributor couldn’t give concrete answers to why children weren’t on the daycare property during midday on a normal workday.

For example, the first property was called Mako Childcare, that had an neighboring daycare center called mini childcare center. Mako reported using $714,649.00 with the 2022 fiscal year whereas mini childcare reported using $1,640,000.00 in 2025 fiscal year. Shirley couldn’t get in. The doors were locked, windows blacked out. The signs were visible above the door indicating that the center stays open until 10pm.

Omar is the democratic US representative for Minnesota. While Omar has not been charged with any wrongdoing, critics argue that the combination of her rising household wealth, her husband’s business revenue, and ongoing fraud investigations in Minnesota warrant closer scrutiny. Supporters counter that financial disclosures reflect estimated asset values and do not necessarily represent liquid cash or personal income.

Federal authorities continue to pursue multiple fraud cases tied to Minnesota’s welfare system, with dozens of convictions already secured. As public trust in government oversight remains a concern, Omar’s financial disclosures are likely to remain part of the broader conversation surrounding transparency, accountability, and political leadership.
