Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump in Florida on Monday for talks expected to focus on the fragile Gaza cease-fire process and mounting tensions with Iran, as regional and international stakes continue to rise.

According to reporting by AFP, Netanyahu will also press for expanded U.S. military action against Iran, as reports indicate the Israeli leader views Washington’s role as central to containing Tehran’s influence and military posture. The meeting will take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and marks the fifth time the two leaders have met in the United States this year.

Trump, who said Netanyahu requested the talks, is reportedly eager to unveil plans as early as January for a Palestinian technocratic governing authority in Gaza, alongside the deployment of an international stabilization force to manage security and reconstruction following months of conflict. The White House said the leaders are set to meet at 1 p.m. local time, or 1800 GMT.

The meeting comes amid heightened regional tension, just 48 hours after Iran issued a stark warning to the United States, Israel, and Europe. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country considers itself to be engaged in a full-scale war with all three, framing the confrontation as existential.

In comments published on the website of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Pezeshkian said the current conflict surpasses even the scale and severity of Iran’s war with Iraq in the 1980s, according to Associated Press reporting that reports the remarks.

“We are in a full-scale war with the U.S., Israel and Europe; they don’t want our country to remain stable,” Pezeshkian said.

At the same time, Israeli officials announced steps to strengthen the country’s defense posture, signaling preparations for potential escalation as diplomatic efforts continue alongside military readiness.

The Florida talks are expected to address both the immediate challenges surrounding Gaza’s next phase of governance and broader strategic concerns involving Iran, as Washington and Jerusalem weigh diplomatic initiatives against the risk of widening conflict.
