Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, was taken into custody late Sunday as law enforcement continued investigating the killing of the prominent Hollywood couple at their Los Angeles home.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Nick Reiner was arrested Sunday night and booked on unspecified charges, with bail set at $4 million, according to ABC News reported. Authorities have not publicly linked his arrest to the deaths and have not disclosed the basis for the charges.

Rob Reiner, a longtime director, producer and political activist, and Michele Reiner were found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood-area residence earlier Sunday. Officials said the discovery prompted an extensive investigation but stressed during a late-night press briefing that no suspect had been identified in the homicides and no one had been taken into custody in connection with the killings.

In a statement released through family representatives, the Reiner family said they were devastated by the loss and requested privacy as they grieve. Investigators have not released details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths, including a possible motive or timeline, and said the case remains active.

Law enforcement officials indicated that further information would be released as the investigation develops.
