MAYBROOK – The state’s FAST NY funding program has awarded $25 million to redevelop the long-idle Maybrook Rail Yard in the Village of Maybrook into the Switchyard Terminal for Economic and Advanced Technology.
Orange County Partnership President Conor Eckert said the grant will cover the cost of infrastructure to create six shovel-ready sites for business.
“Our vision on this is to position the park for food manufacturing, R&D, life science innovation and rail centric manufacturing,” he said.
The result of the project is to have the sites accessible via the existing short-haul Middletown-New Jersey Rail line based in Middletown.
“With our infrastructure revitalized, the village is prepared to assume its role as a regional economic center,” said Mayor Dennis Leahy.
