A Georgetown University journalism professor, Jonathan Franklin, was caught on hidden camera by investigative journalist James O’Keefe calling black conservatives “coons” and referring to his white coworkers as “stupid white people,” according to the report released Thursday.

During the recorded conversation, Franklin insulted prominent black conservatives, including Fox News host Lawrence Jones, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and commentator Candace Owens, accusing them of being “sellouts” to “the white man.”

When O’Keefe revealed his identity during their meeting, Franklin fled the restaurant, only to trip and fall on the sidewalk, an incident captured in the video. O’Keefe later accompanied him to a Walgreens to purchase bandages and water.

In the footage, Franklin also boasted about working as a journalist for NPR and falsely claimed to have been a correspondent for CBS. He said he would have to quit journalism to “say what’s really on [his] mind.”

O’Keefe posted excerpts of the encounter on , writing that “Georgetown University records confirm Franklin is currently teaching students how to ‘interview sources effectively,’ even as he privately uses racial slurs and expresses biases fundamentally incompatible with journalistic ethics.”

The video shows Franklin describing his white coworkers as “stupid” and reiterating that black conservatives were “coons.” He added that he “calls a spade a spade,” defending his language as “truth-telling.”

Franklin’s remarks have raised serious questions about bias, professionalism, and accountability in higher education and journalism. Georgetown University has not yet issued a public statement on the incident.
