Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky talked to Stevel Witkoff, Jared Kushner and Rustem Umerov which he claimed was a “construction discussion.”

Stevel Witkoff is the special envoy for peace missions, and Rustem Umerov is the Secretary of National Security and Defense Council.

The discussion took place after Russia’s drone attack in Fastiv rattled Railway station buildings and several other places. Over 600 drone strikes caused severe consequences in Ukraine.

“I’ve just had a long and substantive phone call with @SteveWitkoff and @jaredkushner, alongside Andrii Hnatov and @rustem_umerov. I am grateful for a very focused, constructive discussion,” said Zelensky on his X handler.

According to the Ukrainian President the discussion covered many aspects but focussed on the key points that would ensure not only bloodshed but also stop Russian invasion further.

“We covered many aspects and went through key points that could ensure an end to the bloodshed and eliminate the threat of a new Russian full scale invasion, as well as the risk of Russia failing to honour its promises, as has happened repeatedly in the past,” he said.

“Ukraine is determined to keep working in good faith with the American side to genuinely achieve peace. We agreed on the next steps and formats for talks with the United States. I thank President Trump @POTUS for such an intensive approach to negotiations,” said Zelensky.

However, Zelensky said he is now waiting for Rustem Umerov and General Hnatov’s in-person report.

“Not everything can be discussed over the phone, so we need to work closely with our teams on ideas and proposals,” Zelensky said. “Our approach is that everything must be workable – every crucial measure for peace, security, and reconstruction. Thank you!”
