What is Xi’s reported war plan for Iran—and how could it draw America into a prolonged and costly military trap? In this investigative analysis, Katherine Hu examines new claims about Beijing’s expanding role behind Tehran’s military strategy.
According to information attributed to insiders within China’s political system, Beijing reportedly provided Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with an operational concept designed around one central objective: draw American forces into a ground operation, target the air support sustaining that mission, and gradually turn Iran into another long-term military quagmire for the United States.
The claims come as Iran seeks to rebuild its air-defense capabilities. International reports have also raised new questions about possible Chinese transfers of military equipment to Tehran—despite Beijing’s public denials and Xi Jinping’s previous assurances to President Trump.
But Xi’s Iran strategy may be only one part of a much larger story.
Inside Beijing, prominent members of China’s revolutionary families are reportedly moving toward a new consensus over Xi’s political future. General Liu Yuan and dozens of retired senior military officers were also absent from a major People’s Liberation Army reception—an unusual development that some observers view as a quiet but deliberate political signal.
In this episode, Katherine Hu investigates: • The reported war plan Beijing provided to Iran • How Iran could draw America into a prolonged ground conflict • China’s alleged role in rebuilding Tehran’s military capabilities • The emerging consensus among China’s revolutionary families • Liu Yuan’s absence and the reported resistance within the military • Why Xi’s strategy abroad may be colliding with a deepening crisis at home
The struggle over Iran may reveal more than Beijing’s ambitions in the Middle East. It may also show how far Xi is prepared to go to challenge Washington—and how much resistance he now faces within China’s own political and military establishment.

Almost everyone knows behind Iran's shifting military strategy
stands Beijing's steady support and supply. Now Beijing's plan for Iran to confront America
has been exposed and behind it lies a plot that could shock the world.
Welcome back to Final War with Catherine Hu. She once promised Trump face to face
that he would never provide Iran with military equipment that could be used against American
forces. But a recent Reuters exclusive tells a very different story. On July 29th Reuters cited
three sources familiar with the matter, once again shedding light on the undisclosed dealings
between Beijing and Tehran. Amid its confrontation with the United States, Iran is now working to
rebuild its air defense network. And within weeks it is expected to receive its first shipment of
Chinese-made man-portable air defense systems or man-pads, possibly as many as 400 in total.
The purchase is estimated to be worth between 60 million dollars and 70 million dollars.
It is one of Tehran's largest known efforts to strengthen its short-range air defenses
since war broke out with the United States and Israel. Beijing has denied it, but by now the
story has circulated widely across the international community. And this was not the first indication.
As early as April CNN reported exclusively that Beijing intended to route a shipment of shoulder
launched air defense systems to Iran through a third country, obscuring where the equipment had
actually come from. Nearly four months have passed, yet information like this continues to surface.
And when all we can see is the tip of the iceberg, what lies beneath the surface is almost certainly
far greater than anything visible above it. Now, according to the latest information from
insiders in Beijing, Xi has reportedly provided an operational plan to the top command of Iran's
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The source is our old friend Professor Yuan Hongbing,
a renowned legal scholar living in Australia. He knows a great deal about what goes on behind
the scenes at the highest levels of Beijing's leadership. According to Professor Yuan,
the information came from a member of a second-generation revolutionary family within
the CCP system. And according to this source, Xi had drawn up a major military scheme for the war
in Iran. The Chinese Communist Party has already provided an operational plan to the top command
of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The core of the plan is to draw the United States
into launching a special operations ground assault on the nuclear facilities around Pickaxe
Mountain. The idea is to create the appearance that large quantities of nuclear material are
hidden there, drawing as many American ground forces as possible into the operation. To counter
such a ground assault, the Chinese Communist Party would provide the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
with hundreds of shoulder-launched air defense systems to counter the helicopters and drones
that would inevitably play a major role in any ground operation. Beijing has also delivered
night vision devices and night combat equipment from four special operations battalions of the
Western Theater Command to the Revolutionary Guard. The objective is to carry out the instruction Xi
issued at the very beginning of the war in Iran, make every effort to turn Iran into a second
Afghanistan for the United States. This shows just how much influence the Chinese Communist
regime now has over Iran. It has reached a level we have never seen before, to the point where
Beijing can even dictate how the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps develops its strategy and tactics.
The same source also said that Xi's government has made this promise to the Revolutionary Guard.
If American forces launch a ground operation, the Chinese Communist Party will send large
numbers of troops into Iran to support Iranian forces without formally declaring war, just as
it did during the Vietnam War. So if Trump is still holding on to any unrealistic hopes about Xi,
that could put American forces in Iran at a serious disadvantage and pull them deeper and
deeper into a military quagmire. But as we have been reporting, Xi is now struggling to protect
himself. China's second-generation revolutionary families are joining forces in a campaign to bring
him down. This information also comes from Professor Yuan. He says principled insiders
within the CCP recently revealed that several second-generation revolutionary families,
led by General Liu Yuan, now agree on one thing. Xi must go. Not long ago, Liu Yuan, Hu Deping,
Deng Pofang, and others from China's second-generation revolutionary families
made a prediction. 2028 would mark the turning point when the political upheaval that could
bring Xi's absolute one-man rule to an end would enter its most turbulent phase.
Xi's actions have already pushed him into a serious political crisis. Hundreds of millions
of Chinese people condemn him, and he has been abandoned on all sides. The only thing keeping Xi
in power now is his vast security apparatus, his system of secret police rule, and political
purges that have reached an almost frenzied level. He is relying on this unsustainable form
of control just to keep his absolute one-man rule balanced on a knife edge a little longer.
When Yuan says Xi has been abandoned on all sides, he is talking about unemployed migrant workers,
college graduates, officials at every level, intellectuals, private business owners,
and millions of victims of judicial injustice whose lives now revolve around petitioning.
The list also includes more than 8 million officials purged by Xi over the past decade,
along with over 30 million members of their families. According to Yuan, they all see
as a ruler no different from China's infamous ancient tyrants,
Jie and Zhou, a public enemy of the Chinese people, both brutal and incompetent.
General Liu Yuan, who is now effectively overseeing the day-to-day operations of the
Central Military Commission, has reached a consensus with other prominent members of China's
second-generation revolutionary families. They include Hu Deping, son of former party
leader Hu Yaobang, and Deng Pofang, son of former leader Deng Xiaoping. Together,
they plan to launch a word-of-mouth campaign across government circles, academia, the business
community, the military, and the general public. They want to spread the word about Xi's betrayal
of reform and opening up, the damage he has done to the country and its people,
and his brutality and incompetence. Their goal is to create another voice across China,
one that runs parallel to Xi's official propaganda and brings people from every
part of society together against him. And we may already be seeing one sign
that supports this account. This year marks the 99th anniversary
of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. On July 31, China's Ministry of National Defense
held its traditional reception, but there was one striking difference this year.
Last year, General Liu Yuan attended the reception in uniform.
This year, he was nowhere to be seen in CCTV's footage. And he was not the only one. Dozens of
retired senior military officers, at the Deputy Theater Command level or above, also stayed away,
all citing poor health. In effect, they staged a quiet boycott of the reception.
A major shift is now unfolding inside the system,
and it is beginning to crack open the iron curtain of Xi's dictatorship.
That crack could give resistance across China the chance to rise, gather strength, and grow
into a democratic movement powerful enough to bring tyranny to an end.
The first crack has appeared. Now we watch what comes next.
