Moving on, a nearly 200-year-old masterpiece by British painter J.M.W. Turner has returned to the
city that inspired it, Rome. From Mount Aventine is now on display in Rome for the first time,
nearly two centuries after Turner sketched the city from the Aventine Hill.
More on this in our next story. Take a look.
So what we're seeing today is Turner's Rome from Mount Aventine, one of the great late
masterpieces of his career. It's a painting that he was commissioned for one of his most
important patrons, and it's based on a series of sketches he did here in Rome in 1828,
and it was probably started here in the city before being finished back in London in his studio.
