This update is genuinely INSANE...
Aug 23, 2026
This update is genuinely insane, as a recent report has just revealed that several teams across the NBA could be preparing to go for one of the Lakers star players due to the recent change in leadership in this organization.
And welcome to Lakers Digest, my name is Hunter Pitkoff, where we cover everything surrounding your Los Angeles Lakers.
Whether it be different rumors, reports, breaking news, as well as different trades and signings, this is the place to be for your purple and gold.
And look, 7 out of 10 of you watching the videos are not subscribed.
I mean, you're already doing the hard part. We appreciate you tapping in this summer and keeping up with all the craziness surrounding your Lakers.

And look, it has been a crazy summer. It's been an even crazier couple weeks due to all the changes that the Lakers are currently undergoing right now.
But this might be the update that no Laker fan wants to hear, as the Sharks are lurking in Los Angeles.
So this is what Tim McManon had to say, who covers the NBA, one of the top reporters that covers the NBA nationally, saying that teams around the NBA are monitoring Luka Doncic's situation in Los Angeles.
And this is what he had to say. You better believe that there's teams around the league that are looking at that situation and saying, hey, if this thing goes sideways, we'd sure like to get Luka in the midway through his prime.
So, perhaps this is not saying teams are offering for Luka Doncic. This is not saying that Luka does not want to be there. We'll get into it later in the video about that.
But what this is saying is that teams are going to keep an eye on that situation and they're going to wonder, hey, if things are not going to work out, is there a chance that we can make a move for Luka Doncic?
And the reason why these sentiments are being brought up by Tim McManon is because of the recent events that have happened with the Lakers.
Yes, they are being sold to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for over $12.5 billion. It ended up being literally $12.5 billion.
And that these were the two guys. They were involved in the Las Vegas process for the potential expansion team.
Instead, they took a turn, went to go offer for the Lakers. They came to an agreement with Mark Walter and he sold his share of the Lakers' majority share to that purchasing group.
And that is important to say, share from it as well because that is when the Buss family days later decided that they were going to sell their remaining 17.8% ownership in the stake of the Lakers to Kushner and Bob Iger.
And this right now has been quite a little bit of a debate as all of the siblings, except for Jeannie Buss, they all voted to execute the sale.
And so they required four of six to enact that to make this happen. And then, of course, you look at Jeannie Buss right now.
She is suing or plans to sue her siblings over this as well. Also went after Shams a little bit as well for some of the reporting.
He originally said 5-0 in one of his posts. And she was like, well, it's not unanimous. And that was the whole thing with technicality.
But basically what you need to know, we know for a fact five of the siblings agreed to sell the team. Jeannie Buss did not sell their share of the team.
And then if she doesn't have that much stake in the team, she cannot hold her position as Lakers' governor, which Bob Iger and Josh Kushner did say that she would be allowed to hold that position if that thing went south.
So, okay, that's the ownership stuff. At the end of the day, they're not the ones playing the basketball games.
They're not the ones who are in the front office making general manager decisions, coaching decisions.
So I do expect Rob Palenka and J.J. Wright to really be the ones riding the ship this season.
But that does bring us to our next point here in terms of this report that came out, of course, in regards to teams circling for Luka Doncic potentially.
He's standing 10 toes down. And this is why I am not questioning McMahon's report.
In fact, I actually think this makes sense, right? If things aren't going well with the Lakers, of course teams are going to do whatever they can to get Luka Doncic.
And I promise you guys the Lakers would not give him up the same way the Dallas Mavericks gave him up.
They would get a much bigger offer for somebody like Luka.
But this is why when Laker fans see this, they want to overreact. They want to go crazy. They want to say whatever.
Not all Laker fans, some Laker fans, you know, they go, Oh my God, what? Like Luka's getting traded? What do you mean? Wait, no, no, no, no, no.
This is the tweet and post that Luka Doncic put out right after getting the news that Iger and Kushner bought the Lakers.
This is what he said. He said, being a Laker means everything to me. I'm excited to get back on the court, bring a championship to L.A.
I've gotten used to big changes over these last few years, but I know no matter what, there is no limit to the potential of this iconic franchise.
I look forward to meeting Josh and Bob so we can get to work building something special in L.A. together.
So this is somebody who put this out. Let's see if we can actually timestamp this. I have Ramona's tweet here.
10 o'clock a.m., two and a half hours later, Luka Doncic put in this out.
So this just tells you guys that Luka is doubling down. He says, look, it might not be Mark Walter.
It might not be the Bust family. Whoever it is, this is where I want to be.
This is my team. This is my city. And this is exactly what Laker fans wanted to hear.
And this came out 10 days ago. So this is not a new tweet that Luka Doncic did to respond to what McManon said.
This is what to respond to the reports that came out that this change in ownership is going to happen.
So Luka Doncic is staying 10 toes. He put his money where his mouth was last offseason with Mark Walter.
He signed that three-year extension, which kicks off this season and this upcoming offseason.
So the 2027 offseason, he's going to be eligible to get another extension here.
So you would expect the Lakers, if he has a good season, the team has a good season, there is pressure on the Lakers to get this right.
But if he signs that extension as well, which is going to be a lot more money than what you're seeing on the screen,
that's a lot to begin with. Then you're going to know for a fact that Luka Doncic is all in on this team and this franchise
and this city and this is where he wants to be. And if Luka Doncic did not want to be here and was, you know, thinking elsewhere,
do you think that this man would be bringing his teammates to Slovenia?
All of them except Cameron Carr, because Cameron Carr had a mandated rookie, like, not training camp,
but like workshop he had to go to, which that sucks for him because every other Laker was able to go to Slovenia
and participate in this little, like, Luka Doncic sleepaway summer camp that he's got going on right now where they're practicing together,
they're team bonding, they're out here playing golf and doing, you know, they're on kayaks and stuff like that and going fishing
and having a grand old time in the lovely country of Slovenia and doing all the things that Luka Doncic loves to do during the offseason.
This stuff would not be happening if Luka Doncic wasn't bought in. I love seeing this from Luka.
I know we haven't maybe made a specific video on this per se yet. We might have. I gotta remember.
But just seeing the leadership that Luka's taking, and this is not a shot LeBron James at all, so please don't take this the wrong way,
but I don't think Luka, from a leadership perspective, was able to fully take control of the team until LeBron James was gone.
And the reason I say that is because LeBron, it's LeBron freaking James, man. This guy's still the face of the NBA, like, and he will be until the day he retires.
So this guy, he's just such a big force. He's the one that used to host these kind of camps.
Granted, it was in Los Angeles, but it would be him doing it. Now Luka's doing it. This is his team now.
This is his organization. It's his team. He is the leader of this team. No questions asked.
And so the fact that he's able to do this, bring everybody along, wasn't just some of the team, wasn't a few of the guys, the whole team.
Most of these guys, he's never played a single game with on a basketball court. This group has never, as a collective, played together until now.
So it just shows you that the leadership that he's taking on, he is all in on this organization.
He's all in on the Lakers, and he's all in on this season and being the real true guy for this team.
And so, excited to see how this all comes together, how the team chemistry is, and I'm sure we'll get a lot more social posts,
as we've been getting throughout the Luka Doncic Slovenian summer camp that he's holding right now, if you want to call it that.
