This just got real for the magic Anthony Black and Noah Pender both picked up injuries in the first
few days of training camp and normally I wouldn't be too worried about either one
but this is Orlando. We all know the injury history this team has dealt with over the years
so how concerned should we actually be? We're gonna get into all that and more on today's
episode of Magic Digest. What's good with it? It's your big Unc Eric and let's just go ahead
jumping into it. We got this from Jason Beatty beat reporter for the Orlando Sentinel and he had
this to say magic coach Sean Sweeney said Anthony Black had a minor ankle sprain during the team's
voluntary workouts leading in the training camp. Sweeney said Black is considered day-to-day and
they're just being smart about it and we go ahead and follow that up with he later it was probably
about I want to say less than a few minutes later he came out and said also on the injury front magic
coach Sean Sweeney said Noah Pender tweaked his hamstring with two practices a day to start
training camp the team doesn't want Pender and Black doing too much twice a day Sweeney said.
Now I actually went and looked at the interview with Sean Sweeney where they talked about it and
he didn't seem to be too concerned it seemed like these were minor injuries the guys are back at
training camp running two a days where it seems like they're coming out in the morning doing some
drills working on the fundamentals working on the system getting that out and then coming back later
in the day when they're doing full contact drills running scrimmages and things like that again
I'm gonna need somebody I would just need somebody whoever is in charge of the Orlando
Magic's 2k team to go in there and turn off the injuries in my career because you know the history
that this team has dealt with but again I'm not super concerned because it doesn't sound like
these are end of season or they're going to miss significant time it just seems like
they're tweaking they tweak something going in so they're going to be careful they're going to
pay more attention and just kind of be aware of what's going on now we're definitely going to
keep a lookout because we already had the reports on Jonathan Isaac him not being ready
to start training camp and then was the rookie Isaiah Nelson neither one of those guys I think
will be massive contributors to this team especially the rookie I would be surprised
if he gets real playing time he'll probably spend a lot of time in Osceola when he gets going but it
would have been good to see him in the preseason actually get some run actually get out there and
you know get up and down against real NBA talent so I'm interested to see that we definitely want
to make sure that we go ahead and turn off the injuries going into the rest of the season now
I want to get into something real quick because this is training camp we're getting stories left
and right and I will have a few I'm definitely going to have some shorts so if you want to get
involved man make sure you subscribe man I know a lot of the actual viewers of these videos are not
subscribed if you subscribed leave a comment like it helps the videos do so much which we greatly
appreciate it and speaking of comments I have one off of a previous video where I want to address
my thoughts on one specific player and that's Nikola Vucevic let me go ahead and pull up this
comment so we can just get into it and this is from jpaulpaluskas7108 I apologize if I butchered
your your name I appreciate the comment he had this to say Vuc will be a monstrous upgrade over
Mo healthy taller better score and rebounder to say nothing about IQ when many games are
decided by three points or less he's far more productive and there is the thought process that
Vuc is going to play a major role now when they signed him I won't lie I thought him as a third
string big to have that experience to have that guy would be good but the thought of him you know
immediately getting the second uh string minutes over Goga I was very concerned because Vuc is much
older he is he's not the same guy that he was when he played for Orlando even if you look at the
numbers the numbers are good but he's not that same guy and I don't think Magic fans were really
considering what he would look like now on the team versus you know when he was back at his prime
doing what he did here in Orlando but there are other aspects to it and one at first first and
foremost I want to be 1000% wrong like I want you guys to come on here one day and be like you was
wrong about Vuc because he's killing it because if he's killing it that means he's helping the team
and then that then my take is you can just throw that out the window right so I will gladly be the
first one to say I hope I am wrong but one thing that I do think Vuc is going to be is a great
vet in this locker room and it's already come out a lot today Desmond Baines spoke
with reporters after practice and he had nothing but glowing sentiment to say about Vuc he said
man super super cool dude anybody that's been in the league for as long as he's had you got to
respect it and have your ear to what he's saying a guy like that can really drop some wisdom and
he was he has a very serious approach I mean he wants to win that's the only thing he hasn't
accomplished in his 16 years is getting to the mountaintop so he's been serious but he's also
bringing guys along coming to team dinners really spending time trying to bond with us so that's
been cool and you you love that you love that you want to see that you want to see that this guy is
coming in as a veteran that he is being a vocal voice in the locker room because one thing that
I noticed over the last few years as the NBA has switched to you know really trying to get youth
especially because of how the contracts are going that solid role-playing vets are getting kind of
pushed out of the league you're seeing more guys who could be solid get real minutes are playing
overseas you know or just ending their careers a lot earlier because you know before they used to
get more than the minimum versus now it's just if I'm going to pay guys the minimum I'm probably
going to get a young prospect or you know somebody who I can have much control over for longer
and not bring in much older guys unless our team is just old so I was definitely
wanting the magic to bring in some vets that really could help so last year when they went
and got Javon Carter and you just saw how the younger guards gravitated to him and you would
see it in the interviews that they're really soaking up all his wisdom like when the oldest
guy on the team was like Jonathan Isaac and Desmond Bain and it was like these are vets but
they aren't long playing vets that have that wisdom so Vooch coming back after his years to really be
a solid force not only in the locker room but provide the minutes on the court you definitely
gotta hope nothing but the best I think it's going to be really good if he could come out and give
the production that magic fans want you guys let me know what do you expect or should we worry
anything about these injuries or do we just need to go ahead and call it off now and let me know
think about Nikola Vujovic down below in the comments it's your big
uncle Eric till the next time on Magic Digest holla at your boy
