If you've spent any time on the internet at all, you've probably seen this place.
From it's turquoise blue waters, to it's epic coastline, to it's adorable monkeys,
there are so many reasons that Nusa Penida has risen as a popular destination in recent
years.
Earlier this spring, I set out with my Swedish friends Jacob and Jenny to go check out what
all the hype on this island is about.
We saw some of the most epic places on earth, and made memories that we'll never forget.
So in my first vlog ever, we hope you'll join us on our awesome adventure through Nusa Penida.
Alright, so I'm here in Bali with Jacob and Simon, and these guys were seriously some
of my first inspirations to start traveling, because on YouTube I found one of their videos
for the Philippines, it's linked right here if you want to go watch that.
And anyway, I watched that and I was like, whoa, I want to go travel the world now.
And then I sent Jacob a DM, and we're finally meeting up three years later here in Bali.
We're at this villa, and we are going to go explore Nusa Penida Island today.
So, it's going to be a good one.
Let's go!
These Swedish people know how to live, they've got a group of friends.
They rented out this villa in Bali, it has like multiple stories, there's a pool out
there, there's a kitchen fixing breakfast right now.
Like man, I need to do this more often.
Swedish fish aren't a thing in Sweden.
Oh, wheat, like fermented ferring.
No, no, no, like candy, Swedish fish.
They don't have Swedish fish in Sweden.
It's such fake news, what is this?
Alright, so for today, we're headed out to Nusa Penida Island, it's a total third wheel
trip with my friends Jacob and Jenny right here, so, who knows, maybe I'll find true
love on Nusa Penida.
That'd be the dream.
We'll try.
They gave us these passes so we look all official.
So I hear that in Norway and Sweden, you guys put barcodes on the side of the navy ships,
is that true?
Yeah, so that you can Scandinavian.
Look at all of our friends trying to sell us scooters.
No thanks.
We're like mosquitoes here with people trying to sell us scooters.
Alright, quick tip for coming to Nusa Penida or Bali, or really anywhere, is don't rent
your bike right at the end of the ferry or the airport or anything like that.
You want to walk inland a ways and then get it there, because out here they're trying
to target all the tourists who don't really know what they're doing and will pay a lot,
so gotta be smart about it like that.
Do you want a chess burger?
Alright, so for the last hour and a half, everyone's been non-stop yelling taxi, taxi
and trying to get us on board, and now that we finally need a taxi, we haven't seen one
in like 20 minutes, so that's how life goes, right?
Buh!
Alright, super early wake up this morning, we're headed to Kelling King Beach on the
dirt bikes.
Alright, we made it out just in time for sunrise to this bad boy right here, and let me tell
you, in real life, it feels so much bigger than it looks in pictures, like this thing
is huge, so, let's snap some sizzleronis.
Yeah, sizzleronis, I have no idea what that means.
What's down there, Jenny?
There's monkeys.
Guys, the monkeys are coming for us.
It's the planet of the apes.
Look at this, hydro cheez-its and hydro cameras, because the monkeys are coming for us all.
Stairway down to the beach is so much fun.
Okay, so it's about 7.30 right now, and the crowds are just now starting to show up.
I seriously thought there was going to be like 200 people here taking sunrise shots,
but it was just us, so, don't worry about that too much, but get here early.
They seem to really like chicken here in Indonesia.
Fried chicken, grilled chicken, chicken satay, chicken nugget.
Freaking noodle.
Bok bok.
Freaking noodle.
Do your best Swedish, English.
My best Swedish.
What's your English?
Here we are at Karingin Beach.
We are going down to the beach.
Wait, do your best American impression.
American impression?
Alright, so we made it down the stairs, and now we're in this awesome cave on the beach,
getting out of the sun.
Because our lily white Scandinavian skin does not like the sunlight, but this is so cool
right now.
Like, talk about paradise.
So we're trying to go to Manta Bay, and we thought it was like a beach if you just swim
out there, but it turns out it's a crazy rocky cliffside, so we're going to have to come
tomorrow by boat that leaves from somewhere else.
So this is fake news.
So this says, welcome to Lungmangon Beach, and it's not even a beach, it's just a big
cliffside.
There's not even any sand.
Do we have the snorkels?
Three?
After a fun day of snorkeling, I said bye to Jacob and Jenny, and headed to the other
side of the island to do what I do best, solo adventure.
Alright, so headed to Diamond Beach, and apparently what I have to do is go down there to the
beach, across, all the way up those stairs, and then it's over there.
Let's do all that before sunset.
So this is a silly move right here, writing your Instagram handle on some stairs just
so you can get a few more followers.
Go tell Tony Mutt too that he's a sniveling ghoul.
There it is, Diamond Beach.
Oh my gosh.
Look at this.
Oh.
What's up, and welcome to sunrise at Diamond Beach.
We back.
So anyway, today, instead of shooting the beach from this angle, I'm gonna go behind
it and find this really cool treehouse thingy, and go see what that looks like.
So from here, the treehouse is right about there.
So sun is rising, and I am going to send it.
So made it to Diamond Beach again, and this is my friend Jack's brother.
I met Jack in Hawaii, and he was gonna come to sunset, but he couldn't come, so he's like,
oh, here's my brother, so, and here's some other friends.
I don't even know you two.
What's your name?
Yana.
What's your name?
Christian.
Oh, that's a vibe right there.
Unforgettable?
Yeah.
That's the shot.
Oh, there we go.
Oh, get that diamond, like, right in there.
Well, that just about wraps up this Nusa Penida adventure.
If you ever find yourself on Bali, I would highly recommend going out to see it.
It's definitely worth the trip.
