I went on a U.S. road trip and let my Instagram followers make all my decisions.
Not only did they decide the places I went, but they voted on challenges for me to complete
along the way just to make things interesting.
I caught some weird looks and put my life in danger a time or two, but I also stumbled
upon some places I didn't even know existed.
That being said, let's get this show on the road.
So the first Instagram poll I sent out just asked what general direction I should start
driving in.
Once the results were in, the Southwest had won, so I packed my bags and headed off to
Utah.
The journey is long and there's not much to do besides look at sagebrush and Mormon
temples, so I needed a challenge to help break up my drive.
The next poll I sent out to my Instagram people asked them to choose one of these four challenges
for me to complete on the way down, and after a couple hours, B was the winner.
I stopped by a store to grab the goods and headed off to the hot spring.
So this is Meadow Hot Spring, and it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it's no secret
and there's tons of people out here every evening, which makes it perfect for my shenanigans.
Oh, did you hear about the whole Windex thing recently?
No.
So they're actually, they're under some lawsuit by the FTC because like kids thought it was
so colorful and were drinking it like Gatorade or Kool-Aid, so they actually like changed
the formula so you can drink it now.
And it's a thing in like athletics, it has a really high sodium potassium concentration.
So that's like real Windex?
Yeah, no, like seriously, if you watch tennis nowadays, people...
Drink Windex?
Yeah.
Is this like the Thai Pod Challenge?
I mean, it's not like great, but there's so many like pro athletes and stuff doing it,
I thought I'd at least give it a try, but...
What?
How old are you?
23.
No, you're not 23.
You look like you're 19.
And you're like old now.
And also, that's actually all lies and you're on a YouTube video right now.
Oh my god!
Oh my!
That's why I was back there fiddling with my camera up there forever, and that GoPro
right there.
What is it Gatorade?
What?
Yeah, it's just blue Gatorade.
They put a bit of alcohol in here, so it can get you messed up.
Like it's a great drink to have around a hot tub.
Do you guys appreciate it?
Yeah.
Oh!
I did hear Windex is a cure-all.
Yeah.
Have you ever watched my Big Thai Greek Wedding?
Yeah, Windex is a cure-all.
Yeah, exactly.
Just like toothpaste.
It's a cure-all, right?
Yep.
Also, I'm actually totally joking.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
I figured you weren't drinking Windex.
I kind of assumed, but I also...
It really wouldn't surprise me that the kids are drinking Windex these days.
I mean, they started with Thai Pods.
I had semi-successfully bamboozled some hot spring goers, but I had no idea where I was
heading next, so I sent out this Instagram poll asking what region of the Southwest I
should drive to.
The people said I should go to Kanab and Page, so let's give the people what they want.
My first stop was the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, which are some of the most unique dunes in
the U.S.
They're pretty cool, but really they don't even compare to some of the things we'll see
later in the video.
Then, I got a text from my friend Kylie, and seeing as how I've never been to White Pocket
before, I headed down.
I'm not too sure how these things formed, but it kind of feels like a Walmart brand
version of the moon.
Then, I sent out an Instagram poll for my next challenge, and just as you might expect,
the winner was diving for Aztec gold in a haunted pond.
I mean, who wouldn't want to do that?
Let me explain.
So, this is the Three Lakes Pond, and there's probably treasure hidden in here, but it's
also definitely cursed by Aztec ghosts.
No one has gotten close to Montezuma's treasure.
Some believe it's in Kanab, Utah, and that it's hidden right here at the Three Lakes
Pond.
Some say that Montezuma's treasure could be worth more than $3 billion.
The Aztecs killed each other on the spot so that their spirits could protect the gold.
There is curse.
This is curse.
Every time there's been an attempt, there's been bad things that have happened.
People have died.
We had a well driller that died.
They drilled a four-inch hole on top of the cavern, and when they pulled it up, it had
gold flakes on top of the drill.
He went home that night and had a heart attack and died, and three weeks later, his wife
died.
Treasure hunters have spent more than $100,000 worth of equipment to dive into the lake,
but strange situations would stop them.
All of a sudden, the divers started screaming, I'm being choked out, I'm seeing ghosts,
I'm seeing ghosts.
Clearly, this pond is extremely dangerous, and it would take an absolute idiot to go
diving here with no experience, which really only leaves one man for the job.
About to get spooky.
If I don't come out alive, it's because Montezuma's ghosts got me, alright?
I don't know about no Aztec ghosts, but the cold might be why people died, honestly.
This is so freaky, man.
What if I actually found the treasure doing this?
How funny would that be?
Guys, we are in the cave.
We are in the cave where Montezuma's treasure is allegedly hidden.
There are a million dollars worth of gold right beneath me right now.
Let's go find it.
Oh my gosh, you should have seen the look on your face.
So yeah, I didn't find the gold, but as it turns out, the real treasure all along
was friendship, so I'm glad we could discover that together.
Next, we headed out into the desert in search of a hidden cave.
I had been trying to figure out where it is for months, and finally cracked the code.
But once we got to it, it was so much bigger than I ever would have expected.
This magnificent labyrinth had formed through ages of wind erosion, and was truly a hidden
gem of Kanab.
This is why I love the Southwest.
I then drove from Kanab to Page, and had my followers pick my next challenge.
Armed with only my unicycle and a box of donuts, I became the one-wheeled breakfast hero that
Lone Rock Beach deserved.
Grab it.
Okay, okay.
Go for it.
You want a donut?
Where are you from?
Florida.
Whoa, that's horrible.
Alright, have a good one.
This is the best donut I've gotten a delivery from.
I mean, we drove right up with a one-by-one, on sand, everywhere.
What's up?
David Ruhl here with another awesome action-packed vlog.
The next morning, I met up with my friend Kevin and his goons for a kayak adventure
down Lake Powell.
Are you kidding?
Good morning, everyone.
So today, we are going to be kayaking to Antelope Canyon on Lake Powell in Arizona.
First, we kayaked over to an island that would be our home base for the night, and we ate
lunch and set up our camp.
Then, it was time for the main adventure, and I couldn't be more excited for this.
Now, we're about to head over to Antelope Canyon and do a little kayak adventure through
there.
Wow, you look small layup.
We slowly kayaked through Antelope Canyon, taking in the beautiful views, and it slowly
became more and more narrow until finally we reached the end of the water.
Dude, I'm like the freaking sand frog.
The hike was through a beautiful sandstone canyon, and I couldn't recommend this place
enough for anyone going to Lake Powell.
And that just about wraps up my road trip controlled by my followers.
Thanks to everyone who's part of my community on Instagram, y'all did an awesome job.
The Southwest is a region that I can come back to time and time again without ever running
out of things to see and do, so you should definitely come check it out, too.
Oh, and I call dibs on half the gold if any of y'all find Montezuma's treasure.
Back in 1776, when the pilgrims came over to the U.S. on the Titanic and then had the
first supper with Jesus.
Oh, man, give me some Gatorade now.
I can give you beer if you'd like to, too.
Oh, no.
I didn't go there, but it is in Venezuela.
Yeah.
That place.
That's the tallest waterfall on the planet, right?
Yeah, it is the third one.
I'm not just a clown.
I'm the entire circus.
Buy my presets, like and subscribe.
Sam Kolder forever.
You need to match that energy.
Yeah, I can't.
