Huge changes are imminent for the Toronto Maple Leafs as in what has been a crazy last 48, 72 hours for this team.
Not only do we have some huge brand new reports that dropped this morning surrounding changes that are coming from the top to this team,
but we have some more information as the situation continues to get out of hand following the awesome Matthews State,
which is now stemmed to Brad Treliving, like you mentioned yesterday, calling out the players,
but some new details have emerged surrounding what he and of course,
those around him are planning going forward for this team and the future of this team,
not just the players, but the front office and everyone is in serious jeopardy now.
We're going to break down all these updates as well as the Leafs making multiple moves,
and of course, some other actual hockey stuff on ice product that I've been to today,
but before you get into it, a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
Ladies and gentlemen, about 70% of you who are watching right now aren't subscribed.
It's free and also make sure to check us out on Facebook.
There is a lot to go over today and we're going to be having a ton of different things.
We're going to dive into the Brad Treliving stuff even deeper now because there's a lot of brand new reports,
but I want to start with this one here and you can see from Brad Treliving himself,
and this is new, there are certainly some changes we need to make.
There are changes they're going to make and I just want to start with this before we dive into the rest of the things.
There is huge changes are imminent here.
It's very interesting though to hear this from Brad Treliving before the season ends
because last week when he was asked about this, he basically said we're going to wait a little bit,
but I guess the pressures got to him a little bit in the sense of he had to say something like this
and it's obvious they do need to make changes and I'm hoping they make the right ones
and not the Matias Micheli decision that we covered yesterday.
Now, the changes that need to be made, is this based on how the team performed this year
or is this based on what happened last week with Austin Matthews?
Because, you know, you can make the argument of both,
but it's become abundantly clear to me at this point through
and we're going to make our way through some quotes and some new reports that have come out here
that this team from the coaching to the general manager to ownership to Keith Pelly, whatever,
nobody has a plan.
There's no plan in place right now and they keep talking about how there's going to be a plan
and every time we hit a benchmark every time we hit a, you know, checkpoint for a plan.
They tell us that there is a plan coming there.
They don't have one.
I don't know how some of these guys are still employed.
It's a crazy to me and that quote again.
I don't know what's that what that's based off of.
So now are you going to make changes like trading me Lander because the team needs to get tougher
and you're going to bring in more guys like Ryan Reeves.
I don't think that's the way you want to go.
I think you need a culture where everyone stands up for each other,
but you have skilled players right your most skilled players.
Connor McDavid was in a fight last week to write your most skilled players should just have that heart
and that toughness and that's how you'll find success.
Look at the Florida Panthers right there.
Best players have that as well.
So you can see this into to that,
you know people above Keith Pelly believe that this is a player issue.
It's not just a player issue.
It is they have to figure that out.
And hopefully that was a bit of a turning point for some of the guys on the team
because I still believe some of them are going to be sticking around
but it's a coaching thing as well.
The system sucks.
The goaltending props the system up a lot.
We all know this and the general manager doesn't have a plan going into the trade deadline.
I think you rushed into a lot of those trades as well,
right and you hear things,
you know, like the Matias Michelli thing that we covered yesterday,
Nick and a lot of people are like,
is that true?
Could that just be Myrtle and Siegel putting that out there?
Well, I feel like there is some truth to it.
We'll get to wine a little bit as well.
And also because you look at articles that came out from Joshua cloak about,
you know,
Scott Lawton,
his departure and how he wanted to stay and there was no contract extension even in
play,
right?
So I think it's all very interesting from management to ownership right now.
I don't think there is even a lick of a plan.
Nope,
not a not a not that was just horrifying to say and we can go over a little bit of
what happened yesterday.
Like Freeman said,
the Bradshaw living called some of the players and was livid in lack of due to the
lack of response to the Austin Matthews.
We heard today from Craig Ruber that he's been harping on every practice again.
They have bigger problems than just the than just that,
but it is notable to see now.
We also went on to say you can feel free to pause and read the whole thing that
there are things that are as we go forward.
We've got a plan to put in place underperform this year.
Certainly changes you need to make and that's all a part of the plan that we're
going to formulate going forward and that those questions will be answered.
So he's putting no,
no,
I don't think confidence in any Leafs fans and currently,
you know,
in the state that we are in as fans,
obviously hoping for a top five pick.
It is on Bradshaw living.
Now,
of course,
some of it is on the players as well.
They're the ones who didn't play well this year and Craig Ruber system was really
bad.
Bradshaw living put the team together.
They didn't get a top six pick or top six forward.
Sorry,
and now you're hoping to get a top five pick and there's also a ton of other
reports here that you can see and we'll be diving into these throughout the week,
of course,
but there is there is a lot of internal conversations and external conversations
from,
you know,
reporters and things like that.
I think you could see one of the fourth John out there at your living senses
started trend towards that.
He's more likely gone than not.
I mean,
I would agree with that and hopefully he is but yeah,
it's gotten a little bit out of hand at this point and all the way dating back
to the Mattias Michelli stuff as you can see him talking with the guy who made
the report right here.
Yeah,
enjoy.
Well,
he's talking with Jonah Siegel who's one of the guys that reported that yesterday
along with James Myrtle as well,
which I thought this was interesting.
Terry Koshan tweeted this out and a lot of people yesterday were like,
well,
Myrtle's just putting that out there.
Who knows if it's actually that true?
Well,
that looks to me like it's Mattias Michelli talking with Jonah Siegel this morning.
So I'm sure something's going to come out either later today or tomorrow about
that.
So I'm sure there's some truth to it.
And this team wants to employ Max Domi instead of a guy like Mattias Michelli,
which I get like the rah-rah stuff.
I get it.
You need more of that in the lineup for sure.
We've talked about that for years,
but Mattias Michelli,
even if his price tag is too high qualify the guy and then trade him.
He's worth something.
Don't just let him walk for nothing.
That doesn't make sense to me.
That's kind of what I was trying to get across yesterday in that video.
We did but I think there's just the one thing that I think stands out to me right
now is true livings answers Nick and let me know if maybe I'm way off base here
because it seems to me like this is a guy that probably knows he's gone or he's
been told that he's gone and he's just like a face right now for the rest of the
season to kind of go out there because look at some of these answers.
There's no substance to any of these answers anymore.
You look at last season last offseason.
I was like,
all right,
I'm I'm with the Bradshaw living you're seeing the things I'm seeing let's
execute upon them and then he proceeded to not execute upon anything,
you know through last summer into this year in terms of what we thought he was
going to and what he said he was going to and now we're here where he's giving
answers like we will put a plan in place.
We need to make changes.
He's not elaborating.
Obviously, he's not going to tell you exactly what he's going to do.
But a lot of these types of answers and calling the players to say these things
are unacceptable and and all that stuff.
A lot of this just seems very vague to me in terms of you know,
yeah, we'll have a plan in place.
You know this this season didn't go to plan.
There's no like what happened to the we want to work with Joseph wall because
he is injured and we want to have a plan in place and the plan is,
you know working with this trainer and we want to get him to a point where he's
going to play this many games.
What happened to answers like that?
Like it's very interesting to me.
It just seems like all of this like is maybe propped up for the time being and
then it's all going to fall apart,
you know,
once they start firing guys as soon as the season's done to
me. Is it a player problem?
Nick? Yes, I think so.
Let us know in the comments below right?
You got to stand up for your guy.
You have to stand up for your guy,
especially your captain and a lot of people were pointing out Matthews
wouldn't have done the same.
I've seen Matthews do that.
I've seen Matthew stand up for other there was a time in st.
Louis. There's another time.
I think it was against Florida as well.
You know, the time in st.
Louis was Mitch Marner got dummied and then he came in to say something and
he was throwing hands a little bit and roughing up.
I can't remember who it was.
So I've seen it from Matthews before.
Does he do it every game?
No, maybe not,
but I've seen it before.
So you got to stand up for your guy.
So yes, it's a player problem in that regard,
but the coaches system sucks.
The only thing you did all year was fire the assistant coach to mix anything
up. You didn't call up any Marley's until now.
You didn't make a trade in over 200 days,
you know, like a lot of you know,
a lot of this has to fall on the coaching and the GM as well,
but there is a problem with the player personnel as well.
Yeah, it seems like Brad's living is probably on his way out.
We're going to have a video on that.
I mean, obviously there's going to be a lot of them.
They're currently 11 points out of that second wildcard spot.
And before we do wrap up a couple other things,
he did talk about us and Matthews as well and basically said nothing.
He said he's on a contract and continue to play,
you know, play their cards as if he is,
which again, there's a lot of videos to kind of cover all this.
But for now, yeah, changes are coming.
Will that be Brad's living gone?
Will that be in the player?
Will William Nylander trade?
There's a lot to discuss and we'll keep you up to date.
But speaking of the player side,
a couple other moves Michael Posetta,
Henry Thrawn reassigned to the Marley.
So we got Michael Posetta for one game
and then he got a couple games where it was
and then he got sent down.
Henry Thrawn also reassigned.
And then, of course, ahead of the games happening here tonight,
you can see some of the lines as well.
Michelli getting on that first line,
like the games aren't that exciting to watch,
but also it's stress-free hockey,
kind of hoping that they lose most of the time
while also having some good performances from guys like Bo Gruel,
who hopefully can maybe push himself into a spot now
where he can play in that bottom bottom six
and they can upgrade the top six.
Any thoughts on any of these,
any of these minor moves before we wrap up?
Ultimately, actually, the Posetta one's a little interesting.
They barely gave him any run,
which typical Leafs fashion.
There is, there's a little bit of that for sure,
which I think is funny because he probably should be in a lineup.
But the other thing to keep in mind is the Marleys play in the afternoon today.
So I think they're just sending them back to get back in that game.
It's a, it's March break right now.
So it's like a, you know, the kids get into the game and all that stuff.
So like a next-gen game or whatever they call it.
So that's the reason they were sent down.
They're playing in that game this afternoon.
OEL, by the way, you know, might not play as well.
Congratulations to him. Just had a baby as well, him and his wife.
So congratulations to them.
He is a game time decision, but I doubt he plays tonight.
So that's the reason behind some of those moves as well.
And the last thing on Austin Matthews that I want to bring up too,
is he spoke out, I can't remember when,
but it was maybe two months ago about the way the Leafs play this season.
And he said we need to play with the puck more.
So that's a complete contradiction to what the coach likes to do,
which is dump the puck in and go get it.
So there's a clear disconnect to me
between everybody in the organization right now.
So there's got to be a major shake-up, a major shake-up this season.
And I don't have any faith in MLSE,
the organization that constantly gaslights its fans,
that constantly makes you believe that they know better than you
and insult our intelligence.
I don't have faith that they can get it done,
but we know what needs to be done.
There needs to be changes to the player personnel.
I don't think the coach can return.
And the GM has sat on his hand for almost an entire season at this point.
Yeah, we'll let you know what the latest news is.
A lot of stuff coming and hopefully some of what we're hearing is true
regarding Brad's potentially being out,
but also there's going to be a lot of smoke screens with the media.
So we'll keep you up to date. We'll see you over there.
