The NBA is clearly messing with the Grizzlies here...

The NBA is clearly messing with the Memphis Grizzlies here now
This has nothing really to do with any kind of in-game action
But we did hear some reports over the weekend about the new expansion teams coming in the 2028-29 season now
This involves Seattle this involves Las Vegas
Seattle yes coming back for all you 80s and 90s even older basketball fans
For the expansion teams coming in 2028 and then even for Minnesota and possibly Memphis
How is Memphis already getting screwed out of it? And why does this not make sense for them?
so
Thanks for tuning in everybody
Jerral tour for another episode of Grizzlies digest bring you the latest news and updates not really anything
basketball related per se like not in-game not necessarily talking about
Kareem Lopez or camp boozer or Zach Edie or a camp Spencer or
Cedric Howard or anything like that, but we are talking about some interesting developments that had Grizzlies fans talking over the weekend
Now this had to do
with the fact
This is from poly market hoops on X. So they said
They reported that the Timberwolves are expected to join the Eastern Conference in the 2028-29 season due to NBA expansion
with Las Vegas and Seattle
With both teams expected to join it in the West
Minnesota will likely move to the east to create
to
16 team conferences
so
Nothing exactly yet on the Grizzlies, but it's pretty clear
That if there is going to be a two Western Conference teams, which should obviously be
Las Vegas and Seattle
Moving to that Western Conference. It should be pretty obvious that if Minnesota is gonna move to the east
Well, you think that Memphis should absolutely do the same exact thing
In fact, and you look at our a little map here
You can clearly see this was posted by someone on X who got a lot of engagements with it over
Thousand likes on it and you can clearly see which
Pat is more East here
Memphis, Tennessee, I
Mean that up north is, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio
Michigan
You got the bordering North Carolina, Virginia
South Carolina, Georgia
You know, I mean we're talking a little SEC a little Atlantic a little Midwest action, but either way
you're looking at this and you're going well, this is obviously a
thing for Memphis to
absolutely participate in if there haven't been talks about them to do it already and
It kind of gives them a new chance to experiment of what competition is like anywhere else
Of course a little bit about the history of the Memphis Grizzlies they were founded as the Vancouver Grizzlies back in
1995
moved to Memphis in
the
2001 2002 season and they've been
in Memphis ever since so
You think okay?
they just they have the tradition and the history of being a Western Conference team as well as Minnesota for
All these years they've been here
but
This really just doesn't make a whole lot of sense at all. And it's like well, okay
Well, we're just kind of waiting for the NBA to kind of say the same thing
but except they really haven't been and is that because of some kind of
Relocation Mary there say that our word
Possibly but you never really know about what's going on at this point, but this is from Parker Fleming
We've gone over some of his content before but he said
Our case for why the Memphis Grizzlies could be in a good spot with expansion of why they should
Move to the Eastern Conference
So this is what he had to say here should the Grizzlies move to the east. He says
Absolutely. Yes, they should for years now
Everyone has said the Grizzlies should be in the east it makes sense for sure after all because they're east of the Mississippi River
While it would have meant a decade of LeBron James on the road to the finals
there's an idea the Grizzlies would be better positioned for success in the Eastern Conference and
Sham Sharani reported that the Grizzlies and Timberwolves are the candidates to move east under the assumption that
Seattle and Las Vegas to West Bay cities receive teams
The point could be moot if an Eastern based city wins a bid such as Louisville
Virginia Beach
Tampa etc. So right now already off the bat. I
Mean, it's it's almost like one of two things. So either look you're for some reason keeping Memphis to east a secret for now
or
You're just waiting Adam silver and the executives are just waiting for the right time
to drop a nuke on all of
the
city of Memphis and say well
We're actually planning on moving to
Tampa Florida, you know weather's better there
You know, they got the Buccaneers and they got the lightning and why not give them an NBA team?
Oh, and they got the Tampa Bay Rays
Why not give them the team for the big four?
So that would be the most I think the most screwed route for Grizzlies fans if that were to actually happen
But interesting though how we got some news I mean some you know, we gotta be something
from
You know this source saying, okay. Well the Minnesota Devils are expected to
Join the Eastern Conference and in the next few years, I'm like, okay. Well
It seems like the Grizzlies wouldn't that wouldn't be that far off of the list here
But this is what Fleming had to add geographically Memphis is more vertically aligned with Eastern Conference cities like Milwaukee
Chicago and Indiana
Memphis is also has easier to access to Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami
However, Minnesota is closer grouped with the clutter in the central division cities
aforementioned plus Cleveland and Detroit
Both teams have justified reasons to go to the east who should go though
The most efficient way to look at this is travel. I think this is about the best way that you could probably describe a
move like this
But I mean, it's it's math, but it's pretty simple
Once we break it down the NBA at Seattle in Las Vegas the Western Conference. I'll actually go fullscreen here to the Western Conference
Here's how the cities would compare and travel by air miles to each West City total together
Memphis
18,316
Minneapolis
18,647 here's how the city's compare and air miles told together for Eastern Conference teams
Memphis
10,557 Minneapolis
12,689 when comparing Memphis and Minneapolis air miles to each team of the Eastern Conference
Memphis has the edge in 9 of the 15 cities with significant advantages to getting the teams
Getting to the teams, excuse me in the southwest division
Atlanta Charlotte, Orlando, Washington, Miami. So yeah, there you go. I mean, it's just a different
Southwest division
You're looking at it from the east. I mean, it's basically a southeast division. I would say
That would be the only correction there. I would have on Fleming's article
But yeah, I mean you're right there like Atlanta
Charlotte Orlando, Washington, Miami
My personal idea for what I think the NBA could do every year is
get a
some kind of alternate
MLK game with Memphis versus Atlanta every year make them switch
Home arenas every year. I think that would be an amazing tradition. I think it makes sense and
you know, you have kind of a
holiday tradition to look forward to every year
Little Eastern Conference battle, maybe make that a little stir that up and do a little rivalry
And then of course, I mean Miami, you know, there could be a lot going on with that if you honest and BAM are still there
You look at Charlotte. They got something clearly going with Conkin nipple
You know, they just got Nas read from Minnesota so speaking of Minnesota a lot going on there and
Yeah, you also have what else do we have here
Yeah, I mean Orlando, Washington, I mean, yeah
clearly you have an edge there in terms of the
proximity
We're comparing Minnesota and Memphis and we'll go. Okay. Well, it's fine
If you want to put Minnesota in the Eastern Conference, nobody's we're not complaining about that. We're saying okay
Well, if you're gonna do that Memphis is way more of a East Southeast team in
Retrospect so again, I just feel like we're kind of waiting on some announcement at some point
We don't know when that's gonna be could be some point
this season
could be in the next
Two to three months. I had no idea
But you think with the next two years
2028 29 season dropping in
About a couple of years from now. You think that that's gonna be something that
Memphis fans are gonna look forward to or
That they're gonna pay attention to if they do indeed move conferences
But I think that is something that is in the works, but it's just the NBA. I mean, what are we doing here?
I mean we you know
We want to be able to get ready for
Getting the expansion ready because I think that Memphis is going to have
They're gonna have a say and be involved in this expansion whether they want to or not
And that should be them moving from the West to the East
At least some different competition and I honestly prefer it. I mean, I love it. Love the idea
Love an idea of Las Vegas, especially love the idea of a Seattle basketball team coming back
I hope it's called the Seattle Supersonics and then you bring back the
the green and yellow ish logos or even the
The 90s logo is really fun. But anyway
That's gonna do it for us. Thank you so much for watching the video can like this video comments
We have shared this video leave a comment below. Hey, where do you want to see Memphis?
do you still want to see him in the West want to see him competing in the East and
Hopefully one of you think the NBA is gonna drop some kind of bombshell
Because I mean we're about two years away from that
But I mean you feel like we got to know at some point soon
So let us know in the comments down below what you think and thanks so much for watching the video. See you the next one
