I'm excited to see what we can do. But this is Mike and Nori as he was talking to a NBA serious XM over the weekend and he says I take people at their word. And by the way, this is a quote referring to if how the starting lineup is going to look how the bench is gonna look if John Moran's gonna start there's obviously a lot of Reason to believe that he will start next to Damian Lillard At least that's what the insiders have been saying, but this is what Mike and Nori said about John Morant Possibly on the bench He says I take people at the word you can say it and if as come to that I'll say hey you said you didn't care number one But the second thing is I really believe guys like John Morant Lillard holiday that have been through It and have been wanting to win or excuse me have been through it and been around Want to win winning is the most important thing if you can put yourself in a position to do that whether it's coming off the bench Or starting as long as you can get your minutes. I would never say it's easy now this is Something that we it's kind of throwing Blazers fans for a little curveball Now this is obviously a question that they're gonna have to answer before the regular season starts Now there's obvious reason to believe that Morant still a starting point guard in this league, but where does Damian Lillard go? What about Shaden Sharp? Scoot Henderson True holiday you've got a lot of great guards on that team and then you've got Guys that can also compete as well. Look at come our Camara look at clinging Young Hansen is actually he's coming off a great summer league game on Monday night, but either way you have a lot of guards if you're Portland and you really got to learn how to prioritize that now, this is not saying that John Moran is gonna come off the bench on day one but These are words that we I didn't really expect to hear from Mike and Noria I thought he was one to say, okay. Well, we got our guy. We got John Moran He's one of the he was one of the biggest superstars in the game three years ago and now we're talking about possibly him coming off the bench and that's not all because of his sort of downfall or whatever you want to call it, but that's just because they have a lot of guards and Memphis will go over it in a little bit, but they are doing a lot better In positioning players right now. I was very worried about how they would position the backup big man situation how they would Prioritize the KCP situation tied to Rome situation, but it looks like those guys are gonna stay But this is what John Moran said himself Just a few days ago And this is about him talking about his past I've done what I've done in the past, but it's been addressed and handled already. I don't know I don't see why years later. That's still the topic when nothing's happened since and yeah, I mean, he's right you know, it's it's time to move on from all that all the Instagram stuff all the The beef with The Lakers or his dad getting involved. I mean now it's time to move on from that. I mean that was 2023 This is 2026 Now we're not talking about John Moran the player the same we did in 2026 compared to 2023 But that's not our fault That he needs to get back to form. He needs to stay on the court It's a large reason as to why Memphis just could not deal with him anymore and said hey look we love you But from a basketball standpoint, we're gonna have to move and now I think the Grizzlies look a lot better With leading with Cameron Boozer Cedric Coward Zach Edie, they're gonna be the leaders of the future. This is team is quickly going in a new direction and It didn't have John Moran's name on it, that's just the cold hard truth, but this was also Chris Haynes and This was him a few weeks ago. So this is kind of going back to the Micah Norrie quote that I showed you just a Couple minutes ago, excuse me the Portland Trailblazers envision a starting backcourt of Morant and Dame Lillard and Why would they not I mean not Damian Lillard now he? Didn't play last year either John Moran, hopefully these are two guys that are Excited willing to go back to action, but Dame is a 36 year old Guard it's hard to believe he's been the late since 2012. I can remember 2012 like it was six hours ago But yeah, I mean entering his 15th NBA season John Morant Entering what would be his eighth NBA season now hasn't played a whole lot in the past three seasons So you kind of feel like it really hasn't played eight years at all because he hasn't in the NBA, but This is this is probably the best idea that you should have for Portland But Mike and already talking about John Moran is if he should be on the bench. Now, that's something that's probably head-scratching to a lot of Blazers fans and for Grizzlies fans They should be jumping up and down right now. They should be doing cartwheels because Never in a million years. Did they dream of a coach talking about John Moran like this? And now they have and they got rid of him and they made the good choice. They made a good choice to get rid of But this is the future. I mean look now He's got a lot more reps to kind of prove that he is Full-time starting material base, but I think because he knows the system him and to Masi Salo seemed to get along Him his teammates seem to trust him We've seen what he can do as a starting point guard in a playoff game 30 points. I know that's like we're going going off of one game here, but he is The best option you might have other than Ty Jerome. We'll get to Ty Jerome in just a minute, but he knows the Grizzlies system in the 2024-25 campaign he came out as I thought a real scrappy player Real underrated defender, especially for his size But for Scottie Pippen, I mean that They'd be your best option right now, but it's when you're comparing the two between Scottie and John Moran It's kind of a little unfair but You got to think about your best fit Just like coach Herb Brooks said with the 1980 US hockey team. I don't want the best players. I want the right ones Scottie Pippen jr. Is one of the right guys at this time for the Memphis Grizzlies But for Ty Jerome to know he's he fits too because he's a little bit of a bigger guard He has such a great three-point jump shot. Yes Unlimited range from outside It has a floater game that he's only gotten better at the past three seasons And he could be he's trusted. He's reliable. He's got a few more great years in this league I think and whether he's starting or coming off the bench I'm assuming there's gonna be a point guard committee between Pippen and Jerome because you think the rest of the lineup is already there with Cedric Coward Jeremy Grant cam boozer and Zach Keady you think that there's that little committee there. So again You're looking at these two faces and I understand you're like, okay. Well, this is not John Moran, you know What are you talking about?
