The Mets are shocking everyone Juan Soto Francisco Lindor and basically the entire
Mets lineup continues to stifle opposing pitchers. Meanwhile the Mets rotations doing just enough and
the bullpen including new acquired veterans and veterans getting their first shot such as Nate
Lavender are taking the absolute most of their opportunities so far this season. What's going
on guys I'm Josh Byrne you're tuned into Mets Digest guys thanks so much for all the support.

tonight's game by a score of 7 to 5 and although things got dicey there at the end what a pleasure
it's been to watch this team in the second half of the season because you think about how horrible
things have gone for the New York Mets during 2026 and it's easy to forget that a good chunk of
this season now they've been playing really good and obviously that makes it a shame that they fell
out of the playoffs so quickly but the point remains is that ever since Andy Green took over
as the interim manager for the New York Mets they've been playing winning baseball and ever
since the trade deadline when the Mets sold off some of their best pieces on the team they are now
19 and 10. It's pretty unbelievable what they have done since then obviously it hasn't been enough
to get them back into the playoff mix but to be able to watch a team play good baseball
play winning baseball complimentary baseball is not something that I think many people expected
to see at all this year and you have to give credit first off to the veterans because both
Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto missed lengthy periods of time this year and in the case of
Francisco Lindor he missed about half the season has dealt with a lot of negative press and some of
it deserved I will admit that some of it deserved his on-field play has taken a hit specifically
defensively but he continues to post up every single day and he's producing he's producing
and while his numbers overall are down versus prior seasons this is a guy who has now played
in 88 games this year and has 17 home runs one of the most powerful short stops in the game he
continues to be and that's promising I know Lindor is a divisive figure some people really love him
some people don't I have not been shy that I'm I'm a big pro Lindor guy but I understand
the criticisms that come with him he's been a frustrating player at times to watch and to root
for and especially this season but I think he does deserve a little bit of credit here
for playing out the string and producing because whether you like him or not Francisco Lindor is
going to be a part of the Mets next year and they need him so that is a positive to see another
positive from another guy they're obviously going to have a need is what they're getting
from Juan Soto and Juan Soto was a guy who had rumors swirling that he may not even come back
this season not necessarily because he wasn't going to be physically able to do so but because
people argued what was the point and I understand that because from a playoff perspective there
wasn't much of a point but he's come back and he's looked like the same old guy and you got
to understand this is a player in Juan Soto he was looking to make the hall of fame who is looking to
put up numbers that are appropriate for his contract he hears the noise he hears the people
saying he's overpaid don't believe that he's not he absolutely is and after a couple of quiet nights
he's back to looking like himself no surprise there hopefully next season he can stay healthy
and play close to 162 games hopefully we get 162 games to watch but who will be the manager during
that time well we know it's not going to be Andy Green but I think you have to give him a massive
round of applause for what he's done yeah that might sound a little bit aggressive some are
going to say oh well there's no pressure yada yada I don't care there's always pressure in
you can't tell me there's not there's been so many teams that have turned things around
and the Mets have unfortunately they dug themselves too big of a hole where it wasn't
reasonable to expect anybody to be able to pull them out of the mathematical conundrum that they
put themselves in in terms of the wins and losses but they have been a better team these past two
months there's no doubt about it and when you talk about the reasons why AJ not AJ Ewing well AJ
Ewing has played well but if you talk about one of the reasons why a guy like AJ Ewing has played
well and has been able to fight through the struggles and if you talk about the reasons
why a guy in a new role like Kodai Senga has been able to thrive or a veteran getting his first real
shot in Nate Lavender it goes back to me in part to Andy Green because he has shown that he is a
masterful communicator and that's important because when you take into account the fact
that this guy was the former vice president of player development for the New York Mets
his ability to speak to players and get the most out of them and challenge them in all the right
ways is shining through especially with those young players but also with these guys like
Nate Lavender, Kodai Senga who aren't spring chickens but are needed and this is a positive
sign for the Mets and let me know what you guys think down in the comments below
about what to make of it as always guys let's go Mets
