Let me introduce you to our adventure cars. Subaru Outback Wilderness 2022 with roof rack and roof top tent by Frontrunner.
If you're looking for a new adventure car for overlanding, road trips, camping, off-roading,
let me introduce you to the beast made by Subaru – Outback Wilderness and why I've chosen it as
my adventure car. Since last year I was looking for a car to go overlanding, camping, but also
to drive in a city. My top two choices were Toyota 4Runner TRD Offroad and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon,
but I ended up getting Outback Wilderness. Let me explain why. My criterias for the car were
powerful engine, able to go off-road, comfort for long drives, technology, safety features and of
course not bad MPGs. I couldn't decide between 4Runner and Wrangler. They look good, they're
powerful. 4Runner is more reliable and comfortable, but the MPGs suck and dashboard is outdated. On
the other hand, Wrangler has better MPGs, dashboard looks cool, but it's not as comfortable and
reliable as 4Runner. It's a tough choice. I'm sure my fellow overlanders know what I'm talking
about. So one day I found out about Subaru Outback Wilderness package made for off-road
and I have to confess I always thought that Subaru cars are boring, but the Wilderness package,
oh boy, that thing is awesome. It looks cool, it's powerful, features are amazing,
it's comfortable, has better MPGs and multimedia system than 4Runner and Wrangler and it's cheaper.
This car has everything I was looking for. Let's talk about features, performance and price.
Subaru Outback Wilderness has all-wheel drive, 9.5 inches of ground clearance, front skid plate,
redesigned front and rear bumpers, off-road wheels and tires, turbocharged engine, new strong
roof rails, anti-glare hood, amazing leather seat, 11.6 inch Subaru Starlink touchscreen,
driver assist technology and not bad MPGs. Not a bad list of cool features, right? But how this
car actually performs? Let's find out. Outback Wilderness has 260 turbocharged horsepower
engine that delivers 277 feet of torque and 3,500 pounds of towing capacity. Just take a look.
Official listed MPGs are 21 city, 26 highway. My MPGs are lower, about 18 city, 22-23 highway
with the roof rack and rooftop tent about 20 which I think still not bad. Suspension and its
features in this car are really impressive. Upgraded and retuned X mode with settings for
deep snow, sand and mud that lets you take it on a good adventure. This car is capable but also very
comfortable. Seats are well made, leather feels great. We've had a few road trips so far and we
really enjoyed driving long distances with this car. And now I finally get a chance to talk about
my favorite things about this car. Inside the car you find a gorgeous 11.6 inch Subaru Starlink
touchscreen that's so fun and so easy to use. And should I even mention a good quality sound
system that makes your road trips even better. Speaking of safety system, we have blind spot
sensors, braking assist, eyesight that warns you when you swaying out of your lane and also
monitors traffic. Very useful and helpful feature. Since this car offers you so much, you probably
want to know the price. The car I have cost about 41 000 US dollars which beats the price of 4Runner
TRD Offroad and Wrangler Rubicon that cost a lot more. We talked about performance, features and
price but what if you want to go camping, overlanding, what do we need? And for that I
personally have roof rack and rooftop tent by Frontrunner. This is our camping setup Subaru
Outback Wilderness plus Frontrunner roof rack and rooftop tent. Why Frontrunner? Well I've heard a
lot of great things about their product. They have great selection of accessories plus their shop is
20 minutes away from me so I decided to check it out and I was really impressed. You can see and
touch a lot of their product. They have cool stands with car bills for off-road nice and knowledgeable
employees. One thing I have to say, manual for rooftop tent needs improvement but overall installation
process is easy and simple. Now let me show you the roof rack and rooftop tent. We have Slimline 2
rail roof rack that's light and strong. Very convenient, has modular construction that lets you
add or remove slots, attach accessories to top, bottom or sides and transport cool stuff for your
adventures. Best part, you don't have to drill it. It installs on your factory rails using grab-on feet.
You can also remove it anytime you like. It comes with wind deflector that helps with noise. Now to
rooftop tent. It's the lowest profile top tent on the market. Only 330 millimeters high which
helps with wind resistance and MPGs. This tent is for two people, weights 43 kilograms which is about
90 pounds, 1.3 meters wide, 2.4 meters long when open, has comfortable foam mattress and skylight
The tent is made out of good quality materials.
This summer we were camping in the forest. The campground was on top of the mountain,
gorgeous place. I have videos about it, I'll put link in the description so you can check it out
later on. The day was beautiful, the weather was nice, some wind but once it got dark the temperature
dropped below 50. It was freezing. This picture of me shows you exactly how happy I was. It was my
first time sleeping in the tent. I mean I'm so thankful that the tent stayed warm and in the
morning I woke up looking at the sunrise. It was just amazing. The tent was comfortable, easy to
set up and overall so far I've had great experience with it. I've had this car since February 2022. It
has about 5000 miles in it. First few months I did not travel much due to war in my home country
Ukraine, I'm sure you can understand. So far we've taken a few road trips, been to different campings,
done some light off-roading. I have to say I'm really impressed with the car. It's powerful,
comfortable, has pretty good MPGs, it's good for camping with a rooftop tent and to be honest
I wouldn't change a single thing about the car. It's just perfect for me. Subaru, if you're watching
this somehow you have done an amazing job and I want to thank you for it. Overall I'm impressed
and highly satisfied with the car and Frontrunner product. If you're looking for an adventure car
this is it. Thank you so much for watching, I hope you found this review useful. Let me know if you
