For the space junkies or just the curious minded, it is always interesting to know what is flying far above our heads.Unfortunately, city lights or cloudy skies make it almost impossible to spot objects of interest. The goal of this project was to build an interactive display piece that can track and show the movement of space objects in the vicinity. While there are many thousands of objects flying around the Earth, we have narrowed the objects of interest to active satellites in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). In total, about 1200 satellites are being searched for. The information gathered about each satellite includes satellite name, unique ID, year launched, corresponding launch number of that year, longitude, latitude, and altitude.
go hi my name is Pavel Bure zosky hi I'm
harissa and today we'll be talking about
a project for embedded operating systems
which is a space object tracker so this
is the tracker that we built and right
now it's tracking satellites over the
coordinates 0 & 0 we can see the
different types of satellites that are
flying over the specified coordinates
right now for example there are 2
satellites that are weather one that is
for navigation and one miscellaneous so
if we tap on the screen we can see more
information about the satellites
specifically the names and if you want
even more information we can tap them
again and we can say see specific
information such as their unique ID the
year they were launched the number of
the launch and the specific longitude
latitude and altitude that they're
flying at right now and we can go and
look at more satellites as many as we
like and this LED matrix here is showing
how the satellites are flying over the
specified location so that the look the
location we specified is right at the
center 0 0 so the saddle the pixels that
are moving a representative of each
satellite flying so right now we can see
that the satellite moved up and in a
couple of seconds and again yeah so we
also have the ability to type the new
coordinates so that we can see here we
can type in new coordinates so that
becomes the center of our search and we
get the 5 by 5 degrees field of view
around that Center so for example if I
type in 38
49 I can enter new coordinates and it
will start a new search so every time a
set of new coordinates is entered it
requires a few seconds to let localize
the information so right now it's doing
that localization where it searches for
the satellite and in about there we go
we caught we have new satellites flying
over the new coordinates and
very nice thank you
