AI GeneratedThe narrator visits Rosewood Amsterdam, a five-star luxury hotel housed in the city's former palace of justice. The experience focuses on a high-end afternoon tea service, evaluating whether the €68 price point is justified through the quality of the food, the hotel's stunning design, and the overall level of service.
You would probably never guess what this luxury hotel used to be.
This is Rosewood Amsterdam, one of the city's newest five-star hotels.
But before guests were welcomed here, this building was Amsterdam's palace of justice.
A lovely subscriber asked me to try their afternoon tea, so here I am today.
And at 68 euros per person, I'm curious to see if it's worth it.
When you walk in, the atmosphere immediately feels luxurious.
There's so much to take in wherever you look.
From the materials and furniture, to the art and all the thoughtful design details.
It feels like the kind of luxury hotel where you naturally slow down
and take a moment to appreciate your surroundings.
The afternoon tea area itself is beautiful and feels private.
But after such a strong first impression, my expectations were high.
And I have to say, the table setting felt slightly underwhelming.
You are served a sparkling tea as a welcome drink,
and then a green jasmine tea to go with the savory courses.
The flavor combinations felt very intentional,
with a lovely balance between fish, meat and elements of authentic Dutch cuisine.
One of my favorites was the egg sandwich with caviar.
And this was also when I realized just how good the food was.
Which made me even more excited for what was still to come.
I also just have to mention the butter.
Just look how cute it is.
Shaped like a little flower.
I've recently started making my own butter at home.
Although I'm definitely still figuring it out.
So I was wondering if I could ever make something this pretty myself.
The sweet treats are introduced to you at a bar.
And each one is explained by the pastry chef.
This is a lovely touch, because you could see everything up close
and hear the vision of each bite.
This chocolate pastry was my absolute favorite.
It had everything I love in a dessert.
Richness, texture, a little crunch,
and a combination of soft chocolate mousse with a brownie underneath.
It was honestly so good that I'm still thinking about it.
The service was genuinely kind.
And everyone made you feel that almost any request was welcome.
This one was also surprisingly very good.
The outside is covered in white chocolate with a mandarin cheesecake filling
that is likely to leave a lasting impression.
There was just one small thing I think could be improved.
The tea could be refilled a little bit more often.
There were a few moments when I was waiting for more tea.
And as someone who really loves tea, I can finish a cup quite quickly.
For me, never having an empty cup is also part of the luxury experience.
And I think this small detail would fit perfectly
with the level of luxury Rosewood already represents.
What made a visit even more special was being given a tour of the hotel afterwards.
And I really enjoyed seeing more of the hotel and discover all the beautiful details.
We were also shown one of the hotel's most exclusive residences,
which can cost around €12,000 per night.
And the bathroom took my breath away for a moment.
The bath and shower were absolutely beautiful.
Honestly, the whole hotel inspires my own home decor.
It just feels like walking through a real life Pinterest board.
But I came here for the afternoon tea.
So the question is, is the Rosewood Amsterdam afternoon tea worth it?
For me, yes.
Not because it's the most traditional afternoon tea experience.
And not because every detail was perfect.
But because the food was excellent.
The hotel itself is extraordinary.
The service was great.
And there was so much more to discover beyond the afternoon tea itself.
I would absolutely come back.
Perhaps for another seasonal afternoon tea.
Or even combine it with a stay.
For me, Rosewood is one of those places
where the experience starts the moment you walk through the door.
I think there's something really special about spending an afternoon here.
And for me, it truly lives up to the standards of a five-star luxury hotel.
But I would love to know what you think of the Rosewood.
Would you come here for an afternoon tea?
