Rangers make multiple moves... WILD Rangers Updates | NYR News

The New York Rangers have made multiple new moves to their roster ahead of their next game and have revealed what the plan is for the goaltending position moving forward after the devastating Igor Shesterkin injury update reveals that he will miss the rest of this season. There are a lot of question marks in the position, but Mike Sullivan also speaks out towards those who say that the Rangers season is over, that this group's season is completely lost now that Igor's out. He's saying, no, no, no, not so fast. we're going to break down exactly what he's saying all of the new updates and the roster moves that they made because they made quite a few and there's a lot going on and some implications on the salary cap there's a lot of interesting moves that they've made for kind of damage control over the last 24 hours and we're going to break those down as well as what the future holds in this episode but before we jump into all of that guys a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button we've noticed that about 80% of you guys who watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel so if you want to stay up to date with everything that's happening with the rangers it's about to get busy and it really always is with the rangers there's always something happening and i blame chris jury for that but hey maybe that's not a bad thing but i'm also giving away a jersey here on the channel so make sure you are subscribed to the channel and the jersey giveaway will be at either 15,000 subscribers or the rangers make the playoffs and oh boy uh it's gonna get interesting to see if the rangers make the playoffs now the rangers have made multiple moves here uh spencer martin has been recalled to the new york rangers he's been called up he is cleared to play uh the expectation is that spencer martin will be recalled and uh he has been he will be the backup for tonight's game and the foreseeable future i do actually believe here that the rangers i think they want to see how it goes for a couple games because Jonas Korpisalo's out still they want to see and I want to talk about Dylan Grand a lot he has a great opportunity in front of him he's going to back up Dylan Grand tonight i think they want to see how this goes for a couple games before they pull the trigger on a trade but I do ultimately think they're going to make a trade and I think the goaltending tandem will be guy traded for and Jonas Korpisalo and that is going to make me sick so let me know how you feel about that in the comments the other move that they made is they placed Igor Shesterkin on LTIR now you must be thinking to yourself Darius of course they did that's the most obvious move right he's on LTIR one thing that they didn't do is place him on season ending ltir now we heard that his season's done so this opens the door to him returning because he's not on season ending ltir now the other interesting thing and the implication this has on the cap is because he's on regular ltir because of the new ltir say that 10 times fast the new ltir or season ending ltir rules uh basically have it so you only save his entire cap hit if he's officially done for the entire season so they're only saving almost four million dollars with this now if they were to put him on season ending ltir then they would save his full cap but he's not there yet they only place them on ltir a lot of people are talking about it this morning so that'll be interesting to see what that looks like moving forward so let me know how you feel about that in the comments below i'm sure it'll be a matter of time until we find out hey he's actually on the season ending one but this is the Rangers lineup heading into tonight you might notice Cole Bald on fourth line yes he has been called up as well we'll get to that in a little bit as well uh but he has also been uh recalled and there's actually a really funny story uh that goes with his um reassignment to the Rangers now another thing i want to get to is Dylan Guran gets his starting opportunity this is a huge huge opportunity for Dylan Guran and everyone is really talking about it so um and this is something that you know i've had time to process Igor getting hurt yesterday's video was like igor's hurt what the hell is going to happen we got to move past it now because it's just the fact of the matter and Dylan Guran said i'm excited for the opportunity going to put my heart and soul on the line for these guys in this city i would watch out for a guy who at the end of last season said i never want to play in the AHL ever again i would watch out for a guy who's put in the work and you can see has put in the work i would watch out for a guy that clearly has a chip in his shoulder because he said i never want to play in the AHL again came into this season they said bye bye we traded for a goalie that everyone knows stinks and is worse than you and we're going to send you back to the AHL i would watch out for a guy who has a chip in his shoulder like this to make a statement and a guy who's only let in one goal this season and had a .950 save percentage last season i would watch out for this guy i think this guy has a great opportunity that has been placed in his lap it's a scary one but it's a great one and it's one that i think this guy with his mindset will run with there's something there's something special here still there's something special here and Mike Sullivan spoke out over the last 24 hours about how our season's not done we're first we've played really well to this point so far this season our season's not done we're going to continue to come together Igor is a great goalie but we're not done and i think that attitude is infectious and it could be infectious to the rest of the fan base as well and let me tell you as a guy who's been a Dylan Grant truther the entire time on this channel and has gotten blackboard in the comments this kid has a great opportunity and i think he's going to run with it and i don't know if he can play 50 games or 55 games like Igor can most people can't most goalies in the NHL can't right but i what i will tell you is this kid's gonna lay it on the line every single time he's in net and he's going to make you fall in love with him just like me right and if you haven't yet which is shocking he will he will and i'm very excited to see what he does and he has a 971 so far this season in two appearances one of them is a loss because Tobal who may be making his way back into the lineup tonight threw a pizza up the middle of the ice but um anyway that's uh all well and good they lost that game back on track tonight against the Vancouver Canucks we hope so Dylan Grand with a huge opportunity Mike Sullivan talked about he said he knows that we believe in him he's a good solid goalie so he's going to give him the opportunity to be the starting goaltender of course he's going to be over Spencer Martin there's no way that he's not going to be uh you could see in the game that he did play the full game against Detroit he got a shutout right so far this season so he's playing with some confidence as well uh we're gonna need him to play with some confidence and uh here's a quote from Dylan Grand about tonight he is very ready like he's well spoken he also doesn't speak that much and and then he drops nuggets like this like hey you ready yeah i'm very ready i'm i'm ready to go i'm up for the challenge what do you guys got for me i'm ready for it and so far he's proven that he like you if you look at the numbers he is he is so let's let's get going he's got a great opportunity in front of him now one thing that i think is crazy is the timeline at the end of last season like Igor was hurt last year too we got a taste of Dylan Girard in the NHL his numbers suggested good goalie maybe he can do this i throughout the summer said he should be able to do this he'll be the backup he can be the backup but i think Chris Drury is going to do something really stupid because that's what Chris Drury does right then Chris Drury goes out and does something really stupid he gets Jonas Korpisalo Jonas Korpisalo gets hurt i spend all offseason talking about how i hate the move and it's stupid then we get to the preseason again Jonas Korpisalo gets hurt heading into this season but we didn't know that at the time and or it's not that we didn't know that he had not gotten hurt yet and they're making all these roster moves they end up sending Dylan Grant down to hartford now he's recalled because Jonas Korpisalo is hurt he comes in gets a shutout in his first game as the backup goalie Igor's hurt now he's a starting goaltender what a story can you imagine if they lost them on waivers can you imagine if they had lost this kid on waivers i'd be losing my mind right now because your goalies would be Spencer Martin and Calum Tong that would be horrible so mike sullivan also uh backs Dylan Grant and he said that he's just gonna give him every opportunity to uh to shine here so and he said he's given our team a chance to win each and every time he's been in the net which is true he's done that he's done that dating back to last season as well uh and he's got to be ready to go tonight against the Vancouver Canucks this is a must win for the Rangers to get back in the uh the win column and uh Igor has done man quality quality starts from Igor so far uh this season then unfortunately the season comes to an end Dylan Grant is uh gonna so he started one game came in one game in relief and this is going to be his second technically start of the season captain JT Miller's talking about how hey we got to step up as a team and step up uh they really do need to because if you look at the rest of the schedule the rest of the way yes you play the Canucks who are not that great tonight but then you got a rematch with the Lightning again the Devils are coming up which you should be able to beat the Devils as well Blue Jackets are a hungry team Ducks are a pretty good team the Maple Leafs look really good right now the Senators look really good right now and you got the Kings like it doesn't get any easier this month so you really have to continue to play our game and uh keep going with that so it'll be interesting and again Mike Sullivan just has a lot of really good things to say about Dylan Grant so great opportunity for Dylan Grant and uh last couple things here on some of the roster changes and some of the stuff from this morning so no um you know actual morning skate this morning it was just an optional morning skate you had Miller Sabana Jad Cole Dwyer has been called up by the way funny story Cole Dwyer sent down the other day mostly just roster and cap moves but there wasn't about the player specifically or his turnover and Mike Sullivan talked about that said it's fine he's a rookie things are gonna happen the game moves fast um sent down played a two second shift to start the game last night changed and sat on the bench for the rest of the game and has been recalled the reason for that is because when you're sent down you have to play at least one game so they dressed him last night to play two seconds sit on the bench and then come back up to play tonight's game that's crazy so that's that's how uh the last 24 to 48 hours have gone for Cole Dwyer um he also said you know he's excited to get going it was a mistake for him too right um and this was the original move uh yesterday from Molly Walker and they recalled you so Parsons but then Cole Dwyer gets called back up today uh and that was kind of a funny story going on and he is there at morning skate this morning so i thought that was uh pretty pretty funny so these were the guys at morning skate this morning guys let me know in the comments how you feel about everything that's happening with the rangers there's a lot there's a lot but a great opportunity for Cole Dwyer still a great opportunity for uh you know Dylan Girard i wish the lineup still looked like this with Igor but uh all in all they've been playing really well so far this season and uh it's still going to be your top guys now you rely upon on offense on defense to lead the way of course it's always Igor he's the backbone of this team but you need guys to uh to step up some younger guys to step up too but you need your top guys to continue to lead the way so uh and not only that like Dylan Grant to step into that role of course that's going to be a tall task but i think he can do it i think he can do it and it all starts tonight so let me know how you feel in the comments below i'll see you for another video
