He showed up and he seemed panicky.
He couldn't fly.
I thought, oh my God, this is wild.
There's a colorful, exotic parrot.
Where did that come from?
We both were just kind of looking there surprised.
Oh my God, I'm nervous.
We weren't sure how to handle a bird.
We fed him, we gave him water.
And then the next day we went to a local pet store
and we just grabbed a bunch of food
and little water dishes that made more sense for him.
And he just immediately, it was so weird.
It was like he immediately slotted into our lives.
he feels like this is his house this is my flock he
was on Zach's shoulder constantly he was sitting
on our chairs right away and he just seemed
so happy and and at home right away that we kind of
felt like wow we have this this instant bond
with him we kind of knew that eventually we're gonna
find his owners oh my gosh we talked about like wow it's gonna
be really sad when we find his
owners because we really have a deep bond with him immediately
and he seems very happy and we're
happy having him but then the owners did come
a couple days later they knocked on the door we had
been looking in the neighborhood
and spreading the word finally the owners came and knocked on
our door and said have you seen our parrot
and when they saw him huddled up with Zach on his
shoulder and they saw Pedro like cuddling into Zach's beard
and picking at his hair and playing
with his glasses and they saw how how happy he
was here they said you know do you just want to
keep him and so we said okay sure i guess
so we will for the 23 years of Pedro's life he was an
outdoor bird his original owners said that he had
been inside a couple times but he had immediately
tried chewing on the wood or the walls
and so they didn't let him in we have not had that problem
with him at all she said that he stayed outside he had a cage
but the door would be open and so
sometimes he would climb out and he must have climbed out
and in 23 years he never climbed
over the fence but that day he decided to try it out
and that was it he's he's never left he's
never leaving oh it's really coming down sideways
and it's so funny because now he actually hates
going outside must be nice to be an indoor pet now he he
is an indoor bird loves air conditioning
does not want to be outdoors at all we're ashley
and zach and this is pedro's story for GeoBeats
Thank
you.
