No One Should Have to Live in Fear of Polio Mike Bloomberg

When I was growing up, polio was one of the world's most feared diseases. The polio vaccine was one of the great advances of the 20th century, and now with the help of health care workers, governments, and the work my friend Bill Gates is doing through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we're on the verge of eradication. That would be one of the greatest public health achievements in human history, and I'm optimistic we can get there. Bloomberg Philanthropies has been glad to support this mission for more than a decade, and today we're pledging another $100 million in the fight to eradicate polio. Together, we can protect every child, everywhere, from this preventable disease. No one should have to live in fear of the disease ever again.
