NFL Legend REVEALS Florida's Plan to Target an ELITE Transfer QB
Oct 10, 2026
Oh, Isaiah's got me.
Yeah, I lost everybody.
Had a little bit of a glitch across the board.
All right, so I don't know if you guys saw this.
We talked about it last time on Gator Summit.
But Chris Carter mentioned on his podcast,
I'm going to play the clip so you can hear him say it,
and then we can discuss it,
about Florida going after a top quarterback portal next year.
Lots to unpack here.
Let's play the clip,
and then we'll definitely discuss it some more here.
Take a listen.
Summer, that's who they are at Florida.
and next year from I got friends in this business Florida
is going to go out and do what Miami's
done the last two years Miami spent 11 million dollars
the last two years on the quarterback
so whoever is the top ranked quarterback
in the portal Florida is going after him for next year
Florida's for real Florida Florida's back Florida
is the version of Indiana okay all right because
we always look at okay
who's going to come out from out of the Power Four and become a real
player in the top 20 like Indiana is Florida people won't say
because they got national
championships and everything
but man Florida football sucked no doubt like they were not
this football team so that's why it's a version of tomorrow that's
who so lots to unpack there
um we talked I talked with Dave
and Allie about this last night Dave actually had an interesting
point he he was not calling Chris Carter
a liar saying what he's saying what he's hearing is not
true he just doesn't believe that the coaching staff
is gonna is gonna be kind of moving that
way this that quickly right
which is which is a good point like we're six weeks into the season
why are you giggling Cody Camario Taylor's gonna look so good in orange
they don't run the wide choice they
don't run the wide choice that's okay
he's gonna be so good dude i i
cannot wait i mean i am juiced up for this i'm gonna have
a veteran offensive line one more
year under Troutline we're gonna be built
and ready to go they're gonna sure up the db room
They're going to sign one more year, one more back with the band
after we eventually lose in the playoffs, either first or second round.
Just come on down, Camario.
The water's fine.
Is that what that K is for, the Camario?
That's not KTP.
It is.
That's for Camario.
Camario Taylor.
That's the Camario Taylor pass, what the KTP stands for.
It's interesting to think about.
Let's play the game.
Let's play the, if this is true.
I mean, because it's, you know, we don't know.
I mean, I'm not saying, like, why would Chris make it up?
Clearly, he heard something, right?
And so, let's play that.
Let's go down that rabbit hole for a minute.
Clearly, I don't think somebody just woke up and said it.
And I think that's where, if there's smoke, there's usually fire.
And so, somebody had to feel or hear something.
And I wonder if it goes back to,
we could connect this to Easton Royal a little bit.
Because people are going, why is,
what is Easton Royal seeing in this offense?
And we talked about what showed to be explosive.
I think Summerall and Buster show
that they want this offense to be explosive,
whether that hasn't looked fully the way they would like it to look
and be this five wide flying high like Cody would like it to be.
And so if you're able to show proof of concept with said quarterback
and Aaron Philo, who can manage it but not give you all the attributes
that you need, well, now you've got ammo.
And we were in this portal last year without any proof of concept.
So Summerall and the boys were having to kind of make way
with probably very little support from a financial standpoint.
And I think showed a lot already in just a short amount of time
to show what they can do with talent.
And my theory of them hearing
this and how we're seeing a lot of quarterbacks,
Bryson Wright being one, and we've talked about blueprints a lot
of how do you attack the portal?
What is the way to go about this?
And we saw a little bit of the blueprint changing last year
with how we went in the recruiting cycle for 2027
with going after big-time trenches guys.
That's where we were spending money.
When prior years, we got wide receivers, cornerbacks,
kind of your playmakers, which were helping the class look good,
but it's not the same as getting top-tier interior defensive linemen
and offensive linemen.
Now, we went more offensive heavy this particular cycle,
but that blueprint follows what Miami's been able to do.
You recruit the trenches, you develop them,
and you pluck cornerbacks and quarterbacks
in the portal and other places if you needed to, right?
And we've heard, we've already kind of been yelling for cornerbacks.
So how is it crazy that it could
be a quarterback that you're going to be,
you know, poaching after the fact?
I think if you look around the league,
Austin Simmons was a top quarterback coming out of the portal.
Josh Hoover, Sam Leavitt, Trinidad did not go into the portal,
but obviously would have been a top quarterback in the portal.
Obviously, that is where, you know, the key is to be successful.
Getting an older quarterback that has shown their way to do things.
Again, it does seem a bit soon,
and I think that Dave was right on this,
of like, it seems a bit crazy to already have that theory
when you have a quarterback room
with Trammell Jones, who we are high on.
Will Griffin, in my opinion, would still
be very young to take the reins next year,
so that doesn't seem crazy to me.
Here's the thing.
If you're either, because you're not going
to be able to keep Philo or Trammell.
We've always said that.
One of them would be leaving if one didn't play.
so next year you're going into it with either Trammell
or just Philo more than likely and now
Will Griffin so you were probably going to have
to go into the portal anyways so then if you go
from that angle it's okay well you're going into the portal anyways
and if you have Philo that
stays or Trammell let's just pick either one you would
be an idiot to not go try and go get a
better guy and then create a competition
and if that quarterback that's there currently feels
that hey i can't beat it well
then you're not where we need to be so yeah it it doesn't seem
crazy because of how
this quarterback room is. It's still very
young. We've talked about it being
young. Philo, I think, is old and
should be kind of taking that turn, and that's
why it's like, if he's not taking it
by the end of the year, then yeah, you
go get a guy.
When you look at this
Florida team, they are literally
possibly a
couple positions away of being a national
championship contender.
Rolling, feeling pretty good.
But our guy Micah Alejandro
from Hawaii. Then we've got, of course,
King Miller with USC getting some rush
touchdowns. I know we don't like FSU around these
parks, but I think Ashton Daniels is going to use a little
legs in this upcoming week for
some nice football to get him more in
his rushing yard. You can now get
in on the action with PrizePicks for the rushing
season and individual
games. And on the app, you can pick
your team to just win the game outright
when you use that code HMA.
Download the app today using
the link in the description. You place $5,
you get $150 if you win that lineup for brand new users
and take advantage ride with the crowd
okay use the great features that PrizePick has
to offer PrizePicks it is good to be right you
obviously somebody needs to to the offensive line needs another year
of work and or we need a piece
here or there but it's pretty close um i think
that the the linebacker room uh you'll probably
get a one or two veteran guys in there it
and then i think that the db room you're gonna have
to do a little bit of work in there i
also wouldn't i mean it depends uh if we even have
brad white because i listen you can't be 128th
and and and defense at the University of Florida
i don't i don't i don't care
who you are i don't that's unacceptable any year so you know you go
pick up a guy like jim leonard he flips that defense around
and you go get some pieces in
the portal dude you're pretty close
because if you can get let's just hypothetically say
jayden ball comes back one more year because
because we make the playoffs he wants to win
an addy um you get jayden ball to come back you got duke clark
that's coming back you'll have to
you'll you'll have to fill
in for for uh whole whole line probably like maybe a tackle or
something oh yeah you'll probably have to go get one tackle
but you're pretty much set, Fletcher
Westfall sitting there uh very nice, being being groomed ready
to dice up, you know, you're probably
only one one away offensively you have
the wide receivers Dolly Wally VB3 you probably go and
pluck one other guy to replace Singleton, a guy like him, a speedster
which we got, you got some
young guys coming up too and Justin Williams
and Gross say that you've you've invested in as well
so yep you are you are literally a couple pieces away
and i think that the University of Florida
boosters if i'm them and this season continues to go
on the right path i think you look back and say
okay he did this with uh 128th ranked defense
so like let's juice up the defense a little bit
let's get them at least top 50 yeah right let's
spend some money let's get let's hey that interior
nose position we need to refill that because we we haven't done
a very good job retaining players
there you're gonna have Woods you're gonna have KJ Ford uh coming
into his sophomore year you're
gonna have some players on the edge it's really set up
that if you want to go for a national
championship run it could be in the next year
or two yeah before you hand the keys over to Will
Griffin it's there yeah i i agree
and i want to kind of make this clear because i know how some
of this could look of like oh they're already signing off
on philo they're already you know
counting it out it's only five weeks in like give
the kid time i don't that isn't my theory at all
like this isn't us creating this this is what we've heard
and i look i think that there is a
part of the business and we've heard them talk about
this before where you've always got to be
looking five months to a year out like you have
to be and there's a whole probably staff gm wise
that are looking at possible outcomes of hey like
these three guys could really make this thing tick
if Philo doesn't continue to progress
or if Trammell doesn't progress like we would like them to.
We can't waste this talent that we have
in Dallas Wilson, in Aaron Philo, in Jaden Woods.
These are all guys that will be back 100%,
unless they leave the portal,
but they have the opportunity.
We don't have to worry about the NFL plucking them, right?
And Ryan says, well, you also have to consider Buster leaves.
That was my point.
You always have to consider something happening.
And if there is noise of us being willing
to attack the quarterback portal,
that does excite me that again you're kind
of saying that we see what we have we know where
we're light at and if this doesn't go the way we need it to go
then this is where we're going to
have to get up after that's that's that's the thing yeah it's adapt
or die and look i think
some gator fans maybe kind of that have watched
this sport it may sound like oh we're trying to
sign off on guys that are playing currently
and it isn't that at all it's just we're i mean you
hear this rumor so you're talking about it
but you got it you gotta be always thinking you gotta
put our gm hat on too i mean that's
that's don't let me get the chart out yeah well here's the
thing i and this this might be a wild take there
are guys this week that signed their walking
papers and they don't even know it
by the attitude they brought into practice and what they what
yeah they're just going through the motions
for the next six weeks yeah now i don't i i have no
information on who that is and i think there's
probably only two people that know and that's
John Summerall and the GM,
and they're saying, look, it was already bad.
Now he's going to have attitude or, you know, come in after a bad loss
and not buy in.
Walking papers are there.
I guarantee it.
They'll let them go through the motion and, you know,
probably you'll see guys go to third string
and work some practice squad
and stuff, but there will be kids that are,
if there was a way to cut them,
they would have been cut this week.
I guarantee you.
So, yeah, and it's the name of the game.
And I would get mad if they didn't because, listen,
I'm spending my hard-earned money every single month
to support Florida victorious,
and so is a lot of people in this chat.
And, listen, I got the federal government not spending my money right.
I don't need my Florida Gators not spending my money right, okay?
Vikings aren't either.
Listen, I don't pay them.
Okay.
Smart guy.
Eric Ellington could come back he has if he has the five
or five i i believe he could still come
back so go ahead no i'm just wondering why we're acting like
this team doesn't average about 45
points a game you're like the worst in the chat did you
not just hear what i said this isn't me
like panicking or burning it down it was just it
was interesting he said this last week he said
this before the Mizzou game i believe yeah
so i i think that it's just interesting to hear how this
team is approaching stuff i know it's gonna people
are like oh why are we while we're freaking
out it's not i i think that it is just almost refreshing
to hear that they're willing to be
aggressive like maybe they don't
but the fact that it's being out there i think it's good for
publicity i think it's good for like if it
is talked about they're like reaching out to john
like hey like my quarterback's looking to leave he's he's
a stud like is this for real like what's
up like it doesn't hurt to be in the conversation
if your quarterback currently is going to get his
feelings heard about it he was never going
to make it in the first place so we're not in the
business to protect the guys
from hearing it like it's yeah it's already out there well as a
quarterback i like it you want i want if i'm
a quarterback like i want people to have competition
i need that competition yeah i don't feel like it's
my job like i gotta earn my job that is my
job it is mine he has to take it from me
so i i do understand what you're saying i would just kind
to give you a little smoke
but what i'm saying is is like this you know you always have to be
ready in the portal no matter what team you are anymore
because if you're not you're going to get
run over and miami has done it over
the last couple years with the mensa and the becks and
you know they have put the people in the right place
and it's always been the quarterback position
because they always have the talent
so you know we haven't seen Miami, when is who doesn't Miami even
recruit quarterbacks i don't even know
who their quarterbacks are they always just get the
They got the best quarterback in the portal.
They have a good one from, I think, Mandarin right now
that's committed to them that throws to Bryson Wright.
He's kind of a stud.
He's a lower end, but it's kind of like
the theory that I've been saying.
You go get kind of a three, low four-star
and develop in why you're still plucking guys.
And if it doesn't work out, your blueprint still works.
No, it's like in the NFL when you go and you get a veteran quarterback
on a team, a good team.
Now you're just getting a veteran quarterback in college
and you're putting him on a good team.
What'd you call him?
That's veteran.
yeah not everybody can be the packers
and draft you know look kirk i mean the writers they're
doing it that's right the veteran quarterback
baby he's out there slinging it okay vet veteran
you're like it's veteran right veteran
veteran veteran vet i'll go with that
bro you're like i'm like is he glitching
I have a glitch in my voice yeah I love it I love it I I did I said I
was at Chili's and I said
triple dip or the other I said triple dip the other day
in front of the boys I got absolutely throttled
for it was one of those things where you had
to just you just put the head down you know what I
mean like it was it came out so sloppy it's just wet
and like thick I guess and it wasn't even that
make it it was that bad it was like it'd be funny
but like it was like me trying to say it as good
as possible and it just like I got thumped like I I literally had
a seizure when it happened um
you can't defend it no you just you got
to just take it well you went you doubled down you said
veteran like four times that's what I
was like veteran veteran maybe it's like Cody's saying roof
What do you say?
Ruff.
Ruff.
Ruff.
Ruff.
Veterinarian QB.
Veterinarian quarterback.
I love it.
I love it.
Now I'm gonna get yelled at for making fun
of Tyler's speech impediment.
Hey, shout out to CeCe for giving us some steam.
This is something that Florida hasn't had in the last couple years too
is some positive publicity that we're going to spend.
