Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe are actually related per a new study by MyHeritage.
The two Hollywood stars are ninth cousins once removed. Their family trees connect through
Sydney's father, Stephen Sweeney, and Marilyn's biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford.
They share an ancestor, Ezra Perry, who lived in Sandwich, Massachusetts in the 1600s.
This discovery follows years of comparisons between Sydney and Marilyn.
From their blonde hair to their old Hollywood-inspired fashion,
the similarities caught attention.
MyHeritage Director of Research Roy Mandel noted,
People have always drawn parallels between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe.
He added,
Seeing their paths align on a deeper level inspired us to look for a real
bond in the MyHeritage archives. Uncovering their shared branch was incredible.
It's a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree.
Sydney has leaned into these comparisons with her red carpet looks.
At the Santa Barbara Film Festival, she channeled Marilyn in an ivory seal Chapman gown.
Again, at the Housemaid premiere, she wore a striking white Galia Lahav gown.
She evokes Marilyn's iconic dress from The Seven-Year Itch with a plunging neckline and full
skirt. While their journeys to Hollywood differ, Sydney's parents supported her dreams.
I had no connections. I did not come from money, she shared in a 2022 interview.
But I had parents who, no matter what, believed in me.
