I am up. This is me, up. Thank you, Lord, for another day. Let's do this. Okay, it's me, Julissa.
I'm gonna do my makeup today. Whenever I get ready to do my makeup, especially when it's for a TV,
sorry, it's early, but I always kind of do the same kind of base and everything and then build
from there. But what I want to show you is how I do my base, how I get to then the building stage
of deciding, okay, do I go with a bright lip? Do I do a neutral lip? Do I go with a metallic lid?
Or do I do a more graphic liner? Things like that. So this is my go-to get-me-out-the-door
glam. It always varies, but basically the canvas and what I build on is pretty much
always the same. First things first, whenever it's this early, we need some cold water to just
wake up. I read an article where Daisy Fuentes, who was the first Latina to ever host a show on MTV,
she used to do a bowl of ice with water on her face to wake herself up and snatch her face.
You want to wake up in the morning, take some ice, literally ice, on your face and just,
it'll snatch in your pores, get them nice and tight. And I like to do this because sometimes
I get distracted when I'm getting ready to start my makeup, especially when I do it in front of a
ring light or bright light. I want to start picking my face and that's not what you want to do before
your makeup. Oh, that's cold. I feel pretty awake right now. Sometimes I'll even do these eye patches.
Them 6 a.m. call times just, what's going on? I heard in Europe they never have call times that
early because in the morning you're kind of bloated. You're literally just waking up.
So they let models go in pretty late in the day. By then their face is kind of molded into what I
guess it's going to look like. Maybe I need to go to Europe and do some more work out there.
Get my sleep on. I know there's a lot of morning routines out there, but take it from me. When you
got to get up and act like you've been up, this is what you want to do. So now I just take a block
of ice after I wash my face. Oh, and then right here where the eyes are. This right here.
Get your eyes nice and de-puffed. Good morning. After you've iced your face, one thing you're
going to notice that I'm obsessed with, I constantly have to brush my eyebrows. I don't know
what that's about, but I just need them to be up. This is an edge control brush
and I love to use it for my brows because I actually use edge control on my brows.
See how that ice just circulates your face? Blood flow. I would want to get microblading on my
brows just a little bit, but I don't know because I feel like when you go to get one little thing,
you have to go to the right person because you know when you go to get something, they'll be
like, you could use a little here and a little there, and then next thing you know you got
sharpie eyebrows. What I usually do is I just let them rock out until they get Frida Kahlo
art. Kahlo style. Kahlo. That woman. That awesome, iconic Latina. Frida Kahlo. It's early.
Give me a break. You know they're going to come for me in the back. How are you a Latina and you
don't know Frida Kahlo? I do. I do. It's early. We're going to prime the face. I use two primers.
If I'm going to do every day, leave out the house primer, I'll do a moisturizer that has SPF
with a nice glow. But today, because I'm going to do my makeup for on camera, I get a nice primer.
This one has a really beautiful texture. It literally has the word grip in the name. That
just makes your face feel snatched. The goal is to just get the face and the pores as minimized
as possible. And you notice, I kind of give myself a little face massage too.
Just bringing everything up. Literally everything up. And then the other primer that I use,
this one is new that I've been using. It has charcoal in it. Porefecting White Charcoal
Mattifying Treatment Primer. Because on camera makeup, you want to have a glow,
but the glow can turn into straight up greasy face really quickly. So that's why I like to
use two primers. This one's mattifying and I'll put it in my T-zone because I tend to have
combinations. I don't even know what my skin type is anymore. I use so many products.
It used to be dry, then it was oily, then it was combination. Now I'm back to I don't know.
Being that it's I don't know, I like to keep the T-zone as matte as I can. Just the T-zone.
So the areas that get really oily quickly under bright lights, that's the area that I like to
mattify. Okay, now I'm ready for some maquillaje. This is another technique that I've been doing
lately. So it just kind of goes how I feel. Sometimes when I'm in a rush, I'll already just
and I promise you it still works out. I actually did this on my Instagram and people wanted to
see kind of the full version. So I guess we can get into that. What I'm doing is just using a
bunch of contour sticks and hitting the areas that I want to contour. In between, boom, boom.
I've gone through all kinds of ways to do my makeup, but this one lately, I like it a lot
because although it looks a little crazy, like I'm ready to join some tribe, trust me,
it blends nicely. It's just a combination of some contour sticks. Where's my brush?
Where's my brush? Also me. And I need to wash them. During quarantine, I did a whole thing on
my stories on Instagram of washing my brushes and then I had my followers guess how many brushes I
had. Whoever guessed correctly, I sent them a brand new set of brushes. All right, fine,
I'm just use a blender. So I'm just going to use a sponge. You want to blend the bottom out
so that way you are defining your jawline. See that? Little definition there. I kind of just
built from there. Going around and blending in the contoured areas. That's your arm,
tired though. So this is a good way to work out too. Bring it down because you always want your
neck to match. Blend. The other side. I'm going to just blend. It does something seamless. Are you
picking up on that? Do you see that a little? I like the look of this. I got to figure out what
the name of this is. Is it just like blending, contour blend? I don't know, but I saw it was
trending on TikTok too. I saw this one girl, she did it in her car, which I was like, okay girl,
don't blend and dry. Kind of seamless, right? You can use your finger too. Look at that hairline.
It ends up just being like a really nice, subtle blend, but not so foundationy. I don't know if
that's a word. Like it doesn't look so cakey. It kind of goes more seamless. And I'm going to build
on top of this. And then with concealer, you'll see how I brighten up. How's that looking? So now
I'm going to do concealer. I have this thing where I feel like I'll get it right. And then the minute
I add powder, is it gray? The reason why I use multiple concealers sometimes is because I have a
little bit of grayness under my eyes. This first concealer that I use has a little bit of peach.
So the peach cancels out the gray. For on camera, I always like my eyes to look a lot brighter and
really look awake. This one has a peachy undertone, which is good to cancel out the gray. It's
essentially called color correcting. Green cancels out red. So if you have a lot of redness on your
face, you would use green. If you have dullness, you would use purple. See how that peach kind of
softened it up? I'm going to build on this. The next one is going to be more of a yellow tone.
And I like to smile when I do it because I like to kind of get this whole area bright. When you
see me contour, I'm going to kind of contour up and around and then keep this area nice and bright,
building little by little. Let me just scrape up what I have left of this. I can be so cheap
sometimes. I'm going to do a little bit on this side. Remember, this is on camera. This is blend
and bright. This is blend and bright. And the third one is really bright. This one can be almost
scary. Ah! This one probably has no business even touching my face, but I do it anyway because
tell me I don't look alive. I look alive. And I'll even hit my nose a little bit.
This one's pretty thick. The reason why I like to layer is because you'll see at the end that I'll
look like I didn't do a million steps. And that's the goal. Back to my blender. Blend that in.
Go back with my finger. The goal is to get that brightness. Ding! Did someone say they need a host?
Even if you're not going to be on camera, I still believe in making the makeup look as seamless as
you can because you want that effect. Sometimes you just can't achieve it with one concealer or
one product. Once you get to blending, it kind of calms down a bit, right? I've literally brightened
up the areas that I want to pop. The next thing I'm going to do, set. I'm going to take a pressed
powder. A lot of people like to bake, but lately I've noticed that a pressed powder seems to work
for me. Not as cakey because then it starts looking real dry. And it's a lot of creamy
makeup on my face, so I don't want to just hit it with a puff. Get your hand so that it's not so
excess. See how that calmed everything down? Don't get too nervous. It's okay. It's gonna be all right.
The thing, again, with on-camera makeup, or even if you like that matte look,
you still want to have a glow to your face. You don't want to look like you're casket ready.
It's not too cakey or all settling in your lines. That's kind of why I use the puff with the
pressed powder. Hit it like that. You can continue to build. So this is a matte bronzer, building up
the glow. This is the brush I was looking for. This is the one. It's a full coverage face brush,
so this one. What would have been the difference between this brush and the blender? I would have
just kind of buffed it in and down, but it's okay, as you can see. This brush, it's a Morphe R6,
and it kind of has that flat. I'm going to just kind of stamp the bronzer. Forehead and around
and down, all about the definition that you're building. Stamp on this side, right up. A little
rule of thumb is kind of matching the top of my ear where I'm stamping the bronzer, just so that
you can pull your face up. See how that instantly created the brightness here that I settled,
and then the stamping of the bronzer just instantly created cheekbones. It's all about
makeup. Makeup is an illusion. I go around, work the circumference of your face, if you will.
Sounds so technical. I need to do a video on how I remove all of this, because you guys are
probably thinking, like, dang, that's a lot of makeup. It is. Everyday makeup is not going to
pick up on camera. This is kind of the base. Now I can do whatever on my face. You see how I'm
basically just defining my face everywhere? You can even go in with the pressed powder
and define even more, just make it a little lighter here. What I'm going to do next really
quickly, I always got to get my brows going. Lately I've been doing my brows a little bit
more natural. This brow pencil is everything. Define them a little bit, kind of go in. If I
would ever microblade my brows, this is how I would want them to be microbladed. Just filling
in literally where I need it. Kind of light strokes. It's literally just to fill in. And
then I flip, and then I just comb everything, comb it in, comb it in, and I feel like the brows
still look natural. See the difference? Back in the day, I used to fill my brows, like, every little
section. Still build. I like to build as I go. What I'm going to do next is add the glow that I was
mentioning to you guys. Nice soft glow on my cheeks. I'm going to bring it up, blush. This is a
highlight. Well, it's considered a highlight. This is a highlight and sculpt. Really love this color.
I think it's so pretty. Can you see that on camera? Is it picking up nicely? Then I'll do my eyes.
I've been obsessed with using liquid shadows. Look how nice this is. I'll use my finger. I'll use a
mix of my finger, my brush. I'll go back to this palette, and I'll kind of just blend it in. Voila.
Kind of define. A stick is even quicker if you want. You can just, boom. Next, I'm going to throw
on a lash, the strip lash that I'm going to put on. I don't want that to take off my lash extensions.
I'll just add glue on the lash line in dots. It's still going to stay on, but when I go to take it
off, it's not going to rip off my entire eye line. Blend it, and then get a squeeze. And I use a clear
glue, so it makes it even easier. Lash can do, hello. Eyeballs now. Now you can see them. All right, now
that I've done my top lashes, I always like to hit my lower lash line using a mascara with a curved
brush. This is one of my favorite mascaras. Follow your natural lashes. Tap, tap. And that way it doesn't get messy.
There's also mascaras specifically for your lower lash line nowadays. They're tiny, tiny little wands.
This side is a little different because I'm a righty, so. That's defining your, I guess your natural beauty, right?
I'm going to do some cheeks. On camera, I would usually do a matte blush because you see how I already added
that glow with the highlighter duo. Bring some pop of color and just do the blush more up. You can add the blush
right where the apples of your cheeks are, but you notice if you do it this way, it's kind of, again, making your
face look a little bit more snatched. I love blush, so I kind of add it everywhere. You can always take a big brush
and just diffuse everything. Lips. I usually like to take a makeup wipe because by now my lips are like, what's going on?
I need help. They're all dry. So, take a makeup wipe. I usually use some of the Bootleg on these lips to buff away
my lips. I'm going to go with a nude liner. I like to overline for just a little, nothing too crazy. Only because my lips
go straight. They don't really have that, is it a Cupid's bow? Yeah, I don't really have that. I kind of create a little bit of that
on the bottom. Then I like to bring in, again, kind of contour my lips, especially on the bottom. Kind of leave the middle
right there. One side is the lipstick, and then the other side is the matching gloss. Gloss it up. And then we're going to do a little bit
over on the gloss. I can literally continue to build on this. Take my highlight and just put a little bit on my nose.
This combination always makes my mom think that I got a nose job, and I'm like, ma, Julie!
Don't lie to me, Julie. What did you do to your face? It's called makeup. I'll hit there a little bit, here a little bit,
kind of there. Some edge control. I tame my brows, finally. And it kind of gives that laminated look. Brush it up.
You're going to set all of this. This is where you take a bath. Voila! And you glow on with your day.
So this is it. Don't forget to subscribe. I hope you guys loved it,
and I hope you learned some tips along the way, too. Now go get camera ready.
