I'm ready for some rosé.
Yes, I got you.
I'm just going to keep drinking.
I'm too tall, huh?
No, you're good.
I feel like when I sit up, I'm like out of it.
Oh, he's adjusting.
It's me, Julissa.
Welcome back.
I am still hanging out in Atlanta, Georgia, and today our episode is extra special.
You guys already see who I'm sitting next to.
She's a two-time Grammy-nominated artist.
She's a Grammy Award-winning songwriter.
We listen to her songs all the time.
We TikTok to them.
We do all the things to them.
But she's also an actress, philanthropist, and a native from Georgia.
Decatur, where it's greater, to be exact.
Correct.
So, Keri Ilson is in the building, and we are feeling real ladies' night in, and we're
going to have a lot of fun.
Should I tell everybody how we actually met?
Yeah.
So, I interviewed Keri while I was still hosting on BET, and she was so, so cool.
Later on that night, there was actually a BET party that was happening, and you invited
me because you were going, and I thought to myself, sure, because I would roll solo everywhere.
She really was by herself.
Yeah.
Do you want to go?
Are you coming?
Hop in.
Looking back, you were in your work environment, so it's not as if it was a social environment
for you.
Yeah, but I'm in my work environment now, and I still have Liz Maris!
And I still got Liz around.
You know, we've moved up a little bit since then, Keri.
I got assistants and things now.
You certainly have.
That was years ago, so...
Yeah, over a decade.
I think.
So, another reason why we are friends and we bond is because we love a good drink.
So, what better way to hang out while in ATL with Keri than to play one of my favorite
drinking games, Drink Up.
This game, you usually want to play with more people, so I'm going to do just one of the
cards out of the game, which is, ta-ta-ta-ta!
Truth or Drink.
Oh, gosh.
I was like, Drink or Truth.
Truth or Drink.
It's self-explanatory.
You either tell the truth or you take a drink.
I think we got plenty of rose, unless we just going to be drinking and not telling any truths
around here.
All right.
Drink Up is the game.
You got to pick it up, and we're going to go with Truth or Drink.
Let's do it.
Okay.
Oh, right?
And look each other in the eye.
Mm-hmm.
Seven years of bad sex, that's what we say.
We don't need that.
We won't.
All right.
Let's see.
Who is the shadiest celebrity you've ever met?
Oh, dang.
Oh, that's really hard.
Shady.
I might have to drink.
You might have to drink.
I might have to drink.
I'm not trying to end up on, you know, on the internet.
Shady could be fun.
Shady is not fun.
You hear this?
You guys hear this?
I'm like, Shady could be fun.
So we could end up on the shade room?
Yeah, that's exactly where you'll end up.
I'm going to drink to that one.
You know what, Shady?
Let me tell you what, Shady.
Oh, she's going.
You're going for it?
When I slide into my friends, quote-unquote friends, that always say hi to me, that are
celebrities, I'm like, Oh, I'm going to drink to that one.
And then when I slide in their DMs, when I'm trying to send them my product, and I either
send it to them and they never post, or they act like they never saw the DM.
That's Shady.
Oh, when you see the big red.
Or seen.
Seen.
Exactly.
And then they never.
And they don't even.
Not even a boomerang.
Not even a shout out.
Like, it's all good.
And it really takes 30 seconds.
That part.
Okay.
She drank anyway.
I drank anyway.
Let me look this way.
Oh.
That's a long one.
If you could enhance one of your senses twofold, which would you choose to enhance?
So if you could enhance one of your senses twofold.
For example.
For example, your hearing would be twice as good as it is now.
Which would you enhance?
I would think your hearing, because you're a singer.
I think it'd be, I probably could use that the most, because I'm a singer, I've lost
most of my hearing.
Yeah.
Right?
Can I say the sixth sense?
Sure.
Which would be intuition.
Oh.
That's a good one.
I think I would double that.
These days, having discernment and having some sort of internal compass, that type of
wherewithal, I think is like the most useful thing ever.
I think having that, like, laser focused, double the intuition, my third eye.
I would just.
Ooh.
That's a good one.
I would just widen that.
Yeah.
All right.
I'm gonna go.
Okay.
Go.
This is fun.
All right.
What is something you're inherently bad at, no matter how hard you try to improve?
Dang.
Liz has an answer for you.
Oh, man.
What is it?
I was gonna say.
Come on.
You go first.
Oh, measurements?
Measuring?
Measurements.
Saying no.
Oh.
Saying no.
Oh.
I am really bad at saying no.
But then I'm also, quote unquote, mean at the same time.
There's this rumor going around.
That you're mean?
That I'm mean.
I feel like if you had a sister, though, you would be so much more formal.
You'd be nicer.
I know when I drink, I'm not the nicest.
No, definitely not.
But you're the furthest from mean.
Thank you.
Who started that?
Thank you, my shady friends.
You do have a mean streak when you're at a certain level of tipsy, though.
Actually, no.
When tipsy goes to drunk, you might be a little.
Just because you're no nonsense at that point.
You're like, this is what I need to happen.
We are going to have a good time.
More shots.
It's like, you know what I mean?
If you deny her more shots, she might be a little mean.
A little.
I will definitely confess to that.
Back to the original question.
Okay, okay, okay.
Saying no.
Apparently.
Yeah, I have a hard time with saying no.
Anyway.
Okay.
That's a good one.
Good call.
This is funny.
Oh, gosh.
Sounds like a drink.
Oh, man.
Get my drink ready.
What small thing annoys you to an irrational degree?
I don't think any of us like small things.
I'm going to drink to that.
I'll drink to that.
Is it getting cut off in traffic?
Is it...
What really grinds my gear?
This is a weird...
It's a carryism.
I don't like dirty floors.
I have stepped on two needles, a pile of glass...
Oh, gosh.
...in my life.
Actually, there's a needle still in my foot.
Like, if you x-rayed, it got broken off, so my dad got part of it.
But there's probably, like, a half an inch still in there.
You know how your mom keeps the sewing kit in one thing?
Yes.
Someone had dropped it.
In the blue box, that cookie.
Exactly!
Yes!
That was our sewing, okay?
So if you were missing a button or needed something, whatever,
so someone had dropped that.
We had carpet, so they didn't clean it all up.
There's probably one of them super thin, long ones, too.
It wasn't super long.
It was maybe an inch or two.
To this day, when I go see my doctor,
who kind of aligns my body or whatever,
he's like, you still stand on the outside of your heel.
Wow, from the trauma.
This is all from the trauma.
In perpetuity, I walk on the outside of my foot,
because the needle, I hit it, like, right there.
I am always scouring.
Let me check the bottom of my feet.
Oh!
Oh, girl!
Whoa!
Trust me, you do not want to live with this.
Because I don't live with my feet anymore!
What in the Flintstones is happening over here?
Oh my God!
I don't think anyone would know that about Keri.
Okay, I already know what this answer's gonna be.
Is there anything you hide when house cleaners come?
If so, what?
Oh!
Can I just say I'm really late to the game with this?
What?
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Yeah, I know, I already know,
because it's what every woman has to hide
when cleaners are coming.
Yeah.
Liz talking about, I'm off.
She's like, I'm off.
I don't get it.
She just leaves it out on the charger.
Right.
There you go.
So yeah, just clean around it.
Mind you, when it's ready, it's like...
Yeah, I do that.
I hide that.
Okay.
But I'm new to having to remember that
because I'm actually so late to the game with that.
It's really weird.
I never thought I needed it.
Until you do.
You never think you need it.
It keeps you out of trouble.
Doesn't it, Jess?
It does!
I think it's what men have to do
before they are in trouble themselves.
I think it works the same way, I guess.
I don't know.
If there are any guys watching,
maybe you can don't DM us this.
You can say it very...
You don't want to have to tap on those blurry pics.
Thanks.
Oh my God, you get them too?
Yeah, girl.
It's so disrespectful.
It's bad.
Oh gosh.
It's terrible.
I want some more ice.
Yeah.
I have a feeling there's some better,
deeper questions in there.
I'm probably going to be drinking through them.
Well, clearly I don't fully understand
the rules of the game.
What's wrong with me?
It's on that dirty floor.
I know you don't want it.
I don't want it.
Okay.
Who is the person that you've kissed on screen
that you would consider the best kisser?
I'm going to drink.
I think they're all taken, engaged, married.
You know what I mean?
So whoever I would say,
it would cause disruption and friction.
Yeah.
Outside of work.
Maybe go watch all my kissing scenes
and you just tell me.
How about that?
Because I ain't about to get in trouble.
Right.
Good call.
Do you have a love-hate relationship with acting
because it's a whole other beast?
It's a craft that takes...
It's deep.
Yeah.
It's a winding road,
like a very faceted craft.
There is no mastering it, I feel like.
Even the greats probably have things
that they'd like to improve upon.
Right.
It feels like a never-ending...
And then nowadays...
But that's why.
I like it.
There's cameras that are...
You know this.
The camera never lies
at the end of the day.
It does lie though
because it makes me bigger than I am.
It does lie.
Yeah, physically.
Do either of you have a dream role
that you would love?
Ooh, a dream role.
You do?
I do, yeah.
I want a period piece.
There are lots of periods
throughout history.
Like ancient Egypt or...
Even if it's science fiction
but it's like
in a totally different space and time.
Would you do something like Bridgerton?
I think I would, yeah.
I probably would.
And they got people of color.
They do.
I mean...
They sure do.
I don't think I've seen a Latina on there yet but...
Plug!
The accent may not really work
back then.
It's not as heavy
as it used to be.
I've been working on it.
Yeah.
So what is yours?
What's your dream role?
My dream role?
Shoot.
To play a singer.
I would love to play
a superstar singer.
You could totally do that.
I don't know.
If I could actually sing too
that would be great.
Like if it came with the voice
that would be awesome.
Alright.
So dear casting director...
She can't sing.
Okay?
But she's got the look.
She's got the energy.
She's got the essence down.
And that's why it's acting.
Okay?
That's why it's acting.
I've heard her sing.
You're definitely gonna want
to get someone to do the videos.
Definitely not gonna sing now.
I'm just kidding.
One thing about...
I'm just kidding.
You can hold a note.
The...
When you're...
When you're gonna make excuses?
When she's singing...
No.
But when she's singing softly
she can...
When do I do anything softly?
She can manage.
Let's be honest here.
It's rare.
She could probably...
I haven't heard her rap actually.
Oh, she's so good.
Oh, we need a beat.
The lines.
We need a beat.
Don't make me rap into this vibrator, please.
My turn to ask...
Oh, oh.
What is your worst vice?
I think my worst vice is giving...
Giving in to a guy
more than what they deserve.
Like, I know you're not good for me.
Okay.
But out of loneliness
or out of...
Hope.
Out of that hero syndrome.
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
That's a very honest answer.
That's my worst vice.
I think that's very relatable, too.
I know I have no business being...
Like, I know I have no business...
He don't even like me.
Why am I...
Everybody likes you.
No.
It's just they don't deserve you.
Or they don't put in the effort
that makes you feel wanted enough.
No, what I learned was that...
They be liking you.
No, what I realized the last time was
he liked the ego boost that I gave him
but I don't think he liked me.
Oh, I see.
I was like, you don't even like me.
And then I would still...
Yeah.
You were vulnerable to...
I don't know what it was.
Something...
I wish I was more the girl
that was like, savagery
and the moving on part.
But instead of that,
sometimes I hang on way longer
because I'd rather not put a notch
on the belt.
Instead, I'd rather keep putting it
through the same loop and hole.
And it's like, girl,
just add a notch.
You're forcing it now.
You're forcing it.
Just stop.
Stop?
Maybe that goes into like...
Saying no.
See, there he is outside.
I'm kidding.
Oh, he's here.
Gotta go carry him.
Oh my God.
See how quickly that escalates?
Such a vice, no?
Right.
We're both gonna drink to that
because I can relate.
It's bad.
Oh.
We might be here a while.
Oh gosh.
What is a conspiracy theory
you believe might be true?
You know why I said that?
I'm gonna go with
Stanley Kubrick.
Right?
Who is a very
highly acclaimed director.
He apparently is the director
that directed The Moon Landing.
And he's like,
we never did it.
It never happened.
It was a set.
We made mistakes.
They aired it
not directly to TV.
They put it behind the news anchors.
That's what he was saying
in the video or whatever.
But he made a confession tape.
I think he asked his friend
to wait 10 or 15 years
after he died
to release the tape
or whatever.
And he was speaking honestly,
candidly
about himself.
I might die over this, huh?
Let me be quiet.
Actually,
because they were saying him,
but I'm just gonna drink.
I ain't trying to go down
with you.
He was laughing.
Because if they're looking
for you,
they're gonna definitely
come for me.
I asked it in the first place.
And what do you think
on that footage now,
Elon Musk?
Let me just drink, too.
I don't know.
It's not very easy to find.
We're gonna drink.
Where's the
men in black eraser thing?
Edit that.
We're gonna use the dildo.
Erase.
Hey.
Hi, friend.
It never happened.
Would you like to have a drink?
I think we should.
Let's have a drink.
What body part
do you get the most compliments about?
Oh.
Certainly not my feet.
Mine either.
Y'all, hold on.
Y'all better not.
You better not
put a picture of
either of our feet
in this edit.
No, don't.
Girl, this is my show.
They better not.
Well, don't do it to me either.
No.
Listen,
I watch these videos.
No feet pictures
to insert
and layer in
to this part.
Our feet are
occupational hazards.
Thank you very much.
We may or may not
And I played basketball
before that.
I would say my lips.
Your lips?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
People think that they're fake
and they're not.
They do.
They've been the same size
your whole career.
I don't know why.
I've gotten two, actually.
My lips and my shoulders
I get.
Shoulders?
Which is really random.
I never, ever got complimented
on my lips
until I moved to LA
where everyone was like,
how do you get them done?
I'm like,
my mom and my dad.
Ooh.
What is your most
irrational
deal breaker
with a man?
Oh, wow.
This is a good one.
Whack tattoos.
Oh, whack tattoos.
That's a good one.
It's so,
I know it's irrational.
I know.
But it's such a turn off.
Like around the belly?
That's terrible.
Definitely never do that.
If I'm going to look at you
and like,
appreciate your skin,
you know.
Back in the day,
I really liked this guy.
But I felt so petty.
His tattoo,
I don't want to say it because
then he's going to know.
He and others
are going to know
if I describe this tattoo.
This was over a decade ago.
What body part was it?
It was on his chest.
One side or the other
of his chest.
It was just huge
and it was off,
it was not lined up right.
It was like,
what's the word?
Not oblong,
like,
it wasn't asymmetric.
It wasn't symmetrical.
It was not symmetrical
but it was very,
it's a very serious
kind of tattoo
that should be symmetrical.
It's like his
tattoo artist
was
high.
By the time I met him
he had already tried to cover.
I think it was
covering something else up.
Which made it also
more oblong
or
not symmetrical.
it was just bad.
It was so bad.
And I thought
he was so adorable.
I feel like I'm
justified in this.
I mean,
whack tattoos are
whack tattoos.
It's like,
it tells me a lot about you.
I stopped
one of my best friends
in high school
from getting
a Hanson tattoo.
Hanson?
Remember that group?
The group?
The group girl
around her belly button.
Oh no.
That says no.
Don't you do that.
I was like,
to this day,
I hope she remembers that.
They were cute though.
Not that cute.
Do you have
or have you ever had
a nemesis?
A nemesis?
I think I've definitely
had people
that I'm like,
you try to compete.
I think that.
But I don't know
if they're like,
hey,
you're my nemesis.
Yeah,
I don't think anyone
ever announces that.
I don't think,
no, right?
But if you felt
like it was like
enemy territory,
like we don't
F with each other.
I'm doing a lot of like
suggestive cursing.
Yeah.
Feel free to edit it out.
No, it's fine.
I don't care.
And we got things to say.
I don't care if you don't care.
Okay, just make sure
we don't give a f**k.
Dang,
I don't think I do.
I don't know.
You know when someone
has it out for you,
even if they don't say it.
Nobody be checking
from me like that.
At least I don't think so.
You don't do things
that make people
beef with you, though.
I mean,
silently,
maybe,
but not.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, last question.
This is a good one.
All right.
Last question.
What question
do you most hate
being asked?
I feel like I can
answer this for you.
Oh, well, go.
I'd rather drink.
I'll tell you if it's
the one that,
oh, you'd rather drink.
Oh, gosh.
Just not to bring it up.
It's like
what happened with you
and Blake
or something like that.
Yeah, dumb.
Yeah, I think anything
relationship,
if I'm there for
work, business,
music, art,
acting,
anything like that
and you ask me about
my personal life,
I'm annoyed.
Right.
So now, at this point,
I'm gonna drink that.
Cheers.
Thanks for playing along.
That was fun.
Not bad.
I feel like we're
not even drunk.
You answered everything.
We answered a lot.
Wow.
What a fun trip
to the ATL.
Shout it.
Yes.
Thank you, Carrie,
for hanging out
and always
coming through.
Thank you guys
so much for watching.
Don't forget
to subscribe.
