Can one person turn eleven and a half tons of solid granite into something as intimate and precise as a bathtub?

For Vladislav, the answer is not found in a factory or behind a computer-controlled machine, but carving out by hand. Over months, he was working on a 23,000-pound granite boulder that offered no second chances. Granite is brutally hard, enormously heavy, and unforgiving of mistakes. Yet hidden inside that mass is a functional object that exists only if he can remove exactly the right stone.

The result is a rare kind of build, suspended somewhere between heavy engineering, traditional stonemasonry and sculpture. Industrial machinery may be needed simply to move the boulder, but the transformation itself comes down to Vladislav: diamond blades worn through by granite, thousands of hammer blows, clouds of stone dust, repeated grinding, an injury, and the patience to refine a surface that begins as fractured rock until it is smooth enough to meet bare skin.

By the end, very little has been added to the original stone. There is no shell hiding underneath, no manufactured tub inserted inside it, no material disguising what it used to be. The weathered boulder remains visible on the outside while its interior has been transformed into a polished soaking space with sculpted seating and a working drain.
