Leafs make MULTIPLE moves...This is GREAT
1 Video View·Oct 9, 2026
It's finally happening.
It's not only have the Toronto Maple Leafs made multiple moves,
but some new comments from Craig Berube
and updates surrounding Brad's living have dropped,
revealing what fans have been waiting for for months now,
surrounding their plan to finish off the season.
And it is not only very encouraging,
but paints a very interesting light
as Craig Berube is entering what is most likely
to be his final stretch of games
as the Toronto Maple Leafs head coach.
We're going to break that down and discuss the moves they made,
as well as a few other updates on this episode.
You're going to want to stay tuned to the very end of the video.
There's a lot to go over today.
And Darius, let's dive right into it here.
Now, there is a lot of things happening.
The Leafs have called up Michael Pezzetta,
and let's start with that here.
You can see they recalled Michael Pezzetta from the Marlies.
You might be thinking, you know, this isn't a huge move.
They're not really trying to win now anyway, but there
is some underlying meanings here because they're finally starting
to call up some players from the Marlies.
You can see some comments here from Craig Berube.
Good sign for the Leafs to close out the season,
and he acknowledged finally that they're going to be looking
at some of the Marlies starting with Michael Pezzetta tonight.
we're going to look at guys down there
and see yeah you know and he's one of the guys rather
that we wanted to see sorry i'd stay there for a little
while now they've been eyeing him so
dearest are finally starting to look at some of the guys
and there is a couple of interesting
names that we have our eyes out on to of course close out
the season that we're going to dive
into in a minute here and there's a ton of other
updates you're gonna want to stay tuned but before
we get into it we do want to let you guys know

Dears, let's dive back in the news now.
And of course, we're talking about Michael Pezzetta.
Now, Craig Rui finally said they're going to have a look at guys.
And there are some other guys that we're
going to be keeping an eye out on.
And before we get into that, let's kind of touch on them.
You know, William Villeneuve, Luke Hames.
There are a lot of players here that the Leafs
can finally, I mean, they need to see what
they, maybe not Luke Hames, might be a bit premature,
but guys like William Villeneuve
and others, this is now the time to see, okay, what do we have?
Are they going to be able to be pieces going forward?
Because at this point you're playing
for the draft pick and you're playing to get some
information on next season.
Yeah.
And just like cars from autoplanet with Luke Hames,
I see him everywhere right now in the,
in the gt i see his highlights everywhere he's
absolutely ripping it up for me personally i
would let him cook down there still right he came
from the ncaa the top ranked ncaa free agent last
season by the way and a lot of people talking
about free agents and how you know the leafs
might not be able to sign them top ranked signed with the leafs
and uh he's having a really really
good second half but i would let him cook down
there you don't have to call him up maybe you
give him a look for a game that that'd be fine
but you don't have to ruin uh you know or derail
him in any way so i would let him cook down there
william villanoff i think you need to know what
you have at the nhl level in this player he's having
a really really good season and has put
together good seasons in the ahl
but to get back to michael posetta he's not going to come here and
score 50 goals or anything like that he's not even close
to that type of player he's having a decent
year in the ahl but he just he grew up a leafs fan he
is so excited for this i was surprised to
not see him in the lineup sooner uh this year like did he have
to start opening day no there was a
lot of new bodies in the lineup that i could understand
but to not see him a little bit
sooner especially with how stagnant this team has
been for so long i mean talking about calling up
other players like brube was talking about
this morning you waited till you were eight losses in
after the olympic break and not only
that uh you know you waited till you're 10 or more points out
of the playoffs that's a little crazy it's been stagnant for a while
so uh and also give players
a look and the first guy is michael pesetta is a little funny to me
but anyway uh you know michael
pesetta grew up a leafs fan he's ready to go i wonder
if he drops the gloves just for the sake
of dropping the gloves tonight he is an energy bunny
so he's going to be able to give a little
bit of that tonight so i'm excited
to see what he does against the division leading pacific
division leading ducks which means your division stinks
if the ducks are leading that one but um
still i'm excited to see what he does tonight
and hey if this means we actually do get to see a
couple guys up and down like we just saw guru
the other night he looked pretty good i don't think
he's an everyday nhler but if you can you know put
these guys in here and there maybe you're
calling up sending guys back down every couple games just
to give you know a look to a couple
guys i think that could be at least exciting for us to talk about
and watch for the rest of the
year because let's be honest the rest
of the guys have checked out already and whether you like it
or not we can talk about that till we're blue
in the face most of these guys are looking towards
next season at this point so that's just
for some conversations that have to be had in the off season
so uh it'll be interesting to see how tonight goes
because they they got to get a win and a couple
guys got to get on the board and i don't know
if pesetta is going to be that guy but he's going to
offer a little bit of jump i think yeah you look
at his stats he probably should have been playing
a lot earlier just to change something they
were very reactive this year they haven't been
proactive whatsoever last year of course finished
with 25 games with the montreal canadians ultimately
they signed him and i expect we both expect him i think we
were live when they signed or something
like that and he was yeah i think he could have
been a decent piece we're gonna see tonight
he's not gonna be somebody who scores goals
or is a really big point machine but he's somebody
who provides energy with which if you're already kind
of sacrificing points with cali yarn croak
no disrespect, then it would make sense there.
But he is commanding the tank.
Craig Brube is commanding the tank.
And the good news is we finally now, with this comment,
and again, the move itself isn't that big of a deal,
but we get to see some of these guys.
And whether that be Pezzetta,
whether the Leafs want to bring him back next year,
whether that be William Villeneuve,
it can show, and you can only get so many out of it,
two dozen games or a bit less than that, 12, 15 games,
whenever they call up William Villeneuve, hopefully.
But whatever we get to see is going to, I think,
kind of paint a picture surrounding what Craig Brube's plan.
I guess Craig Brewer probably won't even be the coach.
So what the front office's plan is going forward,
starting with Poseta is very interesting.
At the same time, it is a good organizational deed, I think, here,
because you can see if you work as hard as you can
and show people, you know, people usually respect you
if you show that to the fans and show your work ethic,
which is funny because the team has none of that right now.
So I think Poseta, on the surface,
you should probably call up somebody,
I don't want to say younger, but maybe a little bit younger,
even though Poseta is only 27 years old.
But this is a good reward for him.
If we don't see them call up guys like William Villeneuve and others,
I'll be very, very disappointed.
You have absolutely nothing to lose at this point.
You're not trying to win games.
You're not trying to, you know, you're trying to tank at this point.
And again, we can look at the power play, all these different things.
At this juncture, the only thing that matters
to me is losing games in competitive ways
and seeing what the young guys have to offer.
But these are mini tryouts, I think, for a lot
of these guys, too, which is what should
have probably been done a while ago,
not as tryouts, but to actually change things up.
You can make an argument if they would have
made some moves months ago and something like
that, some sort of energy could have been boosted out of this team.
yeah maybe again we'll never know hindsight's 2020 as well
but i was a little surprised you
know we talked about it like you said we were live
when they signed him and i thought okay
there's a fourth line piece right there i think
that he would maybe not every game right but i
thought that he was going to be with the team
and through his quote too you could tell that this guy
understands what it means to be a toronto maple leaf
if you come in you work hard people will
love you forever and obviously there's different expectations
on top players right but i think that
if the leafs the last couple
of years had lost like maybe they don't win a stanley cup but they
went on deep playoff runs and they were trying really hard
and the losses weren't the way that
they were losing 5-1 completely collapsing every time right where it
was a tight game and you lose
like you did in 2002 or something where it
was like man you laid everything on the line and
unfortunately you just came up short we it would
be a completely different narrative right now so
this is a guy that understands that right
so again i don't know if he's going to be a huge
difference maker but i'm i'm excited
for him specifically to get into the lineup he grew up
the least fan now you can see a couple different things
this morning in terms of power play units
So Cowan, you know, I think Nize is going to be on the first
power play unit tonight, but Cowan was taking reps there
because Nize got hit in the face with a shot today.
Also, OEL has been put on power play one over Morgan Riley.
So that's something new tonight as well.
And again, in the grand scheme of things, like they're not making
the playoffs and most people have checked out of these games.
But, you know, the little things and little things
that they're changing are interesting to me.
So you can see that as well.
And, you know, Mark Masters was talking about
a few different things this morning.
joseph wool is starting in net as well he's uh i think
that's pretty interesting too by the way
because he started the last game against
the canadians so i wonder if they're running him
more as a starting goalie now whereas at the end
of last season we saw more of a one one one one
deal stolars hasn't you know he's had good games this year
but he hasn't had a season like he did
last year so i thought that was pretty interesting
but uh this is a game where matthews has to score
and the guys have to get going and you gotta get a win
and i know at the end of the day like we're
all hoping for that top five pick
because you know for this whole season to go this way and
then for you to still give Boston your pick would suck
so we're still hoping for that but show a
sign of life show that you know we can build off something
to go into next year in a couple of
these games here and we'll be fine
and you know David Amber spoke about it too like you know the
other night you lose to Montreal 3-1 one
of the goals empty netter right not horrible not horrible
in terms of you know how you're losing
if you're getting blown out every night and the guys look
like they absolutely don't care
which some of the guys look like they absolutely don't care anyway
it would be a lot worse and we'd
be talking about something else right but if you're losing like 2-1
here and there try and get that top five pick it would certainly help
and draft the best player
available and and see what you can do next year
because it doesn't have to be a long turnaround
it doesn't there is a world where it does turn around
but there has to be a couple moves made
in the meantime to see that actually come
to fruition yeah if you're a top five pick next
year you could be looking at depending
who it is a very very good team and one final thing before
wrap up here. You can see Craig Brube spoke out
about the Cowan-Matthews-Neil-Hender line. They've had some good
stretches at times. Early on in the season, they were together
for a bit. They did some good things, and it's a good opportunity
for Cowan. I'm liking this. I don't like
Craig Brube at this point. I think he should probably be let go
for a multitude of reasons. Finally giving
some more opportunities to the Easton Cowan, and
now for Michael Pezzetta. It is what it is,
but seeing that is exactly what we wanted
to see, and they're finally doing it after
weeks and months of failure.
They're going to at least let us see some...
I'm not even saying Pezzetta's necessarily that guy, but hopefully
they'll let us see some of the younger players.
