Last minute Rangers Changes, News and Reports ahead of Game 4 | NYR News
Oct 4, 2026
We have multiple New York Rangers updates to go over today as we have some last minute news,
reports, rumors, and even changes to the lineup ahead of their next game revolving around two
players in particular that will have Rangers fans fired up. But not only that, we have some great
news for Rangers fans revolving around the way that this team is playing so far this season.
And according to some of the advanced numbers, even though it is a small sample size,
it looks as if this Rangers team is definitely for real. We're going to break down what this
all means for the team moving forward and why they're going to make the playoffs. Yes,
make the playoffs. And speaking of making the playoffs, I am giving away a jersey here on the
channel to one lucky subscriber for whatever comes first. Either the Rangers make the playoffs or
15,000 subscribers. So if you're not yet subscribed to the channel, which 80% of you are not,
make sure you are so you don't miss anything that's going on with the Rangers and you enter
for a chance to win a New York Rangers jersey before the end of this season. So pretty exciting
stuff, but let's get into it. Some big storylines today. Sean Dursey looks great so far this season.
He plays his former team later tonight in the Utah Mammoth. Speaking of former teams and former
players, Vincent Trocek returns to MSG for the first time as a member of the Utah Mammoth. Now,
big game. There's going to be, you know, a round of applause. There's going to be a standing
ovation I'm sure for Vincent Trocek, but some moves have been made and we're going to get to
Vincent Trocek and his comments later in the video. So stay tuned for that as well as the
return for Vincent Trocek. Cole Baldwin looking pretty good in the AHL. We're going to get to that
later in this video. Couple changes to the Rangers lineup this morning at Morning Skate. So you guys
can probably see it already. First line looks the same. Second line does not. So Ty Cartier, who's
been playing so well, not just this season, but since coming over to the Rangers via waivers last
season. I love his attitude. I love his work ethic. I love pretty much everything about this player.
He's been playing very well. He gets promoted from the fourth line to the second line. He's going to
be playing with Miller and Dorofiev. You got the third line. That's the same. And then Bjorkstrand
moves down to that fourth line. Now you might be thinking to yourself, oh my goodness, we paid
Bjorkstrand all that money to be on the fourth line. That is a disaster. And I was speculating
yesterday, maybe he was injured and that's why he didn't play that much in Detroit. If he was
injured, he wouldn't be in the lineup. They would bring Matt Rempe back into the lineup if he was
truly playing hurt. And that's just not the case, but I'm willing to bet that this pays off actually
for the Rangers because Cartier has been playing very, very well. And speaking of betting, October
is one of the best times of year. You got Rangers hockey back. The baseball post season is here. The
MLB post season is here. And if you're tired of all the fake tipsters, right? If you're tired of

the channel. So some interesting changes to the lineup today for the New York Rangers. We also
have a morning skate at MSG, by the way, a rare morning skate at MSG. Rempe, Robertson, and Morrow
were on the ice for early work at morning skate. They will all be the scratches tonight. So Rempe
comes out of the lineup. Mike Sullivan talked the other day about how Rempe coming out of the lineup
is more so about matchups and less about how the players are playing. But let's be honest,
as I've come to realize on the broadcast, he's just the better player. So he's going to be in
the lineup still. And then Cartier moves up to that second line. You can see this from
stat boy, Steven. It only took three games for Cartier to move up to that second line.
Yorkshire down to the fourth line, which looks crazy on the surface, which it kind of does.
But let's see how it plays out. He's familiar with that role. He's familiar with the role and
Cartier has been playing well. And I will say this credit where credit is due to Mike Sullivan
for rewarding a player who's playing well. Hey, you're going to move up. You're skating very well.
You're checking. Maybe the second line can use some more checking. Let's get going here. Maybe
free up some more pucks for Dorofiev and JT Miller to get to work. I like it. I like the move. And
this is a guy, again, you know, over the course of his NHL career, hasn't done too much in terms
of point production. But then last year, 22 points in 64 games and really came on hot with
the Rangers late in the season. And again, he has one assist in three games so far this season. So
we'll see what he does with more ice time on that second line. I think it's fine. I think
it's great. Give the guy an opportunity. I'm excited to see what he does. Speaking of excited
to see what he does, Sean Dursey, first game back against his former team. He looks great,
too. I talked yesterday about how he's skating so well. He's playing physical. He already got
in a fight. He should have had a Gordie Howe hat trick. He's getting pucks through to the net. I
love everything about Sean Dursey's game before he got to the Rangers. And now with the Rangers,
he's continuing to play that game. So I'm excited to see what he does. And he's playing his former
team tonight. And he spoke to Molly Walker about that. And he said it's nice to get the first game
against Utah out of the way very early. He said it's always weird playing your old team.
I've done it a couple times now, but you got to love or sorry, but you got love for the guys
for the last couple of years. So you play your hardest for them and how you're playing for a
new team. Excited, obviously. So he's excited for the challenge. He's ready to get going. I'm glad
he can get this out of the way pretty early. And I'm also glad that Vincent Czolczak doesn't have
to wait too long to come back to MSG as well. So very excited to see that. Another storyline over
the last couple of days, Dylan Garan. I've been talking about him a lot. Of course, this season,
literally perfect. He hasn't let in a goal. Last season, he had a 948 as well in three games. So
he's looked really good. There's been some talk about Dylan Garan on social media too. And some
talk about Albert Schmitz out there and what he's been able to do for the Rangers at five on five.
And I thought this one was pretty cool too. The New York Rangers have scored three five on five
goals this season. Albert Schmitz has been on the ice for all three of them. So he's been doing some
good work too. Five on five, where he's been trusted. He hasn't been playing that much. His
ice time's kind of been around 12, 14-ish minutes. And we're only three games in. It's fine. But the
Rangers, this is pretty cool too so far to start the season. They have three goals at five on five,
two goals at five on four, two empty net goals. They have a shutout four. So they've gotten a
shutout from Dylan Garan. They've been shut out in the first game. And an empty net goal has been
scored in all three games, whether it was for or against. I think that's a pretty crazy way to
start the season. So pretty cool stuff there. Good for Albert Schmitz. I'm excited to see what
he's going to continue to do so far this season. Now, one thing I want to get to is Vincent Trocek.
Now, Vincent Trocek has returned to MSG. He's going to get a video package. He's going to get
a standing ovation, as he should. And he spoke about everything that has happened over the last
little while. And obviously the trade deadline and how he wasn't traded there. And then he was
traded during the summer. He said it was just a roller coaster. But I think last year going to
the trade deadline, pretty positive that it was going to happen. And then it just felt a little
bit odd that it didn't happen. It felt weird is a word that he used to describe it. Going back to
a team that, you know, felt like I was already out the door. So I thought it was a weird, you know,
moment. He kind of felt like purgatory. I thought it was going to happen at the deadline too. And
then they held out. I think they got a very good package by holding out. So that it actually did
work out well. And I was giving Chris Drury hell for holding out for a while. But it did work out
pretty well in their favor. We'll get to why in a second. But Vincent Trocek said he's trying to
take emotion out of the first time playing the New York Rangers as much as possible. Honestly,
I haven't thought about it a whole lot played last night got in late. I'm excited for sure
excited to see the guys excited to see the staff. And then he also spoke out and said, I think
everywhere you go, you kind of envision that being your last stop. So he thought he was going to be
a Ranger for life. So yeah, I think that was kind of the plan when I signed there. It was just to
be there for the rest of my career, things happen, it's business and teams go in certain directions
that you can't really avoid decisions being made. And ultimately, he was traded. And the last thing
he said here is a special place to be obviously being a part of the original or an original 16.
And playing in New York City, it doesn't really get much better than that. He said his family
made sure it was part of the community. And he feels his kids grew up there. So pretty crazy,
pretty crazy for him to return now very early in the season. We'll see how you know the reception
is I'm sure it'll be thunderous as well as it should be had some great moments for the New
York Rangers, but he was traded for cobalt when obviously Sean Dursley who looks good so far,
there was a pick involved too. And speaking of cobalt, when and some of the younger guys in the
Hartford Wolfpack, Liam green tree with his first professional point last night on a USO parson and
goal. The Hartford Wolfpack are a different team this season. They were one of the they were the
worst team in the AHL last year. This year, they have a bunch of youth. This is a much different
team, a much different philosophy, different coaching staff, different developmental staff,
a bunch of young guys who just came from the OHL that are hungry to make an impact.
And one of those guys was cobalt going with his first professional goal last night on a two on
one where he just absolutely ripped it past the goaltender. So he's looking pretty good too. And
would you like still would you like to still have Vincent trochek on this team? Yeah,
I think it would make them deeper at the center position. But with the package that they got,
I think at the end of the day, you did become a more a deeper, you became a deeper team in theory.
In the future, we'll see what happens with Sean Dursey. There is a contract negotiation that has
to happen there. Colbert Dwayne looks like he's going to be a stellar stellar player for this
team. So we will see what happens how that progresses in the future. We'll see how the
game goes tonight guys. Big change to the roster tonight. Sean Dursey plays his former team Vincent
trochek plays his former team and returns to MSG. Let me know in the comments how you feel about
all the changes that Mike Sullivan made to the lineup tonight. And should be a very exciting
rest of the season for the Rangers because if the Vans and Olympics are showing anything so far,
they will definitely be more exciting than before, but they'll definitely win some games.
