What's up guys?
It's Isaiah Harwell.
I'm a guard.
Class of 25.
And you're now watching Elevate.
What's up y'all?
This is Coach Jay.
On this episode of Elevate, we have Isaiah Harwell, one of the best players in the Class
of 2025.
Let's go.
Alright, so first we're going to get started with a warm up.
Make sure your body is ready to go.
So you're going to tap this ball in front of you.
We got this ball right here on the floor that we're going to lift our leg over and tap to
get our hips activated.
Hips are super important for basketball, so we're going over and just touching.
Don't put any weight on this foot, but over and back.
Alright, you got it?
Yeah, get it up high.
Get that knee up high.
Shoot it up high.
Yeah.
Good.
Starting to feel it a little bit?
Yep.
Alright, Isaiah.
Tell us a little bit about you.
Um, I say, well first I'm born in Idaho, so I live in Idaho, grew up.
I go down to Wasatch now, I play in Utah.
Some things I like, I like balling, I like bowling, I like golfing.
I say I'm a child of God and I just like to have fun.
A golfer and a bowler.
Man, I might have to see you on the lanes.
Man, I will get you though.
Alright, good stuff.
Let's go.
The first thing we're going to do with ball handling, we're going to go low, pound, nice
and quick.
Really hit it hard.
Out, hit a target.
Hand right here.
He can move it a little bit, but it's going to get stationary before you pass.
Alright?
Okay.
Good.
One more, one more, one more.
Alright, Isaiah.
This show is called Elevate.
Tell us what you are trying to elevate or work on before next season.
Uh, I'd say trying to get my shot up quicker.
Okay.
How are you working on that?
Uh, I'd say just catching shoots, trying to lift up my pick point so it just goes out
easier.
So working on that upper body?
Yep.
Sometimes it's your feet too.
Making sure your feet are ready.
Mm-hmm.
I love that.
Alright, let's go.
Yeah.
Handle that thing.
Oh, yeah.
One more.
Oh, yeah.
Other side.
Straight to it.
Other side.
Straight to it.
Alright, in terms of your game, who have been some of your biggest influencers or maybe
somebody you model your game after?
Uh, I'd say Kobe Bryant and I'd say Penny Hardaway.
Okay.
And what from each?
I'd say Penny Hardaway as in like how he could pass and cross.
He just dribbles it well.
Kobe, he's just probably one of the greatest one-on-one players.
So I just take a lot of his moves and just need him.
You got that Kobe footwork?
Yeah.
I'm just trying to get there.
I'm trying to get there.
Alright.
I got his fade down right now.
Okay.
Got that fade.
That's good stuff.
So tell me a little bit about how your experience has been with the junior NBA and the junior
NBA court leaders.
It's been amazing.
I've gone to places where like I couldn't go before.
I went to a lot of museums.
I learned stuff about our culture.
I got to be talked to by some players that I haven't been, like I haven't met before.
So like Luka, all of them, I got to talk to them.
So it's been amazing.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
That's love.
Alright.
Let's get back to work.
Alright.
Let's get to it.
So what we'll do here is we got three spots.
You got to make three in a row at each spot.
Okay.
This is right hand.
Touch.
No, trying to go no rim, no backboard.
Now we come in front.
We got two right.
One left.
We're going left.
All left.
Alright.
So just touch up.
Yep.
One.
Two.
Good.
Three.
Two with the right.
Got to hit three in a row.
Good.
Two.
One.
Oh!
It worked for it.
This is the one.
One.
Two.
Good.
One more.
Hey!
It worked through it.
I like it.
Yeah.
Alright.
Now we got our seven moves drill.
So you got to make seven shots.
One is a catch and shoot three.
One dribble pull up right.
One dribble pull up left.
Two dribbles pull back right and left.
One dribble all the way to the rim both directions.
So seven makes.
Okay.
As quick as you can.
Alright.
Here we go.
Knock them down.
Yes sir.
Pull one.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Good.
Left.
Same thing.
Good.
You're good.
Knock down.
Two dribbles.
Good.
Yes sir.
Good.
Left.
There we go.
Here we go.
Attacking it.
Yeah.
Last one.
Great job.
I'm sure it's a little strange to think about, but as you get older and you get better and
you get better, there's young people all over the world looking up to you.
What would your message be for young players out there?
I'd say hold on to your dreams and take school seriously.
Okay.
And do you do both of those things?
Because you're still in school and you still got dreams.
You guys can do that.
Alright.
How are you doing in school?
Let's talk about it.
I'm doing good.
Straight A's.
Straight A's?
Yes sir.
Respect.
Straight A's young people.
Alright.
And what about the other part of that?
Holding on to your dreams.
What are those dreams?
Getting to the league.
Making it to the league.
Alright.
And that's a daily grind, right?
Yes sir.
It's a long haul.
I love it.
Alright.
Good work.
Thank you.
Alright.
So now we got our five spot makes drill.
Alright.
So you're going to make a shot from each spot.
Try to stay hot.
Make as many in a row as you can.
As soon as you miss, you take that number, let's say you hit three, we move to the next
spot.
Alright.
You try to make as many as you can in a row.
It starts with a make.
It finishes with a miss.
We move to the next spot.
No rush on these.
No rush.
Just shoot them right.
There's one.
There's two.
I like it.
That corner is going to be that hot spot.
There it is.
Great stroke.
Get it started.
Five.
Yes sir.
Six.
Seven.
There it is.
Eight.
Okay.
Nine.
Great.
There we go, Zane.
You're good.
Better get it started.
Yeah.
Alright, guys.
That's a wrap for LFA.
We got better today.
Let's keep working.
Alright, bro.
Hey.
Got that weapon.
Okay.
Good to it.
