Oh my god, I oh well like look it had to be done anyway because there's all this
I'm gonna use moisture and then a little bit of heat to raise the grain bring it
up a little closer to flush so you don't have to sand as deep. I'm so sad that that just
happened. Welcome back to wood glue. Subscribe for woodworking tutorials. So
to lift out the grain you got to make sure that the wood that you want to lift
is free of a finish, paint, clear coat, polyurethane so it's real wood and it can
absorb the moisture and it basically brings the grain up and swells the wood
up higher. Start by just adding water. I put a wet t-shirt on here because it's
like a wet t-shirt kind of contest sort of thing happening. A wet t-shirt or a
rag just to help keep the moisture there for a longer period of time. I left it on
for a couple hours and then I came and I think the next day I put more water on
it and then lifted it with the iron. The heat makes it swell faster so you can
put an iron on it with a wet rag over top. It will damage the finish apparently
on a polyurethane or bleach it if you like that look it's kind of cool. Okay so
now that I have raised these scratches up as much as I probably could it's
gonna mean that I'm not gonna have to sand as deep as I would have otherwise
had to and that'll save a lot of time. I started sanding with about sand over 100
grit. It was a little bit aggressive so I only did a light pass. That's the before
after the iron smashed it and then I hit it with the orbital sander starting at
100 grit and working my way up to 150 where it's currently at but not finished
yet. So please hit subscribe if you want to see more of me
