We have some of these gaps, there's a few of them around where the joins have opened up.
And I just want to get some of that filler in there and then we can sand it out and I can finish sanding.
Today I'm going to do a little video on filling wood, mixing natural colored wood fillers.
So I used a natural pine, fir pine, and this is I believe a maple.
I figure I can get a pretty good match with mixing them together, which is that's the natural, that's the fir,
and this is like a mix, which is probably a little bit more natural than fir.
And that looks like a fairly decent match.
I'm mixing two together to get the best color match I can with the wood that exists.
If you're doing holes instead of cracks, then you could almost just about use any color
because there's lots of different colors in the wood.
You could use a darker one for holes and it'll look natural.
But because I'm doing linear kind of lines, I really want to get it as close to match as I can.
What you don't want to do if you want to continue using the same filler in the future,
you don't want to leave the lid off too long.
This is air drying and it does dry fairly quickly.
So you want to get out what you kind of need.
Don't mix up too much at once because you'll waste it.
Now you're going to need to mix up a lot more than you're probably going to need
and you're going to end up wasting a lot of it because I'm going to be trying to push it into the gaps as best I can.
And there's going to be a lot of excess I'm going to have to wipe off and that's just, you know, what it is.
It can be thinned with acetone as well, although you don't want to.
But if it gets like hard and stale, like I've pulled out these cans where there are no good
and then I mixed acetone in there and was able to use it for at least one more time.
I'm making spaghetti.
So I'm just going to kind of mix it till I kind of get the color that I want.
Not bad, not bad.
It will dry lighter.
So you actually want to mix it a little darker than what you want to start with.
Also, I could fill this gap here too, perhaps.
So I'm leaving it on a little bit thick and I'll sand it back.
Using the drywall sponge because it's flexible.
