Welcome back to WoodGlueRu. So I got these doors here and the reason I made them was because of
that. So I had to do something. This material that I used for the stiles and the heads I got
from a job. It's reclaimed redwood, old growth, really nice lumber. It was going to go in the
dumpster and I stopped that from happening. And then I made the slats just from redwood I got
about 100 hours of hard labor and there they are. I didn't go to the effort of making a routing jig
to put my louvers on so I made fillets individually. I just cut a whole bunch of them and
I got my heights lined out and then I just installed one, bam, bam, put the slat on,
shot that on, moved to the next row and that took a while. I made these doors about four years ago
and it's time for a service. I put a clear coat over top of an oil and that didn't really work
too well so I sanded the clear coat off. I think I sanded it all off and now I'm re-oiling it and
that should keep it looking good for another couple years. A brush is good for staining and
oiling. It has short bristles but it's good just with the oil you just want to put on a coat,
let it sit there for half an hour, not in the direct sun and then wipe it off until it's dry
and then you're done. Make sure that your rags are disposed of properly,
not left in a pile or just thrown into a dumpster because that will cause a fire.
The rags, I try and lay them out flat so it's not really touching itself so it's got air that can
get to it that allows the oil to off gas and the fumes to escape and to just transfer and then
once that's happened then I'll wet them and let them sit for another few days and then they're
much at that point safe to dispose of. When I oiled this the first time I had a few rags a
little bit too close together and they started to smolder a little. I've got about another hour left
of oiling and then this is done, it's ready to go back on and I should be good for a couple of years
and next time all I have to do is just wipe the oil on and rub it off because I won't be sanding
off clear coat. Clear coat over oil, no bueno. Hit subscribe to join my channel, see you next time.
Are those gonna fit? Might be a little big but we'll push and see if we can get it in.
Can you stop because I can't use any of that.
