Hello and welcome to my channel. In this video I have nine ways to dress up a boring outfit. Not
dress it up but just make it look less boring. Your boring outfit could just be that you're
trying to rework what you have in your closet and you're just kind of tired of it or you could just
feel like your clothes straight up look boring and you just want to figure out how to make them
not look that way. This is coming from my own personal life right now because I've been having
this issue or this struggle because as I've mentioned in a couple other videos I am five
months pregnant so my body is just kind of doing some crazy things right now. So I've had a lot of
outfits that I put on and they fit me but they just look really boring. I did want to give you
some ideas that kind of incorporate current trends as well and not just stick to the basic classic
ones you've probably already heard. So without further ado let's get started. So the first tip
I have for you to dress up your boring outfit is to add a, I just think it's funny to say that,
I don't know why, is to add a sweater vest to your outfit. It took me a minute to get into this.
They kind of started coming on trend about a year ago, maybe it was a little longer than that,
but I have seen enough styles now and enough outfits put together that I actually am kind of
into it. This is a very easy way to just make your outfit look a little bit more interesting.
Basically just take a white long sleeve or short sleeve shirt, pair of jeans, and throw a sweater
vest over it and you have a whole different look. It looks stylish, it looks put together,
you're not uncomfortable, which is another thing. I really want to be comfortable because of all
things going on. So it's just an easy way to make your outfit look a little bit better without
really trying too hard. Another idea to make your outfit look a little bit less boring is to put a
shirt over your dress. That will make it a lot more casual but it will also make it a lot more
interesting if you were to style it, again, with some kind of knot or you tie it up, but some way
to accentuate your waist with the top. I feel like it gives a whole different look. It's still very
comfortable and casual without being boring. I mentioned in another video that I did that head
scarves are coming back and they're a really big trend for 2021 and I do think they are going to
take off and I feel like they're super easy, great thing for spring and summer, but it is a really
good way to make your boring outfit look less boring. So if you're just wearing, you know, I
always use the white t-shirt and jeans which can appear boring even though it's very classic.
If you add a head scarf it gives you a little bit more style and it's a very simple one to do and
it can cover up your hair if it looks greasy and you need to wash it, like I do sometimes,
and you look stylish while also needing to take a shower. Another way to make your outfit a little
bit less boring and also it's just a way to get more use out of your clothes you own is to put a
shirt underneath your dresses. So this is usually really effective when you have like a slip dress
or some kind of sleeveless dress. It can make a whole other look and a more casual look when you
put a shirt underneath it. It can be a, I like white, so a white long sleeve shirt, a white short
sleeve shirt, but I feel like it's a really cute idea. It has to be part of your personal style,
like it has to be something that resonates with you because it is a definite look, but I feel
like this is an easy one to try out. Even if you're kind of on the fence about it, I recommend
just trying it out with your own clothes and see how you feel about it once it's on your body.
One thing I really love doing, and I mentioned this in a video I did a long time ago which I
will actually link up here, twisting up and tying up and knotting up your t-shirts can make all the
difference in making your outfit look more interesting. For myself right now, since I'm not
really going to be tucking it in, since I'm wearing maternity pants and maternity jeans, I like just
the ones I will show you kind of doing an accordion on the inside so that just gives a little bit of
interest to your top. It makes it look a little bit less sloppy than just having a t-shirt and
letting it hang over your pants. It's actually very simple to do. You just need a hairband
and you can do it. Watch this video again if you want to see exactly how to do these kind of things,
but tying up your shirt, knotting it up, putting a little twist in it is always a very easy way to
make a very simple, plain, boring outfit look a little bit better. Belts are really in this year
and I feel like they don't really ever go out of style, but I feel like a lot of people are using
them a lot more I guess. And cinched waist, as I mentioned in another video, is a trend. I don't
know how that can be a trend, but somehow it is. I like it. I like cinched waist, but what you can
do with this is get a belt and instead of just putting it in your regular belt loops like you
obviously can, you can put a shirt over a dress and then put a belt on top of that. Or you can
put a belt over your jacket. You could put a belt over almost anything and it makes it look way more
stylish than it would if everything's just hanging. I encourage you to experiment with this because it
does take some experimentation, but it is a really good way to elevate your look. You're going to
look way more stylish, way more intentional, and I guarantee you you will get compliments on your
amazing outfit, which is really not that interesting except you added a belt. If you have
dresses in your closet that have the button all the way down, which a lot of us do because they're
very good like work dresses I feel like, the button-up shirt dress kind of thing, you can
easily just unbutton that thing, wear it as a kimono over a white t-shirt and jeans. I've
mentioned in another video that a white t-shirt and jeans are very essential no matter what the
scenario. Putting a dress over it just as a kimono can actually make it look a lot more interesting.
It looks way more stylish and it's very simple to do. This next one is really basic, but it is
very important. If you have a boring outfit but you want to look good and you're trying to look
like you care about what you look like, I feel like you have to do your hair and makeup. If
you're wearing something super simple and then you also have just your hair pulled back in a
ponytail and no makeup on, it just looks like you're being very, very, very casual and you
really don't care what people think, which is fine if that's what you're going for, but let's
say you're trying to meet up with a group of people or you're on a Zoom meeting or whatever
the case may be, but you just want to look okay but you also want to be comfortable, I feel like
you do have to do your makeup and your hair. This doesn't have to be some crazy caked on makeup or
anything, but do a bold lip or play up your eyes, brush your hair, leave it down, or do some
cute updo, something like that, just something so it looks like you were intentional with your look.
I can't make a video like this about how to dress up a boring outfit without mentioning this one tip
and that is to add jewelry or add accessories to your outfit. I feel like that is a tip that
has been driven home. We are beating a dead horse at this point, but if you haven't heard it
or you haven't accepted that as a very good tip, now you should. So that's all for this video. I
feel like there are probably other tips out there and I may do a follow-up for this video
as I learn new things, but that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed it. Give it a thumbs up if you
did, thumbs down if you didn't. Consider subscribing to my channel and I will see you next time.
