Houston just Added Fuel To The Fire...
Oct 20, 2026
Houston just added fuel to the fire,
as following yesterday's huge win to the Jacksonville Jaguars,
one of Houston's players is being considered for MVP.
That, along with reports that a star player
is officially returning from injury this Sunday.
What's up, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome back to Texans Digest.
I'm your host, as always, Isaac Estrada.
Man, we got a lot we need to talk about today.
So, MVP conversation starting to heat up.
That, along with reports that we officially have a star player
returning to the field for the first time in a long, long time.
So, we're going to dive into all that and more today on Texans Digest,
but remember, right before we do, about 90% of you guys are still
not subscribed, so do your boy a favor, hit that subscribe button,
you're going to be getting daily updates here on Texans Digest,
man, let's not waste any more time and get right into it, so,
Tank Dell to return from injury this Sunday, his first time since 2024,
big news for Tank Dell, man, we had been hearing the rumors that, hey,
he might play against Jacksonville, that obviously didn't happen,
They opened up his 21-day window following the Texans going 0-4.
Now the Texans has stacked two straight wins.
Now we traded for Marvin Harrison Jr.
And to add the cherry on top, man, we got this news today.
So I was watching Media Day earlier today,
and I almost spit the water out of my mouth
when I heard DeMeco Ryans say it.
But we're going to talk about it right here.
And NFL on ESPN had put the quote out there.
So I'm going to use it from them.
Breaking, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announces
that wide receiver Tank Dell
is going to play this Sunday versus the Giants
and will be his first game in the NFL since December of 2024.
If you guys remember Arrowhead 2024, Tank Dell,
long shot by CJ Stroud, hauls it in for a touchdown.
Tank Dell doesn't get back up, man.
He doesn't get back up and we hear the worst, man,
that he's injured, that he's probably going to miss the next season,
which did end up coming true.
He missed all of last season.
Heading into this season, we were saying,
hey, he might be 100% headed into this season, but we doubt it.
Sure enough, immediately got put
on injury reserve to start off the season,
Missed the first four games.
They opened up his IR window two weeks ago.
We already saw Caden McDonald come back.
We already saw Braden Smith come back.
We were wondering, when is it going to be Tank Dell's turn?
We officially got the news today.
Tank Dell's back, man.
Tank Dell's back, and what I want to talk about,
how in the world does he fit in this crowded wide receiver room,
in this stacked wide receiver room, man?
Let's count the weapons.
First of all, Nico Collins, just reported on today,
he is officially number three all-time in Houston Texans receiving.
Nico Collins, clearly wide receiver one.
Marvin Harrison Jr. just made the trade for him. He had
a very solid impact in week one, three catches.
Obviously, I expect that to go up now that he
knows this whole playbook. Keishawn Booty, Jalen Nolan.
He just came off of the best game that
we've seen in a long time for him.
107 yards and a touchdown. Had himself a phenomenal game.
Now you're adding Tank Dell into the mix.
How does he fit in with these guys? Because I know
a lot of people are saying, hey, he can take Nolan's spot.
He can replace Nolan. Do you really
want to take Nolan out when he's having the hot hand.
He had a great game against Tennessee. He
turns around and has an even better game against
the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. We haven't
seen Tank Dell in over a year.
Are you really willing to replace that? I don't know. What I
will say is that Tank Dell is an amazing deep threat.
He's shown that in his rookie and sophomore
years. It's going to be interesting.
We talked about this with Marvin Harrison Jr. last week.
How do they get him up to tempo?
Marvin Harrison Jr. was obviously healthy, was going from one
team to another. Tank Dell has not been healthy in well over a year.
We're talking December of
2024. We're in October of 2026 right now.
So 20 plus months of Tank Dell not being on the field.
That's what we're looking at right now.
How do they immediately get him back into tempo?
I think he's going to have some snaps on this Sunday.
I wouldn't expect him to have as big
of a role as we're going to see from Nico Collins,
as we're going to see from Marvin Harrison Jr.
But regardless, I'm excited to see where this leads for Tank Dell.
Having him back on the field
either way is great and it helps one thing man
when it comes to Tank Dell being on the field
it helps one thing and I'm talking about CJ
Stroud's MVP caliber season that he's continuing
to put on man let's dive
into the next chapter DeMeco Ryans backs CJ Stroud for MVP Ryans won't
stay quiet about the MVP talk
so if you guys have been keeping up our guy CJ Stroud is officially
starting to climb the polls
when it comes to MVP caliber quarterback we talked about it a few weeks
ago. The media absolutely dogging on this team, tearing it apart.
What happened yesterday after
that win to the Jacksonville Jaguars?
The same people who said that, hey, this team is predictable.
This defense is not good. CJ Stroud is not worth that money.
Those same people are starting to come
out now and say, hey, CJ Stroud's looking like an MVP.
I think this 2-4 team is better than the 2-4
Rams team. Man, it was a bit of a gut punch to me to see that,
yet at the same time, CJ's finally
starting to get the respect he deserves.
Man, let's take a look at what DeMeco Ryans had to
say. Our fans are right. C.J. Stroud for MVP.
So this started because of you guys. This started
because of the Houston Texans fans
and fans all around the world saying that C.J. Stroud should
be in consideration for it. I get it.
This team is two and four right now. But you don't think
once we beat the Giants this Sunday,
once we start stacking wins against the Chargers the next week
and against all the other teams,
that that's when the talks are going to start heating up for C.J.
Stroud. You see other guys. Obviously,
Josh Allen is going to be a tough one to compete with.
Obviously, we knew that following week one.
You know Josh Allen's going to be tough to compete with.
You obviously know Mahomes has had himself a solid season.
Last night, he played kind of mediocre against the Chargers.
I think it's a perfect opportunity for CJ to take advantage.
D'Amico Ryans is backing that.
And something I want to pull up.
We have talked about how people before,
how they're starting to switch up.
They're going from, hey, this team is predictable to,
oh my goodness, CJ Stroud's MVP.
We all know Dan Orlovsky.
He was very critical early on in the season about these Houston Texans,
saying the defense wasn't as good.
It was quite predictable that this team wasn't
as good as people thought they were going
to be, and there's a lot going on, and
they need to see some huge changes.
Same guy, when speaking on the Pat McAfee show today,
he said CJ Stroud was the best
that he's ever been against the Blitz yesterday,
and he's seeing the field so clean right now.
I agree with that.
He's going to play himself into that MVP conversation
if he keeps playing like this from Dan Orlovsky.
I'm not going to beat up on Dan Orlovsky too much
because he's right, and Dan Orlovsky
criticized the Houston Texans earlier this year
so did many other analysts I don't just want to
specifically go after him
but Dan Orlovsky did criticize this Houston Texans team after their
0-4 start saying hey they're predictable they're
a very predictable team now to going saying hey
CJ Stroud could be MVP I love it yet
at the same time it's like hey stand your base what you said
originally stay with that stay with that same base
that you think it's predictable but either way
you love to see CJ Stroud back
in those MVP conversations especially after last season not
quite going our way in this season having
a rough start CJ Stroud did throw the first interception
of this season yesterday but something I want
to look at is CJ Stroud's stats are the stats there
to back it up let's put it on the big screen
so 2023 this is not including his game yesterday
we're going to add those stats up here in just a moment
but through the first five games CJ Stroud
64 completion percentage the second highest
of his entire career behind last season's 1400 passing
yards six touchdowns zero interceptions let's take
into account the fact that this does not
include the 300 yards he had yesterday that along
with the three touchdowns and the interception
so we're gonna pull that up right now put this on the big screen
so we're including those five
games plus what we saw yesterday
which was 300 passing yards three touchdowns and an interception
obviously his first of the year kind of in a rough spot
but either way I'm still happy that we were
able to see it. So you love to see that man.
So now let's go back to CJ Stroud stats. Let's kind
of analyze it. Now instead of 1,400 yards, he has 1,700.
Instead of six touchdowns, he has nine
touchdowns and one interceptions now.
Interception, he was ranked number one in the league. I think
he's still ranked at the top. It was only one pick.
But either way, we're looking at our quarterback
having 1,700 passing yards in the NFL.
Nine touchdowns and one interception. Back-to-back
wins. You're going to start stacking it up even more and more.
Is CJ Stroud in the MVP conversation?
I want to know what you guys think.
I think he's right there. Obviously, you need the record to
back it up. Unfortunately, I had talked about it yesterday.
I had talked about it. I don't think
it was yesterday. I actually think it was a few days ago.
We had talked about it. If CJ Stroud
has 50 passing touchdowns on the season,
zero interceptions, but the team misses the playoffs,
it doesn't really matter. Record goes into a huge part of MVP.
I know a lot of people don't want to
admit it but it does if a team is nine and seven
or a team is nine and eight and somebody has 50
touchdowns and there's another team that ended up being let's say 13
and four and they had worse
stats but they led their team to higher rates i think
that guy's ultimately going to be the guy
that gets the MVP no duh
but i think CJ Stroud that's the same goes for him the same goes for
him he needs to continue to play well
and not only that we need to continue to have wins i think guys
like Tank Dell coming back are going to definitely help
that i'm going to say right now i think we
have the most stacked wide receiver room
in the entire NFL this is insane our wide receiver room
is crazy right now man
so I want to end off by asking you guys this question is Stroud a real
MVP candidate or is this just Houston hype I want
to know type A for yes he's a real candidate
type B for hype only or type C for it's too early
to say you know number C we always say is it too
early to call is it too early to say that's kind
of where I'm teetering right now only because
we're still two and four.
This team is still two and four, and we still need a lot to back it up.
But these next two games,
very beatable teams in the Giants and the Chargers. We win those two
games. I think we're looking at an MVP caliber player in C.J. Stroud.
I think we're looking at
MVP number one. I think Josh Allen
is the only guy really fighting for him in that spot right now.
But thank you guys so much for watching today on Texans Digest.
Let me know if you guys think
C.J. Stroud is an MVP caliber quarterback this season.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
Have a great day.
Have a blessed day.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
