Video Summary
AI GeneratedMissy demonstrates how to create an elegant half-up hairstyle featuring two symmetrical braids that meet at the back of the head. The tutorial guides viewers through the process of combining French and lace braiding techniques to secure the hair neatly before intertwining the braids over a pinned crown section for a polished finish.
Hello, it's Missy.

And let's get started.
Begin this hairstyle by parting the hair in the center
or near the center.
Then divide out any hair that you'd like to leave out
to frame the face.
Now pick up a section of hair next to the hairline
to use for the braid.
Divide this section into three equal pieces
and begin a regular braid crossing the side strands
once over the middle strand.
After the initial stitch of the braid,
begin incorporating new sections of hair into the braid
on both the left and the right sides.
Continue crossing the side strands over the middle strand
while also bringing in new sections
from along the top of the head and from along the hairline.
This will create the French braid style of braid.
Cross the side strand over the middle.
Pick up a new section of hair and cross it over,
bringing it into the middle strand.
Then cross the other side strand over the middle.
Pick up a new section of hair and cross it over,
bringing it into the middle strand as well.
After three sections have been brought into the braid
on both sides, stop adding in pieces
from the top of the head and only bring in hair
from along the hairline.
This will switch the braid to a lace style braid
and it will just help it lay a little bit more smoothly
around the back of the head when it's time to be pinned up.
Continue braiding the hair down the left side of the head,
bringing in sections until the braid reaches the left ear.
Now stop adding in additional pieces
and continue braiding the section
in a regular three-strand braid.
You want to braid it down enough
so it'll reach around to the back of the head.
Then slide a couple bobby pins over the bottom of the braid
so it doesn't unravel.
Now repeat those steps and create the same braid
on the right side of the head.
Begin by dividing off a section of hair
on the right side of the part
and split it into three equal pieces.
Cross the side strands over the middle strand
and after the initial stitch of the braid,
begin incorporating sections of hair
into both sides of the braid.
Cross the side strand over the middle,
pick up a new section of hair
and cross it over bringing it into the middle strand.
Then cross the other side strand over the middle,
pick up a new section of hair
and cross it over bringing it
into the middle strand as well.
Cross the side strands over the middle strand, then cross the other side strand over the middle.
Pick up new sections of hair and bring them into the braid as well on each crossover of the side strands.
Work your way down along the right side of the head until three sections have been brought into both sides of the braid.
Cross the side strand over the middle.
Pick up a new section of hair and cross it over bringing it into the middle strand.
Then cross the other side strand over the middle.
Pick up a new section of hair and cross it over bringing it into the middle strand as well.
After three sections have been brought into the braid on both sides,
stop adding in pieces from the top of the head and only bring in hair from along the hairline.
This will switch the braid to a lace style braid,
and it will just help it lay a little bit more smoothly around the back of the head when it's time to be pinned up.
And once the braid reaches this point, continue braiding the section in a regular three strand braid
until it can reach around the back of the head.
So cross one side over the middle, then cross the other side over the middle,
working down towards the ends of the section.
Then slide a bobby pin or two over the end of the braid.
Once both braids are done, you're going to pin up the braids now.
First divide off the crown section and get this pinned in place.
So divide off the top section of hair at the crown,
combine it together at the center of the back of the head,
slightly twist the section together,
and then slide bobby pins into the right side and the left side of the twist.
This will ensure the hair is held in place but the pins are hidden underneath the hair.
Now take the left braid, create a gap in the braid where it hits at the center of the back of the head.
Take the right braid and pull this through the gap so the two braids are intertwined together
and sit right over the pinned portion of the crown section.
Now pin the braids in place by tucking the ends underneath themselves
and sliding pins in through the middle of the braids.
This will secure them at the back of the head along with the top crown section.
Then you can go back and remove any extra bobby pins from the ends of the braids
and unravel them so they blend in with the rest of the hair.
