AI GeneratedStephanie Brinkerhoff demonstrates how to create a timeless, classic half-up hairstyle ideal for bridal parties. The process involves preparing the hair with curls and extensions, adding volume to the crown, and carefully pinning sections to achieve a balanced, elegant look.
Hi everyone, I'm Stephanie Brinkerhoff
with Hair and Makeup by Steph,
and today I'm going to be walking you guys
through the simple classic half-up style.
This style is very timeless and definitely a go-to
for anyone in the bridal party.
So let's go ahead and get started.
Okay, so to start, we're going to want to put
some really pretty curls in her hair.
So I clipped a few clip-in extensions here in the back
just to give this a little bit more volume
and to sort of fill out the ends down here.
So now that I have these in, I can go in and start curling.
So I'm just going to start down here at the nape,
and I'm going to go in with the Kenra Hot Spray 20
and just get this misted through the ends.
So this is a really good curl spray.
It's going to help with longevity,
and it's also a heat protectant, which is nice.
Okay, and then I'm just going to go in
and get this curled with a 1 1⁄4 inch curling iron.
So I'm just clamping that in there,
and I'm curling everything away from the face on both sides.
So I'm going to go in towards the center in the back.
And then I'm also leaving the ends a little bit straighter.
So just something like that.
Okay, so this is kind of what you're going for.
We're going to let these cool for a minute
while I curl the rest of the hair.
So I'm just going to repeat that process,
working my way up the back.
Now I'm going to go ahead
and start running my fingers through this
just to soften it, break it up a little bit.
So the Kenra Hot Spray 20 is really good for this
because it's very brushable.
So you can see as I'm doing this,
my hands are gliding through really easily,
but I still have all of that hole in there from the product.
Okay, now I want to add some volume in the crown.
So I'm going to go up here
and just add some backcombing right here at the top.
And I'm going to get that locked in place
with the Kenra Volume Spray 25.
And I'm just going to do this all throughout the crown.
So I'm just packing that in at the roots.
I'm doing it pretty condensed in there.
Okay, and then I'll continue my way around to the sides.
Okay, once I have that backcombing in there,
I can go ahead and start to get this pinned.
So I'm going to spray a little bit of the Kenra
Perfect Medium Spray 13
just to give this a little bit more separation
and definition.
Okay, and then right here in the center back,
I'm just going to very loosely skim the top layer
and get this gathered in the center back.
So I'm not including much of the sides yet.
I'm mostly just doing the crown.
And I'm going to get this brought together
and loosely twisted in the center back.
Okay, so before I get this pinned,
I'm just going to loosely deconstruct a little bit.
Okay, and then I'll go ahead and get that pinned
here in the center back.
So I'm just keeping my bobby pins closed
and I'm just kind of like leaving them in there
and then pushing them up.
Okay, and then I'm just going to softly add in the sides.
So I'm leaving a little bit out around her face.
Okay, so I'm just adding in this side.
So I'm just sort of wrapping it across in the back
and then tucking that underneath there
and then getting that pinned.
Okay, and then we'll repeat the same thing
on this other side.
Okay, and then I'm just going to wrap this across the back
and we're just going to tuck it underneath
and get this pinned under the section from the other side.
Okay, so now I'm going to turn her around towards the front
and detail around her face a little bit.
All right, so you can either step around
and look at it from the front or you can use a mirror
just to sort of detail, figure out how much hair
you want to leave out around the face.
This is purely visual.
There's no right or wrong way to do this.
You can definitely get more pinned up
and have just a few around the face
or you can leave more down.
It's just whatever you feel is the most flattering.
Okay, so I'll just bring this around to the back
and same thing, I'm just going to tuck it underneath here.
So I'm making sure the same amount of hair
is pulled back on both sides, left out around her face
and then everything is just nice and even.
All right, and then I'm just going to detail around her face
a little bit more.
Make sure these are all looking how I want them to.
All right, and then to finish here in the back,
I want to add a little bit more bulk.
So I'm going to go in with the Kenra Spray Clay 15
and I'm kind of spraying this underneath
and down through the ends as well.
Okay, and that is how you create a simple half-up style.
